Not for the faithful, the gullible, the hard of thinking or rancid of soul, I'm afraid.

"rancid of soul"

Although I am an atheist and don't believe in the soul, that term just perfectly encapsulates MAGA.

If you don't mind I will file that in my noggin for future use.

😂Just like I am sure you're a Lady... You can spot them a mile off.

I am not a Lady in that sense, no you are right, I am not new here though, and don't think that somehow a Woman is incapable of saying not very nice things. Mumsnet is full of toxicity, and has been for a while, imo.

There’s no need to be personal. The fact is, if the officers were enforcing the law, and she refused to abide by it, then tragically there have to be consequences. Whether she is a woman or a mother of 3, is irrelevant.

No. There was NO reason for this to have ended with a woman being shot in the face and killed. None

Oh and just to repeat what a PP has already said - CNn and the BBC have reported- that the Minneapolis authorities have had to withdraw from the investigation because the FBI have decided to refuse them access to any of the files, photos, or investigation.

Let that sink in.

My own 15 year old son with SEN was with me when that got reported and he just said 'It's dystopian'.

If he can fucking get it, then I'm at a loss that others seem oblivious to what is right in front of them - served up to them on a plate with neon signs and flashing lights.

@DeposedPresident - the US hasn't been a free country for some time now and what you've said above does not surprise me in the slightest.

The world is fucked, though. Too many power-mad men bolstering and empowering other power-mad men. Fucking men.

If an armed officer say at Heathrow told you to get out of your vehicle would you honestly ignore them? I pull over on rare occassions police have directed me to in UK I cannot imagine not doing so. If I had armed officers in front of me I am pretty certain I would do exactly as they asked. Why are so many pretending it is ok just to ignore the police🤔

He’s going to get away with it isn’t he. Minneapolis authorities being blocked from being involved in the investigation and Trump administration doubling down that he was acting appropriately. Holy shit, how did the US get here? They are essentially legalising murder of civilians by Trump officials.

Fulmine · 08/01/2026 17:21

Im not sure the need to focus so much in which part of the body was shot but I don’t think she drove at the officers either. I just don’t understand why she was driving away full stop or why people are dismissing that. Obviously the fact she tried to drive away before they opened fire led to the tragic outcome. If armed officers tell you to get out of your vehicle and you carry on driving, you get shot. It has happened in the UK too. Unfortunately what you do next in the moments anfter armed officers tell you to get out of your vehicle matters. Trying to drive away matters.

Their initial beef was that she was obstructing them and they wanted her to move her car. OK, they wanted her to get out at the point when they shot her, but frankly you can see why she didn't. Do ICE officers have any powers to issue orders to US citizens anyway?

Why should the penalty for driving away be that you get shot? They had the car reg. number, it's not as if they were going to have any difficulty tracing her if they really needed to. It can't conceivably justify killing someone.

One officer is shouting at her to get out often vehicle another is shouting to move the vehicle out of the way. She was following orders she was doing what one of the officers was shouting at her to do.

Well I don't know. However to pretend it is just perfectly OK to ignore police with no consequences is also a bit odd. What if the police just turn a blind eye to everything and terrorist get away with attacks because you know there are zero consequences. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

  1. ICE are not the police.
  2. She was being given conflicting directions from ICE
  3. I'd rather discuss why some people believe death is an appropriate punishment for ignoring requests from law enforcement. How far do we take this? Should we start shooting people for not paying court fines?

I think the interesting observation here is that she’s a white, blonde woman.

Now we know it isn’t the colour of the victim which justifies the killing, its the fact its law enforcement doing it; and law enforcement look to be unquestioningly supported.

How was their murder of this poor woman enforcing the law? ICE agents may arrest those committing a federal crime, including US citizens. What crime was she committing? They may temporarily detain someone they suspect may be in the country illegally. There's no evidence they thought she was an illegal immigrant. If they felt that an unarmed mother, sitting in her vehicle was somehow committing a criminal offence, they could have arrested her. Murdering unarmed citizens is NOT the first option any law enforcement officer is taught.

It's the men - ignore - they wind up with brainless comments to create rage. Same on every thread.

The thing is, I do ignore usually but at this stage, it is impossible to have a good faith discussion about anything. Different opinions I have no problem with, deliberate agitation (and yes, from men, it is glaringly obvious from linguistic patterns) is just common now on nearly very thread I might have an interest in contributing to.

Anyway, RIP to that poor woman who was murdered.

Thing is we've not been shown earlier video of her blocking the road, plus there are lots of cars in the area with flashing police lights. She knew that they were police/ice and was deliberately stopping them by blocking the Road. Ice officials cover their faces through fear of attack outside of work as it's such a contentious issue with some people taking direct and often violent action against them.

If you view the other angle of video and not the one shown by the BBC she does start to drive at the ice agent...but he is very very quick to shoot.

In a country where police carry guns and so do criminals and gun crime is a massive issue, she was absolutely stupid to try to prevent the police removal of alleged illegal immigrants on her own in a car. She was stupid to not let the first policeman open the door and to not cooperative with him. That said the policeman was way to quick to shoot and had drawn his weapon when she was stationary. It's interesting that none of his colleagues drew their guns.

So whilst she was stupid that doesn't give him the excuse to shoot her.

One car drives past her as she’s trying to get out of her driveway (her husband was in the car with her). She then tries to wave on the ICE vehicle, which has space to pass her, but they get out and accost her instead.

This nonsense about her blocking the ICE cars is just restating Trump’s gaslighting BS.

One officer is shouting at her to get out often vehicle another is shouting to move the vehicle out of the way. She was following orders she was doing what one of the officers was shouting at her to do.

Not a situation that would occur in the UK, if UK police officers followed their training.

But these goons aren't trained officers. In fact their only real connection to trained law enforcement officers will be the fact that are either on the run from law enforcement or have been released from custody to be agents.

Has anyone popped up to say that regardless of this, the deceased was probably guilty of something anyway ? That's certainly been how some people have made their peace with innocent people being executed in the past.

Watch the video. The bottom feeder who shot her walked from behind the car to the front, he wasn’t even on her radar. There is no justifying this!

...and if you did, you would not be gunned down, there would have to be clear evidence of a threat, a bomb, a gun etc.

This woman was told to move, she tried too and was murdered.

Really do have to be mixed up to think otherwise or just trying to enflame, the earlier link by the NY Times, shows where he was when he fired, he was in no danger.

There is no way the people on these threads are regular posters. The things being said are an absolute disgrace @mumsnet and pretty much the last straw for me on this site, that was once a community and is now yet another polarised, edgelord-filled sewer. You need to sort it out.

I don't think they can. This is the Internet now. One of the biggest social platforms has an AI that generates CSA images and bikini photos of anyone any fool requests. People use AI to create their arguments for them and as AI just draws on whatever is already on the Internet, the edgelords can just fill the Internet up with shite and get AI to keep churning it out and putting more of the same out there for future AI content. It's a massive, inhuman, brainless ouroboros of wankery, they train it on a woman dead thanks to rogue lethal authoritarians who will never see justice, and they think it makes them clever.
