Gloriia
" the whole thing was absolutely avoidable, don't obstruct law enforcement officers then behave in an erratic threatening manner."

It wasn't her that was behaving in an erratic, threatening manner.

Apparently, she has been on this for hours. Anti Ice trained activist. Her wife gave some details that she herself asked her to attend this location and feel responsible now. I know protesting is legal but interfering the way she was putting her life in danger was not very wise. I know if I have three kids I would find other ways to protest.

Edited

I thought she was shot at 9.30 in the morning? Yet Trump claims she d 'harassing' ICE all day and you say she d been there for hours. AFAIK there was a big ICE prescence outside the school around the corner at drop off which is why people in the area were staying to observe and record where they are allowed to do, and that's why there were so many ICE officers on the street so soon after the shooting. Have you read something different?

If someone is coming at you with a car you actually can shoot them, it’s considered self defense.

Watch the video. She wasn't "coming at him". You can't make it true simply by saying it over and over again.

Not really relevant given that she clearly wasn't trying to hit the guy in any case, but hypothetically, if someone was driving a car towards me with the intention of running me over, my instinct would be to move out of the way rather than to shoot the driver - after all, shooting the driver would not halt the car in any case?

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 09/01/2026 13:20

Completely agree. It's chilling indeed to see people effectively arguing that this woman somehow had it coming to her because she allegedly dared to protest against the actions of federal officers.

How far the land of the free has fallen.

It will fall ever further as this may not even come to trial. Trump was proposing blanket bans on the prosecution of law enforcement officers who 'kill in the line of duty '; and he's also trumpeting - 'nothing to see here'.

Does anyone remember the Windrush scandal - detained and ‘returned’ to countries they had never even been to because ‘paperwork’ wasn’t clear.
Would some folk be ok with that happening again then - not so many years back the U.K. was appalled by this. What has happened to us?
I don’t know the US immigration system except to be born there gives birthright citizenship (currently at least) which appears to be being ignored at times. There surely is no law that says ‘also must have good English’? Though it may be on some entry visa requirements, I don’t know.
How are the illegal immigrants being identified? I’d have thought via work place raids, checking visa systems for expired visas etc? But actually just assuming or guessing is it? And that’s ok?
I’m not surprised there are protests about this - I am surprised people think it’s ok to kill the same and have not one tiny issue with how immigration officers are working.
It won’t stop with illegal immigrants - well it already hasn’t - when it’s your turn to be out of favour because someone ‘guessed’ or ‘imagined’ you were doing something wrong, or maybe you just spoke out of MAGA turn (which is Gard to keep abreast of anyway) - then don’t be surprised when your beloved MAGAs agree it was fine to shoot you 3x in the head in the street.

In the case of that guy I mentioned, he was caught as part of a worksite raid. He couldn’t speak English and his own brother (also at the worksite) was an illegal alien.

He apparently couldn’t speak English either. And we were supposed to sympathize with this guy, so separate from American society that he couldn’t speak the local language?

A different angle, but looks to me like the ICE officer walked in front of a car that was reversing to pull out and stopped in front of it. Why? No one stands in front of a vehicle that they are trying to detain the driver of, even when they have the authority to detain them, and certainly not a moving vehicle

Unless there is an alternative- there was, he could have got out of the way. This is what the law states in the US if you trouble to read it through, not just the bits you like.
I mean, that’s what folk do on SVU - quite dramatically at times. This guy could actually have sauntered out of the way, she was moving so slowly, like he did after shooting her and the car then speeding dangerously.
These police procedural type dramas really need updating if they’re so wrong.
Don’t mean to be flippant but it’s my despair response.

I saw the video. I don’t think she meant to hit him, I think she didn’t know when she backed up that he was right in front of her.

To me it seemed that he wasn’t in front of her until she reversed. I don’t think he stepped in front of her, I think she was aligned that way when she back up. Not intentionally imho but how can he read her mind?

She was trying to drive away (fast) ICE agent thought she was driving straight into him.

Do you have the links?

Moontan · 09/01/2026 13:51

Its just awful.

The USA is more trigger happy than us, for a start.

You can clearly see on the video that she lets a car go ahead of her. Then she waves to let the ICW car go ahead of her.

Why the fuck did he shoot her. Its an abuse of power.

And if he did feel threatened by her car and felt he had to shoot, why didnt he do a non lethal shot.

Why didnt he shoot her in the arm.

He shot her straight in the face three times

RingoJuice · 09/01/2026 13:51

PevenseygirlQQ · 09/01/2026 12:37

Illegal Alien 😂 .I’m sure many natives and native Hawaiians think of Americans as the same.

I hope ICE “accidentally” detain you, I’m sure you’ll be understanding if they do.

Not being able to speak English is not a valid reason to be detained. Will they start detaining German/French/Moroccan people ok holiday if they are not speaking English?

You can’t just pluck people off the streets because they speak another language. USA’s “own” language is English…. which is technically a foreign language.

They detain people from those visas if they work on the wrong type of visa. If you are on a tourist visa and are found on a worksite, you’ve got some explaining to do

If he kept walking he would have been even further out of the way when she moved forward than he was

Moontan · 09/01/2026 13:53

Trumps statement is disgusting. No sympathy for a mother that was killed.

He is just insulting and blaming her.

We are getting into far right times

OK, so we agree that she clearly wasn't a threat.

Don't you think that a rational person would simply step away from the car instead of shooting the driver?

Moontan · 09/01/2026 13:55

Did you guys see the video where ICE wouldnt let a Doctor go and help the injured woman.

He says "im a doctor"

Ice guy says "i dont care"

Ice guys are notoriously heavy handed.

Theres loads of videos of them being aggressive

The US doesn’t have an official language as it goes. Nor does it have requirements for citizens to speak English. It only has some English requirements for naturalisation and even then there are exceptions.
Many languages are spoken in the US for many reasons. This guy clearly managed to work and live - what is he doing in his own community that offends you? what standard of US literacy are you now insisting everyone should have?
I do agree that there are barriers to accessing certain things in society without literacy but many many people will be society illiterate even those directly descended from the founding fathers - are they all at fault? They too would struggle under official interview and I feel for them all.
If someone plainly cannot speak the same language as the arresting officer then a translator is required.
And so yes I do have sympathy for him and others caught up in something absolutely not of his own making.
I will keep an eye out for illiteracy being an executable offence now - cheers.

I think the worst part is that they murdered her in cold blood. I'd like to see them charged with that, personally.

With the obstruction of medical assistance being considered as an aggravating factor.

I don't agree with their actions, and "I don't care," was absolutely the wrong response and says a lot about ICE's attitude and regard for human life but in fairness to them, they had no way of verifying that the bystander was a Dr and not someone who wanted to photograph Renee's body or otherwise cause harm or distress.

The same excuse cannot be applied to their refusal to allow the ambulance access.

English is not the USA's official language.

You would think you would know that
