A number of (credible) news organisations have now named a suspect. If they are correct, then at least he can be investigated.

This isn’t a tit for tat situation. When people are issued with weapons and acting on behalf of the state we need to hold them to a higher level of accountability than a random member of the public.

They might encounter someone who doesn’t hear them, doesn’t understand English, panics... All totally normal things an officer can expect to encounter dealing with the public who aren’t trained for these sorts of situations. Shooting them dead can only be justified when there is no other option.

Everyone sane hates Trump. That aside, there's the NY Times video and The Washington Post. Nothing except the grainy, edited, debunked footage indicates what you suggest.

I did read an article in the guardian I think. About a year ago. To do with ice agents on Mexican border. 😴 Slightly crazy really. Where agents would jump in front of a car if the someone tried to escape in a car...some would contrive to get into that situation, and consequently be granted licence to kill, ostensibly in self defence. The article referred to agents seeking this out. Google the article, as I read it a year ago.

A little more information has trickled through. This officer was (it is reported) injured in an arrest some months ago where he was dragged along by a vehicle some 100 feet and was hospitalised needing 20 stitches in his arm and another 13 in his opposite hand (edit to clarify this)

I wonder if he’s mentally suitable now to be conducting these arrests, he may have PTSD

I'm quite successful in not being run over by adhering to my second suggestion. If that fails, the first suggestion always works. I have been run over precisely 0 times since practicing this.

This video is a very clear, frame by frame, slow motion breakdown of it unfolding. By the time he fired he was clear of the car. He went on to fire a further 2 times through the open window.
