To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

What is also very odd is that MSM (other than the two papers quoted already) such as the BBC and Guardian, are basically parroting the Government's stance i.e. that it's great that this man has been released from jail in Egypt, where he was a known agitator, last September. After extensive lobbying by the current Government, aided and abetted by the likes of luvvies such as Olivia Colman and most disappointingly Judi Dench, he was allowed to leave Egypt to come to the UK where he has a teenage son living in Brighton. His mother was another hunger striker while he was still in jail.

Neither the Beeb nor the Guardian has made any mention of the online hatred and divisive comments spouted by Alaa Abdel Fattah.

I too was disappointed when I read about Judi's support. What would M think! 😳

Yanbu, I agree with you, it’s an insane thing for the prime minister to tweet out, ridiculous

I also agree and it's these crackpot behaviours that will mean he's ousted at next election.

GarliceGran · 28/12/2025 11:41

Can anyone who wants this man in the UK please explain why?

We are still waiting for @JamesClyman to answer. She knows something the rest of us don't, by all accounts.

That's the problem though, he's listening to only his main electorate. Sod the rest of us.

All 23 of of them 🤣🤣
As least Tony Blair had a bit of charisma. Starmer is like a robot . He needs to get some fire in his belly 😉

Same here. I wonder if Judi Dench has changed her mind since the revelations this week. Colman can do one.

His top priority should be listening to the Electorate and doing what they voted for, instead of cosying up to people who hate the British. Hes absolutely tone deaf. Every time he opens his mouth its another win for Reform.
I shan't be attending any crowded events anytime soon and Ive told my loved ones to do the same

He’s more than tone deaf. He’s an incompetent fool and an embarrassment. This isn’t his first blunder.

He’s virtue signalling to people like this man, that hate him. Very odd man.

OonaStubbs · 28/12/2025 12:26

Starmer needs to go, and quickly. This is the final straw.

Lots of celebs support causes without really giving them too much thought. Often it’s ’harmless’ stuff like retweeting something about raising money for a kid with cancer. But sometimes it’s stuff like this.

what normally happens is the that well-connected activists reach out to the agents of certain celebs - especially those keen to support particular causes. They say ‘we’re trying to put pressure on the government to free a human rights campaigner who’s been unjustifiably imprisoned abroad, would you mind signing this letter and maybe tweeting a few comments in support.?’ The celeb doesn’t spend hours doing any research, they just go ‘yeah, no probs.’ Job done, lots of progressive points for very little effort. And usually they get away with it.

The right wing media also apparently made no investigations when Starmer and his ministers were trying to get this man released. There have been no warnings in the media in advance of his release that I am aware of.

Only now he has actually been released has it become a big story. Maybe because he has headed straight to the UK & been enthusiastically welcomed by Starmer and co. Plus we are particularly aware of the threat posed by antisemitism at the moment, given recent attacks by extremists such as the one at Bondi Beach.

Totally agree, though the cynic in me would suggest the media knew about this guy and waited for the right time time to release the story.

It is rather worrying that we seem to have to rely on the media to find things out about national security.

Both Sunak and Starmer campaigned to get this man released yet neither of their teams or the security services did any background checks into his beliefs... esp when Sunak granted him UK citizenship.

.... a pp said "Bizarre" i would suggest "Frightening" would be more accurate?

Fluffyholeysocks · 28/12/2025 12:36

I think its time for a technocratic government. Both Labour and the Tories have shown themselves incapable of Governance. I want people with experience and expertise, don't care about their political affiliations. I just want competence.

Fair point. But he should havebeen arrested on arrival, not welcomed by the PM.

Arrested for what?

The messages he put on Twitter over 10 years ago. Even if they do constitute inciting hatred it wouldn't have been a crime back then.

It shows how out of touch many theatre / luvvies are, together with the BBC who prefers to ignore the tweets and Starmer who is delighted and makes the man’s return a priority. Totally out of touch, dangerous even.

That lesson was learned when Graham Linehan was arrested at Heathrow.

It’s not a question of wanting him. He’s a British citizen and most of us don’t support or trust a government withdrawing citizenship from anyone.

His tweets may have fallen foul under 2 communications acts, strangely enough, we don't have a specific offence of Holocaust Denial.

But either way, its v worrying two Governments had no idea about his earlier tweets... with Sunak & Patel granting him citizenship.

He was granted citizenship as an adult, just 3 years ago.

Totally different from someone born with that right.

Its legitimate to ask why this was done with no background checks.

It does seem a coincidence that the Telegraph broke this story when they did, so I think you could possibly be right to be cynical.

If it was a trap then Starmer, Lammy & co walked right into it and Sunak would have done the same given the opportunity.

I think most people would support taking away someone’s citizenship if they were a terrorist extremist whose views are on social media for all to see. If you have to apply for it then it should be just as easy to take it away.
