To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Twiglets1 · 27/12/2025 20:14

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

It's very ill advised and alienating.

@Alexandra2001 you’ve got a bee in your bonnet that Sunak was culpable too & needs punishing if the electorate are to blame Starmer. But the reality is, we have no way of punishing Sunak for his past errors of judgement (putting it kindly) because he’s not doing the same job any more.

The prime minister of this country shouldn’t be welcoming extremists into the UK in my opinion. If people disagree they can vote YABU. If they agree then they vote YANBU.

Have read what i have said across several posts?

.... that Starmer should revoke this mans citizenship...

My "Bee" as you put it, is that this whole thing, by the Tories and media is political opportunism.

The 'right wing media made no such investigations when Sunak was prioritising his release did they?

I've not said anyone should be "punished" either, i actually said both men have been let down by their teams/dept's who should have been all over this....

But if anyone has questions to answer its Patel, she gave him citizenship.

Fluffyholeysocks · 28/12/2025 10:08

Ah right, because the Tories fucked up the Labour Gov were forced to make this man their 'top priority' after 18 months in Government. And they really aren't ,'delighted' he's in the UK. Got it

EasternStandard · 28/12/2025 10:16

Fluffyholeysocks · 28/12/2025 09:15

So if Starmer didn't know, why describe this man as his top priority?

Yep this.

treaconometrie · 28/12/2025 10:21

EasternStandard · 28/12/2025 10:16

Yep this.

If Starmer isn't suitably and comprehensively briefed about the people he welcomes and praises publicly that's rather worrying, isn't it?

Gloriia · 28/12/2025 10:23

Just appalling. Wtf is wrong with anyone in government that they don't get their minions to do a cursory search of social media posts.

He should be deported or locked up for inciting hate and vioience as other people have been.

You'd think a former barrister may check details before issuing 'so very delighted that this anti semitic terrorist will be back in the UK!' posts.

ZenLikeAlways · 28/12/2025 10:28

Yeah. Of course he did.

The right wing media also apparently made no investigations when Starmer and his ministers were trying to get this man released. There have been no warnings in the media in advance of his release that I am aware of.

Only now he has actually been released has it become a big story. Maybe because he has headed straight to the UK & been enthusiastically welcomed by Starmer and co. Plus we are particularly aware of the threat posed by antisemitism at the moment, given recent attacks by extremists such as the one at Bondi Beach.

Oh fgs there is an anti semitic, terrorist promoting jihadist being welcomed into the country. Focus on that rather than 'yeah but no but the Tories did it'. They aren't in government now releasing cheerleading sickening posts about how simply darling this is. 'Political opportunism' Confused, it's a national security issue!

Whoever cleared him in the first place is to blame yes but equally someone could've don'e some due diligence since then and realised just who in earth they were desperate to bring in to the UK.

GarliceGran · 28/12/2025 10:45

Can anyone explain why the man was in jail in Egypt in the first place?

@Twiglets1 I have no opinion on the person you're talking about.

I do, however have an opinion on people like Yaxley Lennon and thought we might have a commen cause - people we don't want in this country.

You read all that about Alaa Abd el-Fattah and you have “no opinion” on him?

This speaks volumes.

Your thread title is 'To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?' surely this includes the extremist Israeli president who was invited over to be schmoozed by him? Why is it off topic to talk about the fact that Starmer makes a habit out of welcoming extremists? Sure didn't he have something to say about it when extremist racist Israelis were banned from a football match too, he seemed to think it was very important then those extremist were welcomed too despite their well documented history of racist violence.

The person who is displaying racism here is you.

MissyB1 · 27/12/2025 21:01

I was clearly pointing out that we all no doubt think that does bizarre and highly questionable things at times. You aren’t happy at his position on this particular guy, I was fucking horrified at him welcoming the Israeli president - part of an extremist regime. Guess it depends on our individual definitions of “extremist” doesn’t it?

I tell you what. Why don’t you take every quote from Alaa Abd el-Fattah and match it with the equivalent quote from Netanyahu? We’ll wait.

HappyFace2025 · 28/12/2025 11:07

What is also very odd is that MSM (other than the two papers quoted already) such as the BBC and Guardian, are basically parroting the Government's stance i.e. that it's great that this man has been released from jail in Egypt, where he was a known agitator, last September. After extensive lobbying by the current Government, aided and abetted by the likes of luvvies such as Olivia Colman and most disappointingly Judi Dench, he was allowed to leave Egypt to come to the UK where he has a teenage son living in Brighton. His mother was another hunger striker while he was still in jail.

Neither the Beeb nor the Guardian has made any mention of the online hatred and divisive comments spouted by Alaa Abdel Fattah.

Indeed. I have yet to see Netanyahu, or any British Jew, stir up hatred and kill or maim innocent British people on British soil.

He caused a lot of political unrest in Egypt over many years.

Surely if someone is your 'top priority,' you'd have full knowledge of this person's views on the jewish community?

His top priority should be listening to the Electorate and doing what they voted for, instead of cosying up to people who hate the British. Hes absolutely tone deaf. Every time he opens his mouth its another win for Reform.

That's the problem though, he's listening to only his main electorate. Sod the rest of us.
