Mood Run GIF by SWR Kindernetz

Just to counter the fabulous threads on 'worst gift' and 'whats first to the charity shop' - is there anyone who's really pleased with a gift? Maybe something you didn't ask for or know you needed, but that you are really happy about or looking forward to using?
What was your best gift?

(My BIL gave me a hedgehog house he had built - and I am utterly thrilled as I've always wanted to get one for the garden but it's never been a priority I could justify getting myself)

Aww what a lovely thoughtful gift!

My partner got me a cardigan I’ve been wanting for a while but couldn’t justify buying myself as it was quite expensive.

My mum make me a lovely food hamper with olives, crackers, chocolate, wine etc.

Tuxedo cat Lego from DH. We have my late mum's Tuxedo cat

Aparecium · 26/12/2025 10:33

Dd gave me a personalised embossing gadget, plus 120 gold stickers to emboss, so that I can label my books without damaging them. Beautiful idea!

Foxybyname · 26/12/2025 10:33

Ugg clogs.
It's great having a DD that knows me so well, and is happy to direct her brother too.

My partner got me a hot stone massage kit. We’re going away for 4 days tomorrow and he’s packed it in our suitcase already! My MIL surprised me with Ted Baker PJs which I was thrilled with. DSS loved his gift of rally car racing and learning to drift experiences. It’s been a lovely Christmas so far.

I had lots of lovely things. From dh and dc I had a big pack of new colouring pens ( I love colouring, it helps me switch off), and a sweet shop candle holder, tea pig tea bags. I was pleased as I'd dropped hints that was what I would like. I had a lovely coat from my mum, as well as some other bits (including the same candle holder, which she will change for a different one) and was spoiled by my sister. I feel bad as she got me and dh gifts, plus a £150 voucher for a restaurant. Very very kind and generous. I also had some lovely gifts from friends and my in laws, so all in all I was very lucky and loved all the things I received.

A lovely pair of Paul Smith leather gloves

Vicliz24 · 26/12/2025 10:46

I had a heated throw and a bottle of tia Maria for making gorgeous hot chocolate.

Imbrocator · 26/12/2025 10:47

Gloves and socks. Genuinely thrilled with them!

Months ago I was chatting to DH about how I can’t really wear eyeliner anymore because my eyelid moves when I pull the pencil along. Separately, weeks later he was asking what Victoria Beckham does nowadays and I said all I know is she apparently makes super soft eyeliners that are really easy to apply but mega expensive.

And one of my presents was a VB eyeliner. It was so thoughtful that I welled up a bit.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/12/2025 10:50

My MIL got me a pan I asked for and I love it! So excited to use it. She’s bought me a lot of kitchen related things over the years (at my request) plus a gorgeous set of Jane Austen’s books.

I think it was this that really got me - that feeling of being genuinely thrilled and grateful is lovely

Vouchers for a seaside sauna from my siblings; beautiful brooch from a local silversmith from mum; opal earrings from the kids; book I wanted from DH and he also gave me lots of foodie treats. Really delighted with everything. Kids love all their things. A very successful Christmas!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 26/12/2025 11:50

A new coffee cup from DD to drink my iced coffee from. I genuinely love it. Also some really warm fleeced pyjamas from my sister. I am permanently freezing cold so looking forward to snuggling up in these later on!

Mermaidsarereal · 26/12/2025 11:52

My dad got me my favourite perfume (Dior J'adore) which I wasn't expecting as it's expensive! I was over the moon to have it again.

PenelopePoopStop · 26/12/2025 11:54

My DS10 bought me a heated blanket, my favourite chocolates, a new phone case and a cute cat nightlight ❤️ but the best gift was him deciding to go full mum TLC last night - I dozed off on the sofa, and he wrapped me up in my new blanket, put his new noise cancelling headphones on me with relaxing music, settled his sister who was struggling to draw something, then came and snuggled up with me and stroked my hair. I haven’t felt so loved and cared for in such a long time. I’m welling up describing it!

Blueeyedtiger · 26/12/2025 11:55

A year of dates’ already booked, one each month for the whole of next year. Some were theatre trips, a couple of nice restaurants, and some are weekends away! So incredibly thoughtful. I cried.

I hope you realise that this is probably your fault. You appear to be bringing up a lovely young man-to-be. 🤩

TinselTitts · 26/12/2025 12:57

DS2 and his GF got us tickets for Abba Voyage!

Really looking forward to it, although it's not until May.

It's brilliant, you'll have a lovely time.

I got a nice cheese, crackers and port hamper from DH. Looking forward to digging into that later. MIL bought me an amaryllis in gold wax. I have the perfect spot for it and I can't wait until it flowers.

Simbaonedaythiswillallbeyours · 26/12/2025 13:10

I bought myself the giant Lego T-Rex.

Thanks Flowers

I've only ever heard good things about it.

My neighbour said she loved it but refused to clap at the end because 'they're not real' 🤣🤣
