Just to counter the fabulous threads on 'worst gift' and 'whats first to the charity shop' - is there anyone who's really pleased with a gift? Maybe something you didn't ask for or know you needed, but that you are really happy about or looking forward to using?
What was your best gift?

(My BIL gave me a hedgehog house he had built - and I am utterly thrilled as I've always wanted to get one for the garden but it's never been a priority I could justify getting myself)

Every year we stay in Provence; they have a straw broom that I absolutely love. It makes me feel like a housekeeping witch.

DH sourced it for me.

He also got me the the best watercolour set and sketching pad, a piano sheet music AND a WORM FARM!

I've been wanting a worm farm forever and people dismiss the idea and just buy me other (beautiful, expensive) presents because they can't actually believe I'm serious.

DH got me the best set up and a voucher for the earthworms so I can get them next spring.

He knows me and he sees me. The best.

Having DS2 home for Christmas from his first term at Cambridge and having time off work to spend with him and DH

Beautiful diamond earrings from husband. We don’t normally do gifts and focus on the kids but we are in the middle of a potentially life changing diagnosis pathway and I know he worries that this might be our last Christmas or last normal one. He is a sentimental old grump. Asked me to not keep them for good so what is a girl to do.

He did also say that if everything works out I’ll not be getting another present for 10 years due to cost. I’ll be happy with that.

I have got tickets to see Paddington at The Savoy theatre later this year. I am so excited. 😊

Dd2 got me a heated foot muff. It's bloody brilliant!

I chose a lot of my gifts but of the ones I didn’t know about I loved this picture of our dog on the bog , a gorgeously soft muslin blanket and a framed original movie poster of my favourite film - truly madly deeply

My fabulous DP bought us a nights stargazing in Wales, I actually cried bevause it was so thoughtful. Last year it was a telescope and before that was a star named after me, so really running with a theme! Clearly next year it will be a trip to the moon.

In second place was a vintage handbag so beautiful that I've hung it up as art, it's literally delicious. That was from my mum and we aren't particularly close but she does a good gift!!

I was also very touched to received small thoughtful gifts from my teenagers bought in good time with their own money and wrapped. It meant a lot

Our son bought us a new Mathmos lava lamp - it's violet with turquoise wax and it's bloody awesome. It has a vinyl base and top and I couldn't have chosen better myself. We got loads of Amazon vouchers which we're going to use to buy a sous vide and all the stuff that goes with that and we bought ourselves a food dehydrator - it's been a fab Christmas and I feel like we've received some fantastic gifts!

A lovely Wuthering Heights embossed, illustrated vase from my amazing DH. So thoughtful. WH is my all time favourite novel and I even have a WH themed tattoo. Many other thoughtful gifts too from dh and also ds and dm. I feel very fortunate and thoroughly spoilt.

Crufts tickets! So chuffed. The tickets are for the hounds and terriers groups.

I also got new boots, chocolate and slippers.

I also have 4 alcohol based gifts that I've already re-gifted in my head as I don't drink.

I got some lovely presents this year, I've been very lucky. My DS got me tickets to see Jason Derulo which was very unexpected but very much appreciated!!

Buy it! It retires in December 2026 so no better excuse!

@JustFishI had some wonderful gifts. A beautiful patchwork quilt, a lovely coffee table book, some soaps from The White Company, some beauty products from Clinique, a set of Pukka herbal teas, a silver necklace, a weekend bag, a box of cupcakes from Harrods, an absorbent piece of stone to be used as a shower mat. Those are just the highlights, I am truly grateful x

My daughter bought me the Cartier exhibition book from the V&A which is gorgeous I also had a new pair of Converse from DH and a Kindle voucher from DS. I'm very happy

My autistic daughter has gotten into felting. She made me a model of a Borzoi dog that we saw at Discover Dogs a few years ago (I said it was my fav breed)

She was so proud of it!
