Mood Run GIF by SWR Kindernetz

Just to counter the fabulous threads on 'worst gift' and 'whats first to the charity shop' - is there anyone who's really pleased with a gift? Maybe something you didn't ask for or know you needed, but that you are really happy about or looking forward to using?
What was your best gift?

(My BIL gave me a hedgehog house he had built - and I am utterly thrilled as I've always wanted to get one for the garden but it's never been a priority I could justify getting myself)

Tuxedo cat Lego from DH. We have my late mum's Tuxedo cat

I gave my grandson this. The big one. He finished it in a few hours and he’s very happy with his present. He didn’t know he was getting it. I told him to write 5 things down that he’d like and to just wait and see.

OttersMayHaveShifted · 28/12/2025 16:07

Some lovely earrings from dd. In second place is a sleeveless, lower thigh-length puffer coat from PIL. They can be quite random with what they choose, so it was a very welcome surprise. I even like the colour!

Biggles27 · 28/12/2025 16:08

I got a teabag Jellycat (Steepy) that I’ve been hunting high and low for and refuse to pay secondary market prices for! I know the shop it came from so know it’s genuine! I only have 6 Jellycats and they all mean something to me. I’m not just collecting as they’re collectible iyswim, just ones that mean something to me. I’m a huge tea drinker - as in 8-10 mugs a day

I also got jeans in a smaller size as DH was convinced I’d lost enough weight to fit them - and I have so I’m now wearing them! My fave brand, style and colour. He knows what a journey I’ve been on to lose weight and has given me so much support, emotionally and financially. He loved me huge (bmi of 46) and never criticised my weight or asked me to diet so I was very happy to get my jeans (over £110 a pair!!!!!)

I also got from DD a hand held gaming device that I wanted but couldn’t justify the price and DH bought me games for it - he’d secretly made notes on the games I’d expressed joy in playing on my friends device and got them for me

i was exceptionally spoilt this year!

@PenelopePoopStop what a lovely son you have there. So kind and thoughtful.

I received some lovely thoughtful things from dh who did all his own shopping this year without any help from the dds, he usually asks for their input but this year didn’t and everything he chose was great and will be put to great use. I’m one for practical things and stuff that I will use - he knows me well.
Dc also chose really thoughtful things - very sweet kids.

I got a Big Friendly Giant mug from the Sainsbury range this year and I love it. It's all I wanted. ❤️

My autistic daughter has gotten into felting. She made me a model of a Borzoi dog that we saw at Discover Dogs a few years ago (I said it was my fav breed)

She was so proud of it!

@SwankyPants This is so, so lovely 😍 Your daughter is so clever.

GinLover198 · 28/12/2025 16:29

We don’t do presents to each other but I’ve booked us a caravan holiday. Not glamorous but very us!

kerstina · 28/12/2025 16:31

Probably the Glossybox advent calendar which I had asked DH to get me.

Meadowfinch · 28/12/2025 16:35

My ds gave me the latest Strike book. My brother gave me a Boxbollen which is great fun and I gave myself a new red sweater. 😊

Menonut · 28/12/2025 17:15

My husband got me (among other things) a colour in blanket! I love it. As I permanently have a blanket over me it’s a brilliant present and gives me something to keep me occupied and stop the doom scrolling.

Heathotstuff · 28/12/2025 17:33

Oura ring - not sure what to do with this! It’s amazing though G

Darkdarkdeeds · 28/12/2025 17:48

Lovely idea for a thread. I was really pleased with everything I got but I loved a book of paper flowers to press out and make that one of my best friends got me. It is so totally up my street.

jeremyclarksonsthirdnipple · 28/12/2025 18:10

A pair of Strictly come dancing tickets for the live tour from my son.
And this may seem strange but I was moaning I was going to have to change my daughters carpet in her room and my lounge carpet too due to age in the new year..I got the money for both from my mum! I picked them today and I am so excited!

Wildywondrous · 28/12/2025 18:24

Dh and I don't buy for each other any more because there's nothing we need so we put a few hundred each in our "season pitch" fund that pays a big chunk of our static caravans annual fees.

My 10 year old dd didn't want me to have nothing on Christmas day so she cut a square of fabric, sewn on a bow and decorated it with various stitches she's learnt at school.
She also drew a lovely picture of a bunch of flowers and wrote 'flowers that you deserve'.
They're much better than anything they could have got me from the shops.

Hollyhollyhollyholly · 28/12/2025 18:30

My husband got me the shark flex - I have wanted a shark or Dyson for years but it’s not something i could ever justify buying for myself ! It was a shock as I didn’t expect him to spend that much on me! I love it! He also got me my favourite perfume and a Blakely hoodie ( again, the hoodies are £60 so I would never spend that much on myself but I have wanted one for ages )

Bloozie · 28/12/2025 18:35

All my Christmas presents were great. I didn’t get loads but they were all top drawer.

highlights… my teenage son bought and wrapped his gifts himself. He asked me to teach him how to wrap nicely and so we wrapped a few family presents together, and then he replicated on mine. This thoughtfulness melts my heart. The gift was good too - the latest book in a series I’m reading, and a pack of Pilates socks.

My husband bought me an art deco ornament by an artist I mentioned in passing that I like about 8 months ago.

Bloozie · 28/12/2025 18:36

Both of those gifts need framing. Gorgeous.

Skippydoodle · 28/12/2025 18:49

Mine was words - about a week before Xmas from DH. Get the bucket ready if you’re not the romantic type (we’re not either). ‘Every morning when I look over at you, I get an excited feeling, knowing I’m going to spend another day with Skippydoodle.’
It made me tear up, it’s the nicest thing anyone have ever said, ever. We are not ‘gushy’ don’t do valentines or birthdays or anniversaries etc and have been together 30y+

Drivinghomeforchristmas25 · 28/12/2025 19:07

DH is, and always has been, utterly brilliant at buying presents. For me. His total inability to buy presents for literally anyone else shall be overlooked for the purpose of this thread!
I got really thoughtful concert tickets with fab hotel booking, shoes (the correct size and utterly glorious) jewellery, clothes, my favourite snacks, skincare I’d been hankering after and perfume.

A lovely pair of Paul Smith leather gloves

Yes, mine was a pair of leather gloves too. I was over the moon with them!

JaceLancs · 28/12/2025 21:12

@sunflower85 glad you love your gift too!
I already had a black pair and my new ones are tan to go with neutral coats

pixiesaresmall · 28/12/2025 21:13

My teen got me some lovely gifts this year, all things that I really love and appreciate and make a difference to me. The best though, was the one she was most excited to give me as she said it was so me. It was a little wooden sign for say a desk with “fixer of everything” on it. I was so pleased as it’s just me and her in our house and whilst she does have a good relationship with dad, it’s me who does everything for her and the problem solver. I felt really appreciated for all I do for her 😊

TheShoeLady · 28/12/2025 23:32

Lots of lovely things from my adult DCs and DP but standout gift was this gorgeous old clock from DS to go with the 1970s vibe we’re cultivating here at the moment!

What was your best gift?
YesItsMeYesItsMe · 29/12/2025 01:34

Sheeran Looper + was my best gift :) Just wish the kids would give me a couple of consecutive hours of peace so I can have a go with it!!
