Right so they are gross - I’ve tried soaking in bleach after use I’ve tried it all and at the moment just keep buying a new one every month.

what do you do if you don’t use them?

if you’re going to come on and give me shit don’t bother, I’ve got OCD so cannot just do as you say but am looking for help

Teach your kids to make a hot cross bun before they go and you won’t have skids to contend with. If they somehow shit around that then just put bleach down and leave for a while.
I’ve never needed a toilet brush and I live in an extremely hard water area with sons! I just clean the toilet properly once a week, do the hot cross bun method and put bleach down every now and then.

What, pray tell, is a hot cross bun 😆 DS is 7, it's a need to know 😍

I actually just googled it hoping for an image but it seems this isn’t a universal term at all 🤣
make a cross in the toilet with toilet roll so it sort of catches it and leaves no skids. 2 squares of toilet roll one way and 2 the other should do it

This is amazing. So we have 3 toilets and one came with the house so at least 20 years old and is better - not as old as yours but good. Each newer one is worse! Hadn’t really thought about that before.

would love an older house with high ceilings :-)

This might be a problem with the flush, more than the toilet itself. Depends on if the toilet design is decent but the other problem can be that the flush just uses too little water and that the flush valve is, for want of a better description, crap. I can't remember what sort I have but my loo got much better at flushing once I had changed it out. If it would be helpful I'll take the cistern lid off and see if I can find out.
