To be concerned about a war?

Woke up this morning opened my SM and first posts I see are about a basically inevitably pending war with Russia. It’s the first I’ve heard of it. Sir Richard Knighton said the threat needs to be taken seriously and “called for greater honesty with uk families about what it means to prepare for the very real threat to national security”. He also said security situation is more dangerous than it has been at any point in his career and the UK can no longer rely on military forces alone to keep security safe. Finally the comment of “sons and daughters must be prepared to fight” it would take a “whole nation effort” and “families would have to face real sacrifice”

i mean wtaf? I certainly won’t be rushing to the frontline that’s for sure. What’s going on? Very concerned

Whilst we are in NATO and have our nuclear weapons we have a deterrent.

if we ever have neither, we will be in serious trouble.

What values do you think the Russians or similar would bring us?

We all know that you don't care about that, the drip, drip, drip to keep the population docile and sympathetic to the extreme right wing agenda, that's what you're about.

Do you consider describing people as having walnut sized brains to be the opposite of bitter and hateful? The opposite of a feeling of animosity or ill will towards someone being goodwill, friendliness, or cordiality?

I don't think so.

What 'goodwill' is being displayed in some these posts that are blatantly relishing the brutal methods to do what they want because uniformity of thought will save the day?

Indeed, I think walnut brain is mightily restrained when other posters have "hypothetically" advocated for shooting conscientious objectors and referred to them as drains on society.

Sorry you sound unhinged.

if the government needs you to fight for the countries survival you really won't have a choice. You will just be picked up and taken to a training camp. Unless you can hide indefinitely inside.

And yet we have an employment rights bill going through that allows you to go off sick on day one.

Labour would have to completely reverse the human rights framework to do this. Not happening.

Yes, it was, some scarily blood thirsty posters on here.

So witty...

Not witty just an observation.

The left have suddenly hopped into bed with Russia for no other reason than they’re being instructed to by their West-hating overlords, like Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn.

They will do anything at this point to bring about the dismantling and destruction of their own home and their children’s lives.

They’re insane.

Your mighty brain is going to protect you In the event of a war, is it? I hope they’re all like you. It will mean they’ll be more resources for the fittest in the event of armageddon.

And you’ve openly said you won’t even fight back. Good. v

You reckon do you? What a load of incoherent nonsense. I know it can be challenging but do you honestly only think that everyone who doesn't agree with you is a big wokey Corbyn fan! I can't stand the man, I bet that's put a f**king spanner in your perpetual indignation machine!

@EssexMan55 ,

‘Just not true. They are currently increasing manufacture of missiles that can reach the UK. And we have no air defences against this currently.’

Do you not believe that the U.S would defend the U.K. if Russia fired missiles at us?!

Putin is foolhardy but he is not completely insane.

How long did it take America to come to our rescue last time in Europe? I seem to remember quite a long time And only when it was financially lucrative

A brain is probably useful to have when fighting in a war surely?

Have you thought about touching grass and doing some deep breathing? Might help your steadily rising blood pressure. Hypothetically.

How long was it exactly? So you were there then as you, "seem to remember"? I bet it felt like forever if you were there?

You do realise this perfectly illustrates the futility of the war you seem to be lusting after?

Do you believe the direction of travel with human rights and employment rights would suddenly be overridden and reversed by a labour government to enforce mandatory enlisting?

anniegun · 16/12/2025 15:38

We are at war with Russia , its just a cold war not a hot one (yet). We do actually have european soldiers fighting as hard as they can to defend Europe from Putin. But instead of fully funding and arming them (so their soldiers do all the fighting and not our children) we are keeping back the arms and support they need. Europe (inc the UK) has given more cash to Putin for oil and gas than it has used to supprt Ukraine. We should back Ukraine to the hilt as their blood sacrifices will prevent our boys and girls being killed when Russia moves on to its next target

Probably not, I would say being built like a brick shit house would come in a lot more handy. Don’t need to outrun the enemy, only need to outrun you.
Hypothetically speaking, of course

Nobody is lusting over a war. I’ve merely pointed out that nobody will be asking you to sign a consent form as to whether you agree to being used as Cannon fodder.
Your consent is not required in these scenarios

I need to see his children and grandchildren first volunteering to fight. Also, politician's children too.

Well it’s hasn’t because he isn’t the only one. Trade Union leaders, commentators, activists, all left wing people in thrall to Russia. From their ivory towers of course. It’s sickening.
