Tree fairy

Every year I float the idea of a Christmas fairy to top the tree. DH and DCs all claim that a star is the ornament that should be used. We have both. AIBU to think that a fairy is THE CORRECT tree topper?

We don't have a tree topper. I used to put dds Shepard puppet up there that she made when she was about 4 but it's falling to pieces a little bit. Atm there some handmade yarn wreath thing that she's made balanced on the top of the tree 😂

LivingDeadGirlUK · 11/12/2025 11:19

Do people really have fairies on their trees? What do fairies have to do with Christmas? Surely you mean an angel?

Sunflower3000 · 11/12/2025 11:22

I’d prefer a star, but they’re all too heavy to actually sit on the top of a real tree without some serious jiggery pokery, so this year we’ve got an angel that is still bit wonky but unlikely to fall off. Fairy… hmm, not really, unless it’s quite an angelic fairy

SeaAndStars · 11/12/2025 11:26

Fairy.
You can have a star up in your house all year round, but what other time of year do you get the opportunity to put a doll in a net skirt, wand and a tinsel hat out on display.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 11/12/2025 11:27

I’m only a poor little fairy
Stuck up at the top of the tree
They turned on the lights
And bang went my tights
And off fell my legs 1, 2, 3

sorry, as you were

Timebudda · 11/12/2025 11:27

Star.
Only because if i was an angel on top of a tree I wouldn't want a branch up my skirt.

Sartre · 11/12/2025 11:28

Well, we have a gingerbread man wearing a party hat this year. We’ve had pompom stars and even Percy Pig one year. Really doesn’t matter, it isn’t that deep.

SeaAndStars · 11/12/2025 11:28

My neighbour has an orange plastic version of the Angel of the North on top of her tree. It's fabulous.

scrivette · 11/12/2025 11:30

An angel on top of my main tree and stars on the top of the others. For many years I had my own Barbie in a home made dress sitting on the top until a friend gave me her Angel. I am still on the hunt for the perfect Angel though (20 years and going!)

ChocolateCinderToffee · 11/12/2025 11:31

We had a fairy when I was growing up. Our neighbour had a blown glass ‘steeple’ that actually looked like something off the Kremlin. I’m in Team Star.

Mulledjuice · 11/12/2025 11:33

This is like the Santa Claus/Father Christmas chat that gets postioned as a right/wrong debate too.

YABU to think there is one correct item. We have a fried egg

MsGinaLinetti · 11/12/2025 11:34

Exactly @NooNakedJacuzziness

Fairy. Christmas trees are not religious (except for the utterly fabulous birthday Jesus on the ornaments Thread, I really want one of those)

MsGinaLinetti · 11/12/2025 11:34

Fried egg! That's unique.

We have Santa on top of our tree now, but it was an angel/fairy when I was a child.

SwiftWatching · 11/12/2025 11:42

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 11/12/2025 08:03

We have an angel. A star is good too. Never, ever a fairy. You might as well have a hobbit or unicorn or some other fictional creature that is nothing to do with Christmas.

Sorry to break it to you but angels are also fictional creatures.
Stars are real, as is Santa 😆 so Santa sits on ours currently

Randomlygeneratedname · 11/12/2025 11:52

My mum likes a tree fairy, we like a star. My mum always has a tree fairy and inevitably one of us (30yrs +) children will reposition the fairy so the head lights up a flashing red from a Christmas light. It looks demonic.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 11/12/2025 11:54

We have an angry snowman that our son made out of a polystyrene cup on top of our Christmas tree!

Which is not Christmas.

I explained all that! 😂

No, you gave your opinion. We're allowed to differ.

In my view, Christmas is for Christians. Otherwise its, Treemas, or Presentmas or Boozemas.

You've got the wrong poster.
I've never said anything about opinions or not being allowed to differ.

Mmmm...how do you know angels are fictional creatures??
disclaimer: I'm not saying you're not allowed an opinion or only one view of Christmas counts!
