I've seen these threads before and thought how on earth did you not know! How big must your house be to have a secret room.
Our house is not massive, 4 bed, normal size not really old or anything.
But there's a super creepy room. Hidden at the back of the loft, It's got carpet, wall paper and even spot lights! And a director's chair... just sitting in the middle of it! It's weird.

Sorry - that was to @PUGMEISTER21 but for some reason it didn't quote

me too! Wonder what it means?

marmalade007 · 08/12/2025 22:15

Sorry if you've answered but were there any connection points for cable etc. I assume you've checked for cameras. TV connection? If there's none of those then it's just someone who wanted a private space and made a shite job of the wallpaper. As I said before this should have been on your survey. I'd be going back to them . And def check everywhere else in the loft completely.

OMG I'd never be able to live in a house like that, way too scared.

Nice part of the South though.

Yes it's creepy no doubt about that, she showed me the entrance and it's pitch black even when you shine a torch down it, you can't see anything as it's very very dusty and covered in cobwebbs, that alone would put me off! You can tell it's not been used in centuries.

Need to tell the police . Then I would move could not stay especially with young children .

vitahelp · 08/12/2025 22:19

In your red circle is that not a door? So a door leading to Area C? I know it may not open or have a handle but it looks like a door frame?

Aluna · 08/12/2025 22:19

Whywhywhyyyy · 08/12/2025 22:02

Awful but same thing jumped to mind about child images. Half wall actually would make it easier to film/photograph. It’s like a spooky set. I would contact police. Hopefully it’s nothing.

You can’t call the police about an attic. People have lost their minds.

Well no i wouldnt call 999. I would take a photo and fill in the online form saying hopefully it’s nothing but it looks strange and I just thought to share. Hopefully nothing.

It's a dolls house

Anxietyspiral · 08/12/2025 22:27

You could make an absolutely epic loft conversion up there op, especially with all that extra space behind the boarded up area.

I'd happily put up with creepy backrooms wallpaper and hidden side doors for all that extra living space.

Agapornis · 08/12/2025 22:27

I'd LOVE to see the photos of the unknown space when you open it up. And I want to know about the funeral home call!

The best things from previous owners I've found in the loft are a mediocre quality telescope, and a small tile of a sheela na gig. The sheela na gig now lives in the downstairs toilet because she is...somewhat indecent 😅

Oh you need to post this on the facebook group called things found hidden in walls. It’s mainly Americans on there but they would go wild over it. They were confused over a vintage empty bottle of fairy someone found buried in their garden.😂😂😂

Oftenaddled · 08/12/2025 22:35

I'm still just seeing an attic here. It's totally normal to board off some parts of attics and not others. Half walls are normally struts which are structural and which you don't remove. Doors or panels to access eaves are normal. I've put a panel in myself for access to wiring and roof space. And where you put things in an attic doesn't depend on entry point only - it depends how easy it is to run wires, pipes if doing heating or plumbing, head height, wall space.

I am baffled by the assumption that there is anything sinister here. The OP hadn't removed a wall - the Sky man just referred to a space in the attic she and her husband hadn't noted. A survey would just refer to that attic as partially boarded, in my experience - might mention electrics depending on level of survey. It's not going to mention a bad wallpaper job on a corner of the attic.

I am amazed at how easy it is to cause mass panic with a couple of plasterboards, a folding chair and some yellow wallpaper.

Since there's no evidence this place had a door, never mind a lock, there's no reason to think anyone was locked up there any more than in any other loft. Since the "room" was not hidden, just not noticed, there is no reason to think anyone hid it for some sinister purpose. People really do seem to have gone a bit mad here. It's not a room, never mind a secret room.

The loft ... looks like a loft. Please don't cut through any beams or struts or rafters in search of anything sinister. You may damage your house.

me too! Wonder what it means?

Mum used to have dreams like this all the time when we were all crammed into a 2-up 2-down terrace. When they were able to get a bit more space (only a 3 bed house, nothing enormous!) they went away. Could that be it for you?

Oh yes, I follow that group. It seems like all the Americans are constantly finding things in their walls!

Right. I mean I was stoking at first for fun. Ghosts though not ritual abuse. But it’s not actually seriously scary in any way.

If that had been found in the attic the whole forum would be squawking. 🤣

PonkyPonky · 08/12/2025 22:48

DH used to live in a loft converted to a bedroom when he was a teenager. When he moved out, his parents converted it back to just a plain old loft with no windows but plenty of evidence remains of his teenage bedroom. I think that’s the kind of situation you have here. I’m not getting sinister vibes at all. Just ‘teenager needing their own space’ vibes.

Are you certain this is nothing to do with the people you live with?

DallazMajor · 08/12/2025 22:57

Is the other side of the boarded up wall over the top of your neighbours property?

Haha, I love my toilet Sheela. Nothing wrong with a bit of historical warding off evil by taking off your pants. I think she is modelled on the Kilpeck Church sheela near Hereford, with some amendments.
