To think Britain is getting more racist ?

Overt anti "foreigner" / anti non-white discussions appear to be normalised at times these days. I don't remember this in previous decades. Was it just under the surface ?

Yup. It was always there, but is now emboldened by constant social media propaganda, which I am certain will eventually be proven to be funded by Russia in an attempt to destabilise the Western world. This started during the Brexit campaign.

Completely agree.

Dweetfidilove · 28/11/2025 19:19

Racism has always being present. I've said this for years, but it's suited folks to deny this or compare where is more/most racist.

Of course, racists are now openly being so, and everyone believes it's growing or has come out of nowhere. No - people are just saying the previously quiet things out loud now.

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 28/11/2025 19:23

I'd say it's more of a numbers thing that has reached critical mass, coinciding with the decline of "the West" due to neo-liberal globalisation and the takeover of a country's autonomy by the trans national corporations.

ThePolarEspresso · 28/11/2025 19:35

The English need to wake up, some of us are your friends and we hate seeing what you are allowing being done to you, it's difficult to watch this happen to the peoples of a great and kind nation.

For those who hate the right, you may want to a look at the discourse you may be unaware of. Maybe some of you will wake up.

Wow. That's an "interesting" pretzel you've twisted yourself into there!

A pretzel which a lot of people agrees with

hyggetyggedotorg · 28/11/2025 19:38

I don’t know. I agree the whole “immigrants” thing has stirred up hate but in my small town I feel people are actually more open to other cultures than they’ve ever been.

For reference, we have no asylum seeker hotel (we barely have any hotels).

Didyousaysomethingdarling · 28/11/2025 18:43

Completely agree. Thank you.

100% agree!

Buzyizzy217 · 28/11/2025 19:40

Brexit has brought all the racist hatred out from the closets. It’s utterly disgusting and not the UK I know and love. I pray that NF and reform disappear into the oblivion soon.

Linzi2377 · 28/11/2025 19:42

If thousands of white australians started turning up on beaches getting benefits my opinion would still be the same..we are a small island on its arse!

Buzyizzy217 · 28/11/2025 19:43

Does that include ending a sentence with a preposition, a huge grammatical error in the English language. You don’t sound terribly nice either.

FrippEnos · 28/11/2025 19:44

"Overt anti "foreigner" / anti non-white"

I can only assume that you were not taking much notice when the limited amount of immigrant talk was about the eastern Europeans.

Buzyizzy217 · 28/11/2025 19:46

Racists are disgusting towards anyone not English. Even face to face. The abuse our minority ethnicities receive is dreadful.

TheNoonBell · 28/11/2025 15:46

Mass uncontrolled immigration and suppression of the native's discontent was always going to elicit a response.

It's everywhere and quite open now, people who I thought we apolitical are getting very fired up.

It’s not mass uncontrolled immigration. Stop reading the Daily Mail. 🤣

Buzyizzy217 · 28/11/2025 19:50

Happyher · 28/11/2025 16:08

No - I think since Brexit people feel that it’s ok to say how they feel. We opened a Pandora’s box of hate and vitriol

Sadly you are quite correct.

Even wanting to live in a society in which everyone is from the same race as you doesn’t make you a racist (very insular and small-minded, yes, but not racist). A racist dislikes other racial groups and considers them inferior to his own. You can want to live in a racially homogenous society and yet consider other races equal or even superior to your own.

Only idiots. This is some honking bullshit.

Report me, only proves my point!

Buzyizzy217 · 28/11/2025 19:52

HoskinsChoice · 28/11/2025 16:16

I would guess it is considerably less racist but until recently the racists didn't have the public platform via social media and the encouragement via Reform etc al. Openly racist yes, I agree, but it's always been there, it just wasn't plastered over social media.

Social media platform owners make money from clicks and traffic. Consequently they allow discrimination as it provokes arguments which in turn lines their pockets. Racism isn't the only form of discrimination that is creeping increasingly into the public domain. Mumsnet is a perfect example of all sorts of controversial posts being allowed. Why allow them unless it's for money?

National Front was around decades ago, then Britain First, then UKIP, then Brexit Party, now Reform.

The word ‘racist’ is used far too casually these days, as is the phrase ‘right-wing’ (I have seen people who want rapists deported described as ‘right-wing’). Wanting to preserve a sense of identity and feeling uneasy about mass immigration doesn’t make you a racist. In fact, wanting to live in a society in which the majority of people are from the same race as you doesn’t make you racist.

I am white, and pretty much all my ancestors were English, Scottish or Irish, but I certainly do not consider white Europeans superior to other races. Far from it. And I wouldn’t want to live in a purely white Britain either. (If you are very choosy about who you let in, immigration really can enrich a country.) However, I bitterly resent what the left have done. It’s a question of scale. Mass immigration has been used to destroy our national identity and impose a new one on us. No one asked for it and no one voted for it.

Mass migration is the Left's fault?🙄

The recent Mass migration happened under and because of the Tories. Brexit means that many of our immigrants are coming from from outside the EU. So, yes people did vote for it.🤷‍♀️

Indeed. Show them the graph of the increase in arrivals of the "small boats" under the Tories. It'll blow their minds.

Yes, but nobody voted for the BNP et al in significant numbers until the Tories panicked in 2016 and decided to have a referendum to appease the potential UKIP voters.

I was told on a thread yesterday by a migrant they had no sympathy for the English, they seemed to think me asking the English to have some sympathy given to them was an outrageous request by me.

What they probably through was that I am English, I am not.

I was born here, I don't believe in trans race. My parents are Irish. It was made clear to us by the British that we weren't British, so I am jaw dripping shocked anyone else claims to be.

I love the English so much I married in so have half English children.

I believe the English have the right to self determination as I believe the Irish had.

The English protestants didn't have to give the Catholics emancipation, I am grateful.

The English didn't have to end the slave trade.

The English didn't have to fight in WW2, I am with Tucker Carlson on that, as the Irish were neutral and could have been smashed at the time, Germany left them alone.

The Irish suffered the same from the British government as the English are today, migrants given land (social housing), two tier police (RUC/Black and tans), the DEI jobs as the British protestants were in Catholic Ireland.

It's like watching the English be robbed, bullied etc, it's horrible.

I also want to point out, in that video I linked the Irish man admitted the flaws of the Irish, I note who else does or doesn't.

I'm sorry but you can't be for real. Comparing the police force in the UK now to the black and tans? What on earth sort of history books do you have over there at all, maybe you should visit a book shop on your next visit back to the homeland.

I do wonder what these racist, DM reading, Reform supporters are going to think when suddenly 1/2 of Bangladesh becomes uninhabitable due to sea level rise and then 8 million Bangladeshis need a new home. We are already seeing Tehran is massively struggling with the climate crisis. No doubt there’ll be a few 1,000 Iranians coming to join us and some people would love to send them home.

History rhymes, it's not exactly the same.

Black and tans/RUC smashed in doors over ridiculous things.

What I believe you lack is the ability to see similarities and to learn how history can be repeated.
