To have a kettle in the bedroom?

Teaandcakepleasee · 23/11/2025 20:00

I have, as of today, fulfilled my lifelong dream… I have a kettle in my bedroom! It has always been a dream of mine to purchase a teasmaid but they are hard to find and expensive. So I’ve bought a bright pink kettle, Lakeland milk sachets, coffee sachets, tea bags and now all I need is some biscuits 🍪

I am so excited to wake up tomorrow morning 🤣 I am also recently separated and doing whatever I damn well please 🤣 Life has been shite lately so I am seeking out a little joy where I can find it 💕

Have I finally lost the plot or am I a genius?! 🤣

We have a little set up in our room, it’s lovely and makes my mornings so much easier on a work day and much nicer at a weekend! Enjoy yours

My bedroom is on the@ same level as my kitchen otherwise I would be stealing this idea 💡

Enjoy OP 😊

Breadcat24 · 23/11/2025 21:28

Enjoy it
We have a kettle in the bedroon and if i am really lazy I can reach from the warm bed to turn it on with my toe

PoppyWarrior · 23/11/2025 21:30

Omg I thought it was TeasMaid too!

A maid who made tea!

Only on googling do I find I'm incorrect! Who knew???

The things you learn on mumsnet!!

Itsnaptime · 23/11/2025 21:31

I also did this when DC's was little.... I used the excuse it was for making bottles in middle of the night but secretly it was for me and my cuppas 🤣

Wigtopia · 23/11/2025 21:37

I know a couple that have this for a weekend cuppa of tea in bed. They said it makes them feel like theyre in an hotel 😄Enjoy it !

My mother had a neat little set up on redundant hostess trolley of a travel kettle, teabags, cup and saucer and milk in a small thermos. Meant she could start the day quietly, take her medication and get dressed before heading downstairs.

My husband likes to have a short coffee and read the news by himself to start the day. In return, he brings me up a cup of tea and opens the blinds, before heading back down for his second cup. It’s the spaceship taking off whooshing of the steam of his OTT espresso machine that wakes me. We never discussed this arrangement , it just evolved and suits us both.

Bobbysmumma · 23/11/2025 21:40

I also thought it was Teasmaid 🤣 my mum bought me a teasmade (now I know!) for I think my 17th birthday! I bought a mini fridge for the milk! But they were both so loud… they didn’t last long!! I wish I had kept it 🙈

A kettle would be the dream upstairs…….

Someone once told me, never, ever, drink from a bathroom tap

That's from back in the day when the hot water would come from the storage tank in the loft, it was only supposed to be used for washing and not fit for drinking. You weren't supposed to drink from mixer taps either. Most houses water systems are not set up like that anymore, unless you live in the US.

Now you need an Alexa plug so you can just lie in bed and say 'Alexa, kettle on' so you don even have to get out of bed until the kettle has boiled.

We set the kettle up on the weekend, plugged into the smart plug and turned on,the turn the smart plug off. We take it in turns to shout from our bed "Alexa put the kettle on" and then go down and make the tea. Bliss.
When dh is away, I have a one cup kettle, set that up the same, shout at Alexa and go down to tea ALREADY MADE! If I had room up here I'd be doing the same as you.
You can buy instant hot water kettles in Argos, and Teasmades as well, who knew?

Actually Muffsies it is a little different in my case and I have explained my situation above

Oh my gosh! Don’t tempt me 🤣

They can emit an annoying hum, though. Better to use a cool pack or insulated container, which would keep a small quantity of milk fresh until the morning.

SunnySideUp30Plus · 23/11/2025 21:53

Amazing! I know what I want for Christmas now 🩷

Davros · 23/11/2025 21:56

I’ve got a fridge in my bedroom too. Proper milk and lots of cold chocolate. Heaven!

RememberDecember · 23/11/2025 21:58

I would love to have a Nespresso by the bed, would prob just keep some milk in an insulated cup as I can’t bear it black <thinks longingly>. Not going to happen with no bedside tables and DP not on board!

You know what? I cannot personally understand how this would be any better than going downstairs and making a cup of coffee, but what I do like is OP’s complete and utter joy about the fact it gives her pleasure.
To you OP, and to every single person on this site who can take pleasure in a lovely morning or afternoon cup of tea! I truly (and enviously) salute you, you absolutely should enjoy every moment

WhosThePratInThePartyHat · 23/11/2025 22:26

OP, I can hear your joy in your post!

Enjoy your mornings from now on. We do this when we’re both off at Christmas, it’s a little luxury and I love it! ☕️

I used to know a retired woman who made tea in her flask the night before and put it on her bedside table for the morning. It seemed odd to me but she insisted it was still hot enough to drink in bed the next day.

At the moment DH brings me a cup of tea every morning but if that didn't happen I would have a mini fridge and a kettle in the bedroom.

I used to do this when I was breastfeeding. It was definitely drinkable

fruitfly3 · 23/11/2025 22:50

This is the thing of dreams OP. I would genuinely feel like I had made it in life. Tea saves me every day. You might appreciate this mug to go with the set. Enjoy!

This is how DP feels, just get up and make a good cuppa! But there is something delicious about not having to get up from a morning slumber and gently ease into the day with a coffee, for me at least. I love taking a coffee back to bed on a weekend morning and reading the paper in bed.

Whennovemberends · 23/11/2025 23:06

Why have I never thought of this. Ultimate goal now.

I don’t need to get out of bed to make my coffee, I just lean over and push a button. Nice and cosy, and I don’t disturb anyone else in the house by tramping about at ungodly hours . 👍 On my second cup of coffee now ☕️

Cold chocolate and hot tea. Yummy

Devilsmommy · 24/11/2025 05:56

Get a hot water dispenser. No waiting for the kettle to boil that way😁

Don’t you have a kitchen? Like a full house, with stairs where you can go back to bed?

Killjoy. Let the woman enjoy her genius glow.
