To have a kettle in the bedroom?

Teaandcakepleasee · 23/11/2025 20:00

I have, as of today, fulfilled my lifelong dream… I have a kettle in my bedroom! It has always been a dream of mine to purchase a teasmaid but they are hard to find and expensive. So I’ve bought a bright pink kettle, Lakeland milk sachets, coffee sachets, tea bags and now all I need is some biscuits 🍪

I am so excited to wake up tomorrow morning 🤣 I am also recently separated and doing whatever I damn well please 🤣 Life has been shite lately so I am seeking out a little joy where I can find it 💕

Have I finally lost the plot or am I a genius?! 🤣

Who are the 8% who say this is unreasonable? Show yourselves! Explain yourselves! The OP is indeed a genius. 👏

I used to love my teasmaid but the milk was always a problem. I can happily drink black tea but, first thing, I like a proper brew.

My current set up - minus the biscuits 🍪

I'd get a butler in the buff to bring me my morning tea and ahem, the extras.

Sod all that DIY milk, water, kettle, teabag, cup/mug, biscuit business. 😊

If she called it a ‘hot chocolate and teasmaid station’ they’d be loving it.

I’ve had them before and they are not too bad. Any recommendations of decent long life milk?

We just leave fresh milk in the cups overnight, boil the bedside kettle and throw the teabags in the cups before adding the water. It tastes fine. I would never dream of making tea like this at any other time of day.

I would just keep filtered milk in the fridge and bring up a little jug every night.

You could keep G&T in a mini fridge for a night cap 😉

whimbrelcalling · 23/11/2025 20:28

I have this, with two mugs on a matching tray. I have a mini fridge and mini bottle of milk. The only one not happy with it is the cat, as it delays my going downstairs to give her her breakfast!

Don’t you have a kitchen? Like a full house, with stairs where you can go back to bed?

My late mother had a tray in her bedroom on which there was a kettle, hot chocolate, sweetener and powdered milk, from the day she retired (56) - and cream crackers in case she felt a little peckish

That sounds like heaven!

Of course but I’m lazy and planning on fulfilling my lifelong dream of almost instant tea upon waking 🫖

Teasmaids were perfect in the days before central heating when you could have a little jug of milk (with a beaded lace cover!) beside your bed all night and it wouldn’t go off.

I couldn’t be doing with little UHT pots, I’d be investing in a beer fridge. Now that might raise some eyebrows!

This is what we have - Drinkpod

Hdbnfnbrjebfb · 23/11/2025 20:36

If you have a Costco card they sell boxes of 2 pack biscuits for £14. Ideal in the imaginary world where I stop after two biscuits!

I am also on the precipice of adding a kettle to our bedroom. I only drink black coffee so it will be straightforward I just need to find a spot that will be fine with the kettle steam.

To the PP who questioned why not just go downstairs then come back up, once I’m downstairs I’d never bother to go back upstairs so unless my husband brings me one I’m either coffee-less or ‘up’ up.

notnorman · 23/11/2025 20:37

I’ve got a tassimo in my bedroom. Need biscuits now!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/11/2025 20:38

I love this 😄😄

Life is for living girl! You deserve to be comfortable! ❤️

UtterlyOtterly · 23/11/2025 20:39

I used to know a retired woman who made tea in her flask the night before and put it on her bedside table for the morning. It seemed odd to me but she insisted it was still hot enough to drink in bed the next day.

At the moment DH brings me a cup of tea every morning but if that didn't happen I would have a mini fridge and a kettle in the bedroom.

sanityisamyth · 23/11/2025 20:40

I don’t even have a kettle in the kitchen! Moved into a “furnished” flat (which seems to lack any furniture). Haven’t needed a kettle for nearly a month so probably not going to buy one!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/11/2025 20:40

I have had a travel kettle in mine for years. Black coffee so no milk issues for me. A cuppa in bed first thing is a joy 😊

WhenIwasayoungster · 23/11/2025 20:42

I've never been one for needing to drink or eat anything when I wake up. I'd rather just get washed and dressed and go.

But OP if that has been your dream to have a hotel style bedroom environment with tea and coffee immediately available when you wake, good for you in achieving it. 😊
