To have a kettle in the bedroom?

Teaandcakepleasee · 23/11/2025 20:00

I have, as of today, fulfilled my lifelong dream… I have a kettle in my bedroom! It has always been a dream of mine to purchase a teasmaid but they are hard to find and expensive. So I’ve bought a bright pink kettle, Lakeland milk sachets, coffee sachets, tea bags and now all I need is some biscuits 🍪

I am so excited to wake up tomorrow morning 🤣 I am also recently separated and doing whatever I damn well please 🤣 Life has been shite lately so I am seeking out a little joy where I can find it 💕

Have I finally lost the plot or am I a genius?! 🤣

I must be out of it. I've never heard of teamaid and I can't imagine anyone who lives in a house or apartment wanting to have a kettle in their bedroom...
Unless they lived in a dormitory, like with a bunch of housemates (and they didn't want to go out to the kitchen in the morning in just their slippers and bathrobe type thing)...

But hey, you do you!
I mean I can think of two really good reasons why you could have a kettle in your bedroom. Number one, hot water bottle whenever you fancy it, you don't even have to leave the bedroom. I love hot water bottles...
And number two, if you had a cold or if it was quite dry, you could boil the cattle to put a little moisture in the air if you don't have a humidifier.

But like I said I must be completely out of it cuz I have never heard of anyone having a kettle or tea set or coffee maker or anything like that in their bedroom before but, perhaps I just live a sheltered life.

What an absolutely brilliant idea!! An idea I’m definitely copying!
As you can tell from my name I don’t do coffee, but a cup of tea fresh every morning sounds perfect!

JustSawJohnny · 23/11/2025 21:02

All of our old kettles go straight to the bedroom for hot water bottles.

Makes life that little bit easier.

I have had a travel kettle in mine for years. Black coffee so no milk issues for me. A cuppa in bed first thing is a joy 😊

If our travel kettle had collected air miles it would go to the moon and back! I recall a tour of, I think, India, after we'd all gone up to bed we sat out on our balcony with a cup of tea and some ginger nuts to dunk, the envious looks we got!

Someone once told me, never, ever, drink from a bathroom tap

That’s only if your house does not pull from the mains but a tank, very very few houses have that anymore. My house is 400 years old and does not have it and I fill my water bottle from the bathroom tap regularly if I want to do it upstairs,

Thesquaregiraffe · 23/11/2025 21:03

I’m now thinking (researching)…. Coffee machine and mini fridge - oh my gosh this sounds like heaven!!

absolutely 100% enjoy this!!!

I thought you'd lost the plot until you said this bit - "I am also recently separated and doing whatever I damn well please 🤣". Good for you. Enjoy!

Ha ha thanks 😆 Have I replaced my husband with a kettle?? Maybe…

My current set up - minus the biscuits 🍪

Please tell me where you got the ghosts from!

Why would it be a faff getting water? She can fill the kettle from the bathroom tap.

I’ll be filling it from my en-suite 🫖

As soon as I read the topic I thought Teasmaid :) I'm forever going down into kitchen and bringing a cuppa up but I like the thought of it (kettle in room). Will it not be faff getting the water up there though and restocking of biscuits?

Don't you have a sink in your bathroom? It's the Same water.

You are most likely right, its those old sayings and beliefs that stick in your mind. But also in my case, Giuseppe (my old plumber, dead now but a bloody good tradesmen) accidently used lead pipes instead of copper so I was recalling his words rather then telling her not to use

I don’t keep my Fairy Liquid in the bathroom strangely enough….

She could buy a second bottle of washing up liquid ……..

Do you have another small bowl for the tea bags and milk sachets debris in your setup, OP?

Nope, but I need one!

Haha just go downstairs….

I think it would take more discipline to carry the dirty cup etc downstairs to wash. I carry enough downstairs each day already as it is.

You need a wash basket on a rope that goes down the stairs full of laundry and crockery that you reel out with gentle sturdiness from the upstairs landing, possibly with a toy kitten perched on top as lookout for when it hits the deck.

Old age isn’t all bad.

Elliemayclampett · 23/11/2025 21:15

I have a hot water dispenser, teabags, coffee, sugar sachets and milk sticks in my bedroom.. all plugged into Alexa. It’s the best thing ever .. I say ‘Alexa, tea on’ and away she goes. I’d urge anyone to try it - game changer.

PegDope · 23/11/2025 21:16

Surely it’s Teasmade? Not Teasmaid??

In any case OP it sounds blissful. Not having to schlep all the way to the kitchen for a morning cuppa? I’m sold.

Canonlythinkofthisone · 23/11/2025 21:16

Ahhh enjoy. A few years ago I did a stint in some shared work accommodation before DC was on the scene. I couldn't bare going out and making a coffee in the morning so I got myself a kettle and some border biscuits and even some uht milk cartons. Woke up every morning feeling like I was in a hotel, it was ace 🤣
