To have a kettle in the bedroom?

Teaandcakepleasee · 23/11/2025 20:00

I have, as of today, fulfilled my lifelong dream… I have a kettle in my bedroom! It has always been a dream of mine to purchase a teasmaid but they are hard to find and expensive. So I’ve bought a bright pink kettle, Lakeland milk sachets, coffee sachets, tea bags and now all I need is some biscuits 🍪

I am so excited to wake up tomorrow morning 🤣 I am also recently separated and doing whatever I damn well please 🤣 Life has been shite lately so I am seeking out a little joy where I can find it 💕

Have I finally lost the plot or am I a genius?! 🤣

Teasmaid are in the sale on Amazon

worstthreewords · 24/11/2025 06:05

My mum always used a teasmaid. She never used long life, she would just take a tiny jug of fresh milk up to bed in the evening and it would be fine in the morning. She did this for fifty years.

babyproblems · 24/11/2025 06:11

my parents still have a teasmaid (it’s now ancient) and my dad keeps spare parts and second hand teasmaids in the garage incase it breaks. They won’t give it up!!!! xo

TutTutTutSigh · 24/11/2025 06:24

I am not quite there OP, but my kettle has an app and is set to boil when I wake up each morning, no more standing in the cold kitchen. My car also pre heats itself 10 minutes before I leave for work.

hellywelly3 · 24/11/2025 06:25

Not read all the comments but take some fresh milk up when you go to bed in a thermos flask

Chocja · 24/11/2025 06:46

We started doing this when we got a dog. Having a cuppa in bed before the dog wakes up and gets all bouncy and excited is very much needed.

We take things downstairs to wash up and bring fresh milk up in a jug along with the washed mugs the night before.

This is what we have - Drinkpod

This would go perfectly with the colour scheme.

I don’t drink tea, but do have a Nespresso coffee ☕️ machine next to the bed.

I have a Tassimo in my bedroom, perfect!

GrannyTeapot · 24/11/2025 07:15

@Teaandcakepleasee I have a kettle too!! And it makes me happy every morning. Enjoy!!

I have used sachets and used a spoon of dried milk powder from a tub, but what I’ve progressed to is some milk from the fridge in a small thermos to keep it cool overnight.

IsntItDarkOut · 24/11/2025 07:52

If you buy a lunch bag that’s insulated and stick a freezer block in it, that will keep your milk nice and cold

ruethewhirl · 24/11/2025 08:18

I don't drink tea or coffee but I've thought of doing this so I can make myself a hot chocolate in the morning. Anything that makes mornings more bearable is a good thing in my book!

Ohpleeeease · 24/11/2025 08:31

Just a teeny point folks, it’s Teasmade, not Teasmaid. I’m sure the pun was intentional but the former sounds a lot more cheery don’t you think?

They are UHT. I'd rather take a little jug of fresh milk up, it'll keep overnight if the bedroom is cool.

Or a small thermos flask.

researchers3 · 24/11/2025 08:41

I reckon at this time of year you could keep a tiny bit of milk on your windowsill and it would still be ok in the morning.

This is my dream!!!

Kbroughton · 24/11/2025 11:12

awwww congratulations! I still remember the feeling of moving into my first home after separation and buying 12 scatter cushions because I could! Hurray for you

Cucy · 24/11/2025 11:34

I do this in the winter!

I get up at 4:30 for work and I hate waking up!

I pre-do the coffee and sugar in a mug and as soon as my alarm goes off I flick the switch.

I have a reusable bottle that I put a bit of milk in the night before and put it in the window sil.

I drink my coffee and check my home emails.

It starts my day off so nicely and I’m usually desperate for a wee after I’ve drank it so another reason for me to get up.

MarmiteyCrumpets · 24/11/2025 11:37

Living the dream, OP! ☕️

soupyspoon · 24/11/2025 11:39

Well done OP but like others I wouldnt lower myself with the UHT milk, you need fresh milk, full fat wont go off, either put it in an insulated mug or put a frozen ice pack under it and it will keep it coolish overnight

LittlePotteryBird · 24/11/2025 13:53

Don’t like to brag but here’s my sweet little set up. I love it but after reading this thread I now desperately need a hot water dispenser even though 24 hours ago I was oblivious to their existence.

To have a kettle in the bedroom?
Squirrel60 · 24/11/2025 14:11

I have one in our bedroom, complete with mug, PG Tips, saccharin and long-life milk because we get 8-legged things in the kitchen, seldom in the bedroom, so when I see one in there and I'm making a cuppa, even late night/early hours, I scarper to the bedroom for a cuppa!

LoveWine123 · 24/11/2025 14:57

This thread has given me such cosy vibes, thank you everyone. And whoever shared the cute pink mini fridge - THANK YOU!

socks1107 · 24/11/2025 18:32

Re milk we used to use a flask with fresh milk in it, now I use powdered milk and don’t notice any difference tbh

elastamum · 24/11/2025 19:02

We have a one cup kettle and a little flask for the milk. I can make us tea without even getting out of bed. I also have a banana with my tea on days when I need to turn out my horses before breakfast.

Oh my gosh! Don’t tempt me 🤣

My mum had this set up in the 90s. A kettle and mini fridge.
