Knickers under pyjamas yay or nay

Discussion with friends. Very heated disagreement. Unreasonable wearing knickers . Reasonable not wearing knickers

We are a very naked family, so not currently an issue for us. We'll often all be naked in bathroom or wandering from bathroom to bed room. I guess when DS (9) starts to be concerned about such things he may no longer just barge in the room or get in bed with us, but currently he happily wanders in whilst I'm in the shower or bath and comes for hugs whilst I'm naked.

I’ll wear knickers before I go to bed and I’m the morning but once I’m actually in bed I won’t unless I’m on my period.

I feel like my body needs to breathe.

My parents were a naked family and I still have flashbacks. I won’t traumatise my kids with the sight of my bare arse/boobs unnecessarily

I don’t always wear knickers during the day!

Up to about 8 it didn't bother me, after that it did.

Caveat that mine are now teens, which makes a difference, but I still keep an open door policy and they do still both wander in and out freely, and come get a cuddle if they've had a bad night, or feel ill, or just want to show me some dumb meme at 1am (im usually still awake til 2am)

I am in my 50s and only recently learned someone doesn’t wear knickers in bed!!! I leats wore them and never in my life suffered from any form of infections or other down there, and neither my partner and family, who do the same. Maybe it’s cultural as we are not British? Even if I could I don’t think I would as it means changing my pijamas daily and I don’t have enough time to do all that laundry (but I change my knickers twice a day).

How? Assuming your bum isn't dirty enough to grub through a layer of material onto your bed or sofa or whatever? Plus, you're more likely to get thrush if you don't air your bits out, which is sort of a hygiene issue in itself, no?

Knickers, always. Never had thrush, never had a UTI.

Knickers under pjs and I have a shower every day. Cannot be bothered washing pjs every day. Definitely don't want to put on crusty pjs every night.

No knickers in bed, whatever else you might be wearing (or not).

I’m 40 and always wore knickers. If it is to happen after so long, I wouldn’t blame wearing knickers.

In Summer I would remove my bra at the traffic lights as I drove home from school! Hate how it is so sweaty.

I sleep naked but wear pjs when pottering about downstairs in the evening. Don't like anything on in bed. No knickers under the pjs.
My grandchildren arrive at 7.15 every Monday and they are usually in their pjs. One is in a nappy the other wears pants under his pjs. I think he must sleep in the pants at home too . When they sleepover at my house I have never put pants on under the pjs. Never occurred to me until I read this thread.Didnt wear pants under pjs when my brothers and I were children.

Yep - my mum said this too. No knickers in bed.

Things go downhill at an ever increasing rate! I never had a UTI until I was 66 but you may well be lucky. Lots of people are. Really, I just find it more comfortable not wearing knickers in bed but I know other people prefer to do so.

I've never had thrush, at least I don't think so (not super aware of the symptoms) but I'd just rather wear pants and change them daily than have to change PJs daily. I mean isn't that why they invented underwear? otherwise why wear any EVER?

Fair enough. DH and I both came from naked families and didn't care.
