Knickers under pyjamas yay or nay

Discussion with friends. Very heated disagreement. Unreasonable wearing knickers . Reasonable not wearing knickers

My parents were nudists. I did not enjoy seeing them naked.

I used to sleep in the buff mostly, knickers when needed. After kids, knickers and vest (tbf leaking boobs trained me to wear a top just so I could use boob pads as I soaked through the duvet when my milk came in). I can't bear wearing long sleeves and long pants in bed.

I do have PJs but only if I'm staying somewhere, have guests over or maybe if I'm ill and need something low effort to wear downstairs. I can only just tolerate short sleaved pjs with shorts in bed, I don't think I could sleep in anything long sleeved and would have to strip eventually down to my underwear to sleep, no matter how cold.

Knickers as it’s uncomfortable otherwise

I'm 60 ,post menopausal and have lichen sclerosis ( very uncomfortable/ often painful auto-immune condition of the genital area). Couldn't bear to wear anything over that area at night.

I read that too quickly and thought it was a ‘top hat’! 🎩

So does that mean you also change your underwear every 3 days as well then? Grim.

Where’s the air coming from with pjs on and under a duvet?

Team knickers for general hygiene reasons, and who has the time to wash their PJs every day!

Not a very pc term but this is definitely an old wives tale.

It blows my mind that all those who are pro knickers don’t understand how bacteria and fungi proliferate in warmth and humidity.

Yes of course otherwise you have to change them everyday. The "airing" reason doesn't make sense really as you're still completely covered.

Just spread it on your pjs instead?

Ooooooh, iswym. I do change my pjs daily tbf - love getting into a nice, fresh pair. Just got into one actually!

I thought knickers were also partly a comfort thing - obviously pjs are cosy and soft, but wouldn't want denim or corduroy, or God forbid ZIPS with free reign down there 😬 Maybe that's just me though.

Not British and never heard of the need to air out your vagina. Through pjs and a duvet 🤣 There seems to be a thrush epidemic in Britain…

Wear a nightie and no knickers unless menstrating.

Why?

My next door neighbours were burgled.

So, understandably, they were both pretty on edge about the situation.
Then, they were burgled a second time at night, when they were asleep.
The burglar woke up Peter*, who came charging out of his house after him. Which woke up my husband, who went charging into their house, as there were 2 men, apparently.

My husband called out to Jane*, who was hysterical (who wouldn’t be??) and she was completely naked, bless her.

My husband’s adrenaline just completely disappeared, cos he was so embarrassed. He couldn’t get away quick enough after that.
She was so distraught, it was obviously the last thing on her mind.

I'm 66 and it's almost summer here. I rarely get hot and sweaty in bed and haven't slept naked since my 30s and then only for a very short while. Nightie and knickers in summer, long sleeve top, leggings, and knickers in winter. I suspect some of you overheat your bedrooms!

This is why there are things you shouldn't discuss with your friends, unless you want to find out that they're actually gross.

It’s not air flow…it’s space. When you wear loose pjs there’s a big free space around your bits with nothing touching. When you wear knickers there’s cotton pressed up against. Meaning poor foof gets suffocated, I mean how must she feel with a gusset pressed against her all night long? Just no!

Perhaps the knickers on brigade don’t suffer from it… I’ve never had a bacterial or fungal fanny problem in my life. In fact, until I read this thread I didn’t realise how common it was!

Always knickers. Big big knickers right up to my armpits🤣 I feel the cold.
