Good grief! Apart from people with medical conditions who has traces of urine/ fecal matter / oozememts in their bed! I have never had this unless suffering from an illness in which case yes prepare for it.

If you sleep naked, then you do! Put the sheets of naked sleepers under a microscope...they'll be CRAWLING! There are poo particles in every fart. And everyone drips a bit, whether urine or discharge or pre-cum. Men especially, since they just shake off after having a wee. Knickers/pants catch all this "stuff" - why do you think we wear them! They don't do much for warmth - and we wear them in the summer, too!

Possibly, but more likely drool and hair grease.

SoftBalletShoes · 24/11/2025 16:29

@FastTurtle Noses don't drip or have germs the way our undercarriages do - unless you have a cold. We don't have to wear nose-knickers as a matter of course, do we??

Hopefully all the PJ/knicker wearers are also washing their pillow cases every day too.

According to AI a pillowcase can have 17000 more bacteria than a toilet seat after a week of use.

Not every day, because you can just turn it over! 🤣

Ewww!

So what state must the sheets of naked sleepers be in?

Oh, how ridiculous! Of course it wasn't thought to be a wc habit!

It really was.

QuinionsRainbow · 24/11/2025 16:47

I come from a long line of "no knickers" advocates, stretching back to my grandmother, or even before her. So, no knickers under PJs until age 10, which caused a certain amount of eyebrow-raising at Brownie camp, then no knickers or PJs/nighties at all for the past 50 years, ditto at Guides, although the issue here was getting us to keep our vests/bras and knickers on in the general absence of more substantial night attire. DH says that from his earliest childhood recollection, wearing knickers/pants to bed was only acceptable if that was all that was worn, and by the time that he had reached double figures birthday suits had ousted all other forms of nightwear throughout the household.

Where did you hear that? And the aristos in those huge houses presumably had to wear a lot of clothes before central heating, especially to bed.

GagMeWithASpoon · 24/11/2025 18:15

Interestingly(because I have nothing better to do), the main difference seems to be age. More younger women tend to wear knickers under their pyjamas than older women.

OneDaringGreenBiscuit · 24/11/2025 18:42

And so how do we cope when we find out that kitchen worktops generally have more germs than a toilet seat!

Plus how do we get in and out of without touching door handles or drive without the steering wheel or gear stick.

🙄Why are you so frightened of your own bodily fluids?

im not frightened of my own bodily fluids, but pyjamas in direct contact with my fanny and bum are going to smell of fanny and bum, so i will wash them.
I dont think im a particularly smelly person, and I shower daily and keep my bits clean, but knickerless pyjama bottoms do not usually pass the sniff test the next night, and I dont believe anyones do. I think they probably just dont check or dont care.

ImthatBoleyngirl · 24/11/2025 19:21

I hate the feeling of no knickers so I always wear them

Is it much different than the handrail on the bus, the supermarket trolley, petrol pumps, cash or numerous other things we have contact with in life?

Why wouldn't you put pants on under your pj's. Do people go naked in their pj's. Yuk. Do they not wear pants in their day clothes too .. strange. Made up mn thing surely. Everyone wears pants

‘Made up MN thing’. This has really tickled me, so funny! There’s a lot of us in on this conspiracy.

I am curious as to if you do wear knickers do you wear the ones you have been wearing all day, or do you wear two pairs of knickers a day.

The same ones. Why would I need to change them when I'm just going to bed and will shower and change when I get up?

Also I don't own that many pants that I can go through 2 pairs a day everyday! Unless I want to be washing clothes every other day (which is probably the norm on here tbh)

Lovefoodme · 24/11/2025 23:32

I didn't know people wore the same pyjamas more than once lol but defo team no knicks, unless its that time of the month.

Simplelifeneeded · 24/11/2025 23:36

Doggielovecharlotte · 22/11/2025 20:44

My mum always taught me to “give it some air” so no knickers for me!

Same except it was my grandma and not my mum. No knickers in bed.
I told my own kids the same.

How many pairs of pyjamas do you have? I can't afford to buy 2 or 3 pairs just so I can change them everyday or be constantly washing them.

Autumvibes · 24/11/2025 23:41

Based on the advice here I better go find my cats some pants because their butts are always on my bed at night.

I have quite a few pairs tbh fluffy ones for chilling in before bed and shorts and vest tops sets for sleeping in. I do wear the fluffy ones twice (unless i get baby sick on me!) and wear knickers in them though. I love pj's so its literally the only thing I get for gifts I rarely buy them myself.

Ladamesansmerci · 24/11/2025 23:50

I think it actually reduces the risk of infection to not wear them?

I'm defo team no knickers regardless. It is uncomfortable! To me it would be like sleeping with a bra on or something.
