Discussion with friends. Very heated disagreement. Unreasonable wearing knickers . Reasonable not wearing knickers

Nightdresses and nightshirts are awful though. Don't you get all tangled up? Maybe I kebab a lot, but I just can't wear anything in bed as it is too restrictive and gets tangled. So just nickers for me, and nothing else. Never had thrush in 60 years.

So does that mean you also change your underwear every 3 days as well then? Grim.

Obviously not, I’ll tell you what is grim though - you coming onto the internet just to be a cow to people you don’t know.

Easy tiger just a simple question. You didn't have to answer if it made you feel so uncomfortable 🤣

Nothing is obvious on this thread, apparently 🤣

You (one) should change underwear every day and wear knickers to bed. If you don't wear knickers to bed, you foof on the loose in your PJs bums - surely you change your PJ bums every day. You know, hygiene n all that. Otherwise - grim.

Don't get your no-knicks in a twist.

Team knickers for general hygiene reasons, and who has the time to wash their PJs every day!

OK, enlighten us - what are these 'general hygiene reasons' of which you so prescriptively speak?

I'm going to guess she means vaginal discharge... Without knickers doesn't it end up all over you PJ bottoms and your thighs? Or is everyone else like a desert down there?

Yes, she obviously does, and speaking personally my answer is neither of the above. Somewhere in between. A bit, but not much.

I've never had that much discharge that it pours down my thighs

Sartre · 23/11/2025 14:18

Always wear pants in bed but growing up my mum insisted I didn’t, she thought it caused infections…

I didn’t feel uncomfortable answering the question - hence why I did so. I hope you can get some therapy for your low self-esteem.

Tink3rbell30 · 23/11/2025 14:34

Wait, people are team no knickers and not changing PJ's everyday? That is gross. Got to be the same ones who don't wash their hands after a wee because they "don't touch their bits" when wiping.

PeonyBulb · 23/11/2025 14:42

I didn’t do my kegels over the years so definitely cotton knickers for me

BestZebbie · 23/11/2025 14:55

I assume that the variation in nightwear (including how many layers it is!) and bathing habits is directly responsible for the variation in how often people think is reasonable to change their bedsheets - if you are freshly washed and in knickers and PJs then you are getting a lot less "dirt" of various kinds onto your bedding overnight than if you just take off your day clothes and get into bed nude!

Well, you're wrong in at least one instance, because I always wash mine. Suspect most people do, tbh.

Boomer55 · 23/11/2025 16:09

No. Why? 🤷‍♀️. Assuming night clothes are washed daily, there no need.

NotDarkGothicMama · 23/11/2025 16:13

Knickers the first night, no knickers the second night, then change pyjamas. I prefer the no knickers nights though!

I'm on about the ones that have commented and admitted that they don't and wear them several nights in a row with no knickers on 🤢

oh give it a rest with the sick face.

it isn't gross, or unclean, not when you're showering daily. unless you've hoisted them up til they're splitting the difference, then the few hours you have them on overnight, while lying down then you're not even getting them vaguely dirty, and 3 nights in the same pjs isn't a hygiene issue.

Just because it isn't something you would do, doesn't mean it requires the sick/vom face like a juvenile child going 'ew, you're gross'

grow up.

Why are some people so frightened of wearing knickers?

Tink3rbell30 · 23/11/2025 16:37

It is gross not to change pyjamas daily if knickers aren't being worn.. in the same way that it's gross not to change knickers daily. Basic hygiene.

GagMeWithASpoon · 23/11/2025 16:36

i don't wear them because i was raised in a 'no knickers at night' family, and the only time i've had to wear them is time of the month, and they're fucking uncomfortable and itchy, and upset/irritate my skin wearing them 24/7.

I didn't know that choosing to do something for my health and comfort qualified as 'scared'

What are the consequences if it isn't done, then? People who bath/shower daily aren't going to smell just because they wear the same PJs for a night or two without knickers underneath, and they're not going to catch anything either.

what are you doing with your pjs overnight that you're wearing them like knickers? do you have them hiked up to your armpits with the seam stuffed up your bits like a thong?

last i checked the crotch of mine are nowhere near my bits.

I don’t move much when sleeping. I notice when DH is away that his side of the bed remains perfect. My nightshirt is above the knee so not much to get tangled in!
