Husband wants to move to dubai

1000 replies

Dilemma87 · 09/11/2025 20:37

My husband is a businessman in property and with the recent proposed tax changes and new rules putting limits on how long he can keep doing things from the UK, he’s now saying he needs to move to Dubai and operate from there.

We actually have some friends there, and his business partner is already based out there, so on paper it all sounds easy enough. His plan is to buy a second property in Dubai and move there by himself, while I stay here with the kids.

The problem is, the children are really settled one’s in high school and the other is due to start soon, so moving them just isn’t an option. He’s suggested that we (me and the kids) fly out to Dubai every school holiday to spend time with him.

The catch is, under his visa he can only be out of Dubai for 90 days a year, so he’d basically have to live there full-time.

AIBU to think this is just not going to work long-term? I can’t help but feel like this is the start of living completely separate lives.

Presumably the properties he owns are in the UK. His kids go to school in the UK. His kids have vaccines & medical treatment in the NHS. But he would rather leave his wife & children than pay his share in taxes on the profits he makes in the UK. Nice.

I’m sorry OP, but your DH clearly cares more about making a few extra pounds than he does about you or your children. I would be very unhappy with this plan.

And maybe you won’t want to go to his apartment in Dubai for every school holiday.

404 error.

I think the non marital sex law got changed years ago.

Why was Marcus Fakana jailed last year for it then?

Factually incorrect. While unmarried couples can have sex (except gay couples of course), minors and people who have adulterous sex can still be charged. Fakana was charged because he was 18 and the 17 year old girl's guardian complained, though there was never any question of the sex being non-consensual.

You can still be jailed for drinking alcohol in public or not dressing sufficiently 'modestly'.

Under age. He was 18. She was 17. The age of consent in uae is 18

But all the kids getting killed, blown to bits and starved to death?

Do you understand that Hamas deliberately situates their military near civilian places to cause just that result? I'm not sure myself what Israel should do, but it's an incredibly difficult situation.

Our Allied bombing of Germany killed huge numbers of civilians. Should we have not bombed it? It might have cost us the war. What about the atom bombs on Japan? They killed many civilians horribly but potentially saved many more lives (remember all Japanese had been told to fight to death or commit suicide, including children).

War never provides easy moral answers.

You seriously think that the UK never sponsored a war or genocide?

UK sometimes participated directly.
you want a list?
How about Mau Mau uprising in Kenya?

A list, yes, please.

The Mau Mau uprising was horrendous. But what other genocides do you believe the UK has committed?

War is obviously not equivalent to genocide. What unjust wars do you believe the UK has sponsored?

You can't drink alcohol in public in the USA as well. No open containers on the street.

The modesty stuff is fine. You can dress Westerly, there's no hijab and burqa enforced you just gotta be a bit respectful

Because, evidence. Well done . Didn’t take you ( your algorithm) very long.

What evidence do you believe proves that Israel is committing genocide?

My algorithm? I've examined sources from all sides, and do not believe genocide is what is going on. Have you ever examined sources from all sides?

I think he should pay his fucking taxes in the UK. Especially if his family will be here anyway.
People bailing out because they may have to contribute a bit more are supremely selfish. And any man who would move to Dubai gives not one single fuck about women.

Heaps more to this story. You wouldn't go to Dubai without your family for tax, because you will have to support your children and wife.

I mean he should have followed the law. The age of consent is 18. Yes it's harsh from our view, but it's their law and country.

I would not go to the middle east and engaged in sexual activity outside of marriage. Very risky.

Why? Lots of unmarried couples go to hotels

He is dead now.
Died in a car crash in London just a few months after being released from prison over there.

I think it's Islamic hatred for Jews and they kick them out from all the Muslim countries so they go to Israel, which has been said in the Quran that it belongs to Jews.

All Israeli wants is to be left alone and not have all countries with missiles facing them. However Hamas committed mass genocide in one day and now has ran out of steam.

Ponderingwindow · 10/11/2025 00:47

I would tell my husband that I am not stepping foot in a country that still has guardianship laws for women, even if those laws have been relaxed. I wouldn’t even risk a connecting flight.

It doesn't have them at all for non Muslim women married to non Muslim men.

For the Muslim women I believe it's still there but it's also derived from their faith

And yet so many on here are shitting a brick because high tax payers are leaving.

Only in your imagination.

Carla786 · 10/11/2025 00:22

You believe Israel is carrying out genocide in Palestine? Why do you believe that?

Because, evidence. Israel could quell any questions overnight by allowing journalists into Gaza. Google just now tells me it still hadnt.

shuggles · 10/11/2025 00:58

WildLimePoet · 10/11/2025 00:02

You understand tax but don’t understand the detriment of high earners leaving because of high tax?

Is math not your forte.

First of all, if high earners leave, then other people will simply step up to fill their positions. It's the generation of wealth that's important to the economy, rather than people who pay a lot of tax through their salary.

Second, even if tax receipts did decline, then we will simply manage as we have always done.

You are kidding yourself if you think you're so important that we can't get by without your presence.

Remember that time the women on the plane were forced to have an internal examination, you know pants down, legs open, fingers in vagina because someone had a baby...... That was in an airport.
