Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

I hope your business partner managed to get hold of the part eventually and you can get the machine fixed tomorrow.

Sometimes if the van has broken down they send another one to take over. Or as PP have said, the tracking can be unreliable.

ForPearlViper · 06/11/2025 22:24

Be very, very certain before you judge. The accuracy of the tracking can be very variable and dependent on performance of signals in your area. I recently followed a package where the tracking suggested that the van had on three occasions within half a hour been in my back garden which has no bordering roads. The driver told me tracking was rubbish in my area.

Plot twist... her Amazon order was a breathalyser.

After I got redundancy, in between getting the house sorted and getting a new job I had 9 months off and did buy a breathalyser from Amazon. I was obsessed with it trying all the different permutations

food before and during made a massive difference in your reading the next morning

Pub doesn’t sell food. It’s a tiny drinkers pub. Much more convenient places to stop.

You can't prove he's having alcohol. Get a grip.

ForTipsyFinch · 06/11/2025 22:30

Oh for gods sake . No wonder mumsnet is laughed at.

Zucker · 06/11/2025 22:30

The pressure the drivers are under already without this obsessive tracker watching. This is ridiculous, I hope you got your package you don't actually need until tomorrow morning.

Wow! Thanks for the feedback! Driver is still at the pub. It’s now been 1hr and 29 minutes since we first looked at the tracking.
I take drink driving extremely seriously and any member of staff here would be in trouble if they were caught at the pub on a break. Incidentally we are now 2hrs outside the delivery window which ended at 6:15.

Well complain it’s late

you don’t know they have been drinking

maybe flat tire or broken down

Agapornis · 06/11/2025 22:35

Why not contact Amazon via the chat? They can contact the driver.

jinn2025 · 06/11/2025 22:40

There’s always a another side to the story. What if he’s parked up on the first car park he’s seen, on his lunch break, might have kids at home that have been unsettled in the night and he might just be having a quick 40winks?
Why do some people always think the worst of people

blubberyboo · 06/11/2025 22:40

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 21:01

Why? Because I don’t think it’s ok for people to drive whilst under the influence? I have lost close family members at the hands of a van driver under the influence. So yes I do take it seriously!
If he had broken down they would have cancelled the delivery by now. It’s over 2 and a half hours late. I am leaving to go home now. My business partner is going to handle it.

You have fuck all evidence that he is drinking alcohol or even in the pub.

Drivers take rest breaks, toilet breaks, food breaks and exercise breaks

jinn2025 · 06/11/2025 22:41

Also has his van broke down? Flat tire?

Get help then, because you can’t assume that the delivery driver is getting pissed in a pub because you’ve had a bad experience.

Sasha07 · 06/11/2025 22:45

Sometimes the tracking isn't precise, ime. Sometimes it says I'm The Next Stop, but the van is a few roads away. Which catches me by surprise as he's knocking on my door, yet the tracking hasn't moved to say he's outside. They could be somewhere near to the pub but the tracking isn't being accurate. If it was that close to me though, so long as you take ID, as far as I'm aware you can approach them to pick it up.

If you’re that bothered and he’s shown up under the influence before, why have you never reported it to the police or Amazon before? Oh yeah, coz you’re talking a load of utter shite.

Where did I say he has shown up under the influence before? Comprehension clearly isn’t your strong suit!

Did you get your parcel?

I never said they couldn’t take breaks, but I am not convinced a pub in the middle of nowhere is an appropriate place for anyone in the middle of a shift - least of all a driver to take one.

It has drinks (and even a boozer pub sells non-alcoholic drinks), and the most important thing for a delivery driver... a toilet.
He might have been sat in his car in the car park having a sandwich.

They are allowed breaks, and you do not get to dictate where they take them.

I simply asked a question as to whether a pub is an appropriate place for a driver to take a break. Apparently according to Mumsnet it is. So there you go.

It does however breach amazons code of conduct for their drivers….

Well thankfully for basically everyone, you have no say whatsoever in where someone takes their breaks.

Purplefoo · 06/11/2025 23:01

Amazon don’t let you track the van’s exact spot. Try again

Only4nomore · 06/11/2025 23:01

I just need to know did the parcel eventually arrive...and was the driver steaming.

Breaks for 3hrs?

Why? Because you’ve decided it’s not appropriate? What about a cafe with an alcohol license? Or the car park of a Bargain Booze?
Honestly you need to have a day off!
