Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:28

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

How can a WWYD be wrong? It's a question.

You (and others) could have just said, "well in that situation I'd do nothing." There was no need for the pile on.

I did, but it was met with, as I’ve said previously

iIt's not that sort of pub

The tracking is pin point accurate, he’s in that pub

Op has experience of lorry drivers, van drivers etc turning up pissed

blah blah

And all the rest of the excuses as to why the driver was definitely in the pub getting pissed and then driving. OP had never said that she could possibly have got it wrong. It may be that the driver finished for the day, broke down etc. She’s continued to come back on people who suggested perfectly logical
explanations.

Accusing someone of DD, is totally unacceptable given the little “proof” that OP had. She wouldn’t take 20 mins out of her day to even see if he was actually at the pub!

Now, it’s like “I was so good, I didn’t even report him”, as if that’s a positive…… there was nothing to report him for.

OP also posted a final update around three days ago, but continues to engage so I’m not sure she’s too bothered about the “pile on”?

Posts such as

“You are a vile human being”
“ You are disgusting”
Calling me Hitler

ALL were direct attacks on me. They absolutely were personal. And there is ZERO excuse for it.

Or

They are true feelings because of your dogged attempt to paint a driver you know nothing about, who's on low pay and has shit working conditions as some terrible human being ...

Which you have done. Repeatedly. And there's no excuse

Lyraloo · 09/11/2025 23:20

sosorryimnotsorry · 09/11/2025 20:31

who said I reported the posts?

And No it says nothing about me. It says a hell of a lot about the posters who think that personal attacks online are acceptable. If there are repercussions on posters who have posts deleted by Mumsnet then that is entirely on them. Not whoever reported them.

But your original post was regarding reporting a driver to Amazon, for doing something, which you had no proof or even the slightest evidence, he was doing! Unfortunately for you, you can’t get people ‘sacked’ from mumsnet. You’re a hypocrite!

No. Try again. I asked a question on whether I should report it. People replied. Whilst I didn’t necessarily agree with everything they said I followed their advice not to report.
I have not said anything about getting anyone sacked. That’s YOU twisting it darling. Not me.

It doesn’t matter if they are their true feelings. It is still a personal attack. Which is not ok and against Mumsnet terms.

I asked a question. I got a response. There is nothing more too it. I did not report the driver. His actions are his own responsibility.

But you're still acting like you are in the right and everyone is wrong but you

That's the problem

His "actions" are things you've invented

You need to seriously think about your own attitude

You”re still not wrong though! 🤦‍♀️

You can’t just make up scenarios about other people, ones you won’t even take 20 mins out of your day to prove or more importantly dis prove!

Do you still believe the driver was getting pissed in the pub? Or do you think he finished work? Or something else happened, like the teacher just stopped? Do you think your accusation now was OTT?

Anyway, best get your head down for sleep, another very busy day tomorrow! What with taxes and Trump and Amazon drivers taking a break and everything,

“His actions” the ones you made up? No “actions” happened, only the ones you’ve imagined in your story. Because that’s what it is, a piece of made up fiction, that you’ve imagined.

It’s really not necessary to get this wound up over an Amazon delivery that didn’t turn up. How would you feel if you were late for something and people decided, she’s probably getting pissed in the pub or having a few glasses of wine, before she jumps in her car and drives here.

JMSA · 10/11/2025 00:49

You’re so unreasonable it’s unbelievable!

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 10/11/2025 01:06

Also you basically said you'd fire your staff for just going into a pub during a legit break, regardless of if they were drinking or not because it's "unprofessional"

And that's the height of unreasonable and controlling and frankly gross behaviour

HoppingPavlova · 10/11/2025 02:00

That absolutely sums it up. One of my kids has a job with a zero alcohol and drugs policy, and fair enough. To the point, that on entering the secured work area, they have to use the breathalyser set up and pass to enter. If they go out for a break, they have to re-do this on entering. Random drug test weekly. Guess where they go with workmates a few times a week - yes, the pub down the road. No one drinks alcohol. They all have a quick meal and a soft drink. This is not at all prohibited and an employment tribunal would fix it pretty quick if the employer went crackers and tried to impose this!

The OP seems to have some fantasy that anyone who steps foot in a pub must not only drink alcohol there, but must gorge themselves on it and leave in an inebriated state. It’s weird beyond belief, and yes, very controlling with others.

RubySquid · 10/11/2025 11:01

wrongthinker · 08/11/2025 22:41

Yes of course I've complained to Amazon before. Hasn't everyone? Do you think OP shouldn't complain because it might take a while to get her complaint heard? Weird.

By the way, you can usually speak to a human at amazon if you let them know the chatbot hasn't been able to resolve the issue.

Yes I always get a human. They still wouldn't be chasing a parcel the same day as it was due to be delivered

Agreed 💯 %, but that’s apparently makes us a bully, rather than the person making up mad excuses as to why the driver was getting pissed in the pub.

Without even driving the 8 mins to the pub, because, you know ….. far too busy to collect the really important part. But she knows they were deffo there and deffo drinking alcohol and deffo going to drive after.

Gossipisgood · 10/11/2025 12:53

How presumptuous of you to think he's drinking just because his van is parked in a pub car park. How do you know he's not pulled in to use the loo & is having a break in his van & the car park was the only place nearby to park? even if he is in the pub it doesn't necessarily mean he's drinking. Drivers can only drive so long by law & have to have a break so it might be he's at the end of his time & has to have his break now. Your job isn't any more important than his job so wait for your parcel & stop being so moany. & def do not report him to Amazon because you don't know the full circumstances.

Absolutely, it’s odd that mumsnet are deleting posts that she is constantly reporting, but it’s ok for her to point the finger and accuse people with no proof whatsoever. It’s disgraceful!

NoNameNoOne · 10/11/2025 22:38

Reading this through, I can only assume OP lives near the Chatsworth Estate and knows some of the Gallagher's and their neighbours. The sheer number of delivery driver and alcohol induced incidents including the lorry decimating their building for 6 weeks, the money laundering and drugs, the pub in the middle of nowhere that only sells alcohol and not food or soft drinks and the one way situation where vans can go in but can't come back out... It is straight out of Shameless. I'd watch it if there was a series! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

SezFrankly · 10/11/2025 23:29

Came back to see if OP has got her parcel. Yikes!

As the thread continued it did seem OP wasn’t the victim of a lunch break, but that can man had indeed decided to stay in the pub - and she still got a lot of flack! Unfair I’d say. Did everyone have a bad day yesterday? Maybe we all need to go to the pub!

Absolutely nothing suggested he decided to stay in the pub

Because, for a start, as has been said many times, there's no proof he was even IN the pub!

You don’t think that the tracker might have stopped working? Or the driver had finished for the day? That they never had the parcel?

OP doesn’t know for sure he was in the pub, no matter what she “thinks”, she didn’t go there and prove it.

You also think he “just decided” to get pissed in the non soft drink selling pub, then drive home?

Quite an accusation, you and OP are making!

Others might think it was just a failed delivery, because it happens all the time. But no, you carry on making up mad scenarios about people.

Oh and incidentally how do you know it was “van man” getting pissed, maybe it was “ van woman”?

I would stop drinking if my mind was jumping to such unfounded conclusions, over an Amazon delivery 🤦‍♀️!

Not made any accusations. I've no issue with anyone knocking off work and doing whatever they want.

If you look at my other posts you'd have known that but carry on jumping in with both feet 🙄
I suppose it saves you kicking the cat.

Delivery drivers have breaks too. Pubs have food and toilets. Why the hell can’t he be there?

For three hours?
