Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

Fuck me, people like you actually exist.

Why? Because I don’t think it’s ok for people to drive whilst under the influence? I have lost close family members at the hands of a van driver under the influence. So yes I do take it seriously!
If he had broken down they would have cancelled the delivery by now. It’s over 2 and a half hours late. I am leaving to go home now. My business partner is going to handle it.

You have absolutely no idea that he’s drinking alcohol.

usedtobeaylis · 06/11/2025 21:02

If I read this and had the power to, I would remove the ability to track drivers purely off the back of this thread. Bad enough when managers micromanage you without absolute randoms watching your every move.

You only grounds for complaint is that your delivery didn't arrive on time. That's it.

Freshstartyear25 · 06/11/2025 21:03

The van might just have broken down and he’s found a safe place to park where he can get help. You sound batshit. He’s probably paid less than a pound to deliver your item and you’re acting like he’s your slave. The tone of your post and replies leaves nothing to desire

Strawberry53 · 06/11/2025 21:04

You are being ridiculous! The person is allowed a break and the fact you’re stalking their whereabouts is extremely odd and Karen like behaviour. What on earth would you report them for anyway?! Having a break? It doesn’t matter if it’s a pub with food or not it’s none of your business maybe he’s having a soft drink and a smoke.

Honestly, how would you feel if somebody was watching your every move at work, you wouldn’t like it. Amazon is a tough enough place to work without you making it harder. Leave this person alone and find something else to think about, I’m sure you’ll get your parcel in good time.

Just because the location tracker is showing the vehicle in the pub car park...
Quite a syllogistic leap OP.

Thank God. 👏

Labamba78 · 06/11/2025 21:09

Oh my god surely this isn’t how you really think.

henlake7 · 06/11/2025 21:14

Similar thing happened to me. Next delivery but van didn't move for hours. Went way over the delivery time....
When they finally did move it was to a garage and the delivery was rescheduled.
So obviously they broke down, which was unavoidable.

Pretty sure he was parked near a local knocking shop so I could of jumped on Mumsnet and accused him of stopping for a quickie i suppose!😂

Yyyp · 06/11/2025 21:14

He is realistically not drinking, there will be a reason for him being where he is. If he has broken down they wouldn’t cancel the delivery, not sure why you think that, his manager will know where he is and why.

Op is definitely going to update later saying he turned up stinking of alcohol.

Yes indeed.

Northquit · 06/11/2025 21:17

It'll explain why the vans are so dented.

How do you come to the conclusion that he is driving under the influence ? Especially as the van hasn't moved from the pub so not being driven anywhere 😆 😂

rainbowunicorn · 06/11/2025 21:21

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:33

He has been 35 mins so not a quick break. Pub doesn’t serve or sell food. Never has.
Not the type of place you would go for a snack or a coke.

My husband is a delivery driver. Chances are the driver has just parked up in the pub car park to have his break. He's probably sat in his van eating a sandwich. They park up places like that as they can nip in and use the loo, eat their food and not have to worry about parking up on the street. Even thinking of reporting him to his employer is a complete dick move. As an aside he isnt doing anything wrong if he is sat in the pub having a coke while hes on his break. Just dont be that person.

Mochudubh · 06/11/2025 21:21

Are you the same type of person who phones the council to complain about bin men "skiving" in Asda's car park at lunchtimes?

It being one of the few places big enough to park a bin lorry that also has access to food and toilets and convenient on the way back from the tip.

Seriously, stfu and make yourself a cup of tea and then give your head a wobble.

Haha. THIS

Wow! Thanks for the feedback! Driver is still at the pub. It’s now been 1hr and 29 minutes since we first looked at the tracking.
I take drink driving extremely seriously and any member of staff here would be in trouble if they were caught at the pub on a break. Incidentally we are now 2hrs outside the delivery window which ended at 6:15.

they might have broken down

do you always go to the least charitable explanation?

Delivery drivers have a hard time, whether it is parcels, groceries or food. It is well-documented how their employers try to exploit them. OP is both bat-shit and cruel!

if the pub is just a couple miles away, why didnt you just drive there and see for yourself what he was doing and get your package while you were at it?

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 06/11/2025 21:33

A while back an Amazon van carrying my delivery was stationary for ages three drops away from me. 👀. I was outraged as he must have been having a shag with the lady of the house. What a surprise then when he was still showing as parked there when he was at my house delivering my parcel.
