Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

Op is definitely going to update later saying he turned up stinking of alcohol.

With a pint of Stella balancing on the dashboard.

MinervaMouseHunter · 06/11/2025 20:41

You sound a bit mental op. Yabu, obviously.

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 20:19

It wouldn’t be the first time we have had delivery drivers turn up clearly under the influence.

Did you report them to the police?

TheNightingalesStarling · 06/11/2025 20:41

If you seriously think you've had a drunk delivery driver, the correct procedure is to report immediately to the police, not bitch online about late deliveries.

The most likely scenario her is a problem with the van, not the driver getting legless

Throwntothewolves · 06/11/2025 20:33

Your main concern is getting your delivery, not whether the driver is drinking alcohol.

From the sounds of it, OP is the one who is drinking alcohol! I suspect it’s an alcohol delivery and she’s worried/jealous the driver is drinking it.

There are ridiculous threads on this site every day but this is one of the most unhinged I think I’ve ever seen, and I love it.

Keep at the wine, OP. You’re doing great xx

BatchCookBabe · 06/11/2025 20:42

If ever there was a good time to take someone's smartphone and computer off them! This is that time!!! 😂

Seriously @sosorryimnotsorry go and have a glass of wine, and chill out FFS. Leave the poor delivery driver alone. He works in a high stress, demanding, low paid job as it is, he doesn't need you pecking his head, wagging your finger at him, and cussing him for having the audacity to have .... GASP ... a BREAK!!!

And you don't know he is drinking alcohol. DH and I go to the pub once or twice a month, and we both have Guinness zero! NO ALCOHOL!

Why the hell are you following his every move??? Weird as fuck. 😬

Yyyp · 06/11/2025 20:44

Probably just on a break. I’ve done delivery driving before, I’ve stopped at all sorts of places, just because you wouldn’t stop there for coke and snack doesn’t mean others wouldn’t, pubs are some of the friendliest places for a driver to stop and get a soft drink and toilet use etc compared to other restaurants and what not, or maybe theyve broken down, maybe the tracking is not working who knows.
one of the worst things a lot of these companies have done is give customers tracking as it ends up with craziness like this or oh you were stopped for ages before delivering to me etc, if it doesn’t arrive on its scheduled day, complain but complaining about where they have stopped (when you have no idea why) is ridiculous

BatchCookBabe · 06/11/2025 20:44

There's no way in hell this driver is drinking alcohol at the pub. KNOWING he has to drive his van tonight... That's if he's even in the pub! He might be in his van, parked near the pub! (Having a break.)

RubySquid · 06/11/2025 20:46

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:32

Pub doesn’t sell food. It’s a tiny drinkers pub. Much more convenient places to stop.

He might just be in the vm bloody car park and visited their loo. Or having an orange juice. Is he not allowed a drink? I presume you don't get breaks at work

OnlyOnAFriday · 06/11/2025 20:47

Maybe that’s where they park their van overnight and they’ve clocked off.

rainbowsandraspberrygin · 06/11/2025 20:48

Maybe the van broke down? Maybe he’s exhausted? Maybe the tracking is wrong and he’s not there at all??

i know it’s annoying but not a lot you can do really.

FreyjaOfTheNorth · 06/11/2025 20:49

Perhaps he’s spending his work day online, complaining about people. That’s how you spend your work day. Why would his be any different? It’s not his fault you didn’t plan better and have back-up supplies.

lessglittermoremud · 06/11/2025 20:51

Probably delivered to the pub and his tracking hasn’t updated, or he is sat in the car park eating his sandwiches and having a rest because he’s driven as many hours as he is able to without taking a break.
Amazon vans have cctv so they can spy on their drivers, there is no way he is sat in a pub downing pints when he is supposed to be out delivering 🙈

DingDongJingle · 06/11/2025 20:51

Fuck me, people like you actually exist.

youalright · 06/11/2025 20:53

Maybe he/she is scrolling mumsnet read this and walked home

itbemay1 · 06/11/2025 20:53

Vera87 · 06/11/2025 19:37

Maybe he’s sat in the car park having his break. I do this

My first thought too!

BatchCookBabe · 06/11/2025 20:54

Is anyone else REALLY hoping that the OP's package isn't delivered tonight, and it's re-scheduled for tomorrow? Grin Then, just as the delivery driver is 5 minutes drive away, he stops at a pub again for an hour? 😂

Yes 🤣🤣🤣

Loveyournails · 06/11/2025 20:55

Actually op. Why don’t you have a drive down to the pub and read him the riot act?

BatchCookBabe · 06/11/2025 20:57

youalright · 06/11/2025 20:54

Yes 🤣🤣🤣

Grin
HoskinsChoice · 06/11/2025 20:57

Go to the pub! Get on the bar and yell, 'WHICH ONE OF YOU HAS GOT MY PARCEL!?!'. Maybe shake your fist menacingly whilst yelling.

JoeSikoraTommysStory · 06/11/2025 20:57

He’s probably waiting for someone to sweep him given the time. Another driver will be meeting him to take half his parcels, he’s obviously had an awful route with to many packages.

I hope it turns up, and she hates it and has to return it.

Yeah, OP as you know where he is you should go down, pick up your parcel and give him a good old lecture while you’re at it!
