Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

Are you joking? You’re seriously thinking of contacting Amazon about this?

thebrollachan · 09/11/2025 12:53

I would always have assumed that unreliable tracking, followed by a delivery late in the day, was much more likely than a five hour pub session followed by marking everything delivered without actually doing so (and I can't believe Amazon would give OP information about other customers' deliveries either).

I'm very curious about where it ended up, but I guess if OP found it behind the recycling bin she was too embarrassed to tell us.

This thread has inspired me to go and leave positive feedback for the two delivery drivers I had this week.

OP, I think you need to consider ways of building just a little slack into your business. If you had the capacity to start making your whatevers earlier, you'd be less likely to run into this kind of last-minute rush where one thing going wrong risks everything. Taking on staff / paying for storage space will eat into profits short term but this is how you grow. Three days off in a year is not sustainable.

I’d love to be able to build slack into the business. However that isn’t viable just now. We would need an enormous cash injection which we do not have.
The run up to Christmas is always busy and it is what it is. Deadlines are tight and made much much worse by tarrifs and the difficulty getting goods in and out of the USA, on top of Brexit.
It is not a fun time in small business just now. I would have had a holiday but I had to cancel it to deal with the fallout of the tariffs and figuring out shipping issues to the USA.

Why does the OP need to address anything with any of you lunatics? Honestly, this thread is awful. Some people really get a kick out of being vile to others. I can only assume that there are a huge number of very unhappy people on Mumsnet because it really isn’t normal to bully others if you’re a happy contented person.

Op should NOT have made accusations about the driver being drunk
It's s bit rich to pull the victim/ bullying card.

Amazon wouldn't tell you "ye this driver marked all deliveries as delivered at 11pm and everyone's complaining"

Heck most of the time they won't even tell you your parcel is lost and will tell you to check around your place and the neighbours

But at this point, since OP is so insistent this place is the dodgiest place in the area, I'm genuinely worried the poor delivery bloke was mugged for his parcels and was injured/threatened and definitely needed help not being label a drink driver

Maybe the person is having his lunch break , even Amazon drivers are allowed a break. No I absolutely would not report him or her .

He has been 35 mins so not a quick break. Pub doesn’t serve or sell food. Never has.
Not the type of place you would go for a snack or a coke.

You obviously didn't get the responses you were hoping for . Hope the poor bloke has arrived before you get him sacked .

The title of her post alone is accusatory and she’s continued in that

It’s not that sort of pub

its not acceptable

it’s a drinkers pub

They won’t be having soft drink
They haven’t been down

I personally will always stand up to bullies, which OP acting like! But you do what you feel
is right.

She’s been told she BU, and still continues with “yeah buts”, so she’s not accepting that the WWYD is wrong.

How can a WWYD be wrong? It's a question.

You (and others) could have just said, "well in that situation I'd do nothing." There was no need for the pile on.

Amazon don’t offer before 1pm delivery.

Royal Mail do.

Why have you lied?

Amazon do offer delivery before 1pm.
I know cause I use it sometimes when I know I won't be in after 1.

It's lots of people who share the same opinion

Your quite good at twisting the situation to fit your narrative of me.

I asked a question. People made some points and I tried (and clearly failed) to explain our thinking and why we had concerns. I still think that it is a very odd choice for a break unless the driver knows or is part of the community that own the pub.

And as for not accepting the answer to the question. What more do you want? We didn’t report the driver. We reported the late delivery. Which was more than 6hrs late considering we paid for before 1pm delivery. We have cancelled the order and will receive a refund for the part.

But that doesn’t fit your narrative does it!

Your busy busy busy narrative is odd considering the time you’ve taken to keep posting this nothing burger. 🤷‍♀️

I think a lot of us are just baffled. How were you able to get a refund when the delivery was logged complete? They usually get you to check safe places, neighbours etc first, rather than just believe that it didn't arrive at all.

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 09/11/2025 19:35

Because your explanations are equally batshit and you refuse to listen to the massive, massive majority explaining why you're wrong

How have I refused to listen? I have not reported the driver. I am also entitled to my own opinion about the drivers behaviour.

What is really shocking on this thread is how it is no longer possible on this forum to have a discussion about differing points of view without posters going on the attack. Just look at the number of posts Mumsnet have deleted because of the posters personal attack on me.
I am allowed to have a different opinion. Regardless of whether or not other posters think I am wrong.

Because we have proof that no delivery was made. Amazon also can see the tracking and know that the van did not come here. We have CCTV covering the property and the our driveway. But Amazon didn’t need it because they have their own methods of checking.

The situation is being investigated by Amazon. Which in itself is unusual. I doubt we will hear the outcome but we don’t need to. We are being refunded that’s all we need to know.

Ah, that makes sense! So he must have delivered to completely the wrong destination or not at all, and we will never find out (no delivery photo, I take it, and no-one on your local WhatsApp complaining about a mystery delivery - we get a lot of those!).

The fact you have reported so many posts, is absolutely proof of the sort of person you are! Report people first, and to hell with the consequences for them!

who said I reported the posts?

And No it says nothing about me. It says a hell of a lot about the posters who think that personal attacks online are acceptable. If there are repercussions on posters who have posts deleted by Mumsnet then that is entirely on them. Not whoever reported them.

They weren't personal attacks on you, some might have been because they were too explicit in calling this thread BS for example

You haven't listened because when people have said "he's entitled to a break" and "pubs don't just sell booze" and "He might not even be in the pub" You've just doubled down and down and down on why you think he would ONLY be there to get wasted whilst at work because you refuse to entertain any other opinion on why he might stop there (or not even there because as has been said multiple times, and you've ignored, the tracker isn't that accurate!)

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 09/11/2025 20:36

Also MN will delete like 99% of posts reported as "personal attack" even if they aren't really attacking anyone because they tend to err on the side of caution for most topics

Posts such as

“You are a vile human being”
“ You are disgusting”
Calling me Hitler

ALL were direct attacks on me. They absolutely were personal. And there is ZERO excuse for it.

You had nothing to report the driver for, I’m not sure why you’re making it sound like you decided to not report him as a favour to him?

He had done nothing wrong, you’d made up a whole scenario in your head and had nothing to prove you were right.

I’ve not twisted anything, it’s all here for people to see.
