Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

JFC. He’s not in the emergency services. They get paid buttons and are treated like dirt.

Get a grip

Drive to the pub and confront him.

@sosorryimnotsorry
Did you get your package in the end?
Did he/she breakdown?
Any updates?

Thats not what I said. My colleague got a delivered email notification around 11pm. Not sure the precise time. She was still at work and there had been no delivery.

Definitely not the same poster. I didn’t read the thread you are talking about. I don’t have a husband or indeed a child!

What did the delivery photo show? Wrong delivery address ?

MyBrightPeer · 08/11/2025 21:09

Poor planning on your part doesn’t constitute an emergency on his. Presumably he’s allowed a break or is that not allowed because you didn’t prepare properly?

Could you reread my posts and come back and tell me how we could have better prepared please!
Short of having a crystal ball we could not have known that an essential part was going to fail. 20 years we have been using these machines and we have never had this specific part fail before.

But you would know that if you had read the thread and comprehended what I wrote!

He is at a well known drinkers pub. It isn’t the type of place you go for a break.

And you know, without a doubt, that he/she is INSIDE the pub do you? Actually no you don't.
Every delivery I have from there, there is a period, just before me, where the tracker doesn't move. They're obviously having a break, that they're ENTITLED TO. Drivers have to have breaks every so often, it's the law. Usually I see they're tucked up out the way somewhere where they won't see lots of people and be harassed 'you got something for number... ??'
Next time, be a bit more organised, order your stuff in time, so you're not waiting on it, and STOP being so presumptuous and selfish

Jesus Christ why is Mumsnet such a cess pit of bullies!?

Why are you all being so nasty to her and being so condescending about the traumatic death of a loved one FFS!? Whats wrong with you all?

Thank you! Sadly this has brought out the worst of Mumsnet!
It’s a good job I have a very thick skin!

Why does that not surprise me? But for someone who’s constantly telling us how busy she is, you have a lot of time to spend on mumsnet arguing your right!
Clearly, the vast majority of posters think you’re totally out of order, but you still argue you’re right. Maybe read back through your posts and ponder on how you come across to other people! It’s really not a good impression you’re giving!

Really? I’ve been on all of 10 minutes today! Purely to have a laugh at the comments!

You really do seem obsessed with how long I spend on line! I suggest getting a hobby!

Have you actually ever complained to Amazon? You have to do online chat and they tell you to wait 2 days then get back in contact if it's not arrived

Yes of course I've complained to Amazon before. Hasn't everyone? Do you think OP shouldn't complain because it might take a while to get her complaint heard? Weird.

By the way, you can usually speak to a human at amazon if you let them know the chatbot hasn't been able to resolve the issue.

Was it delivered to the wrong address then? Delivery photo?

Genevieva · 08/11/2025 23:02

sosorryimnotsorry · 07/11/2025 02:47

To be fair we wouldn’t have thought anything of it at all had the delivery been within the window Amazon had sent us. We only checked it again because we needed to be able to receive it and we were running machinery that requires constant supervision. So it was actually quite important that we didn’t start up the second machine until it was delivered. It’s very frustrating when you’re waiting for something and literally cannot get on until it arrives. Normally it isn’t so much of an issue as there is usually more people in the building. So the frustration was born out of a need to get on and not being able to because the tracking constantly said 8 minutes away for 2.5hrs.

Why didn’t you drive to the pub 8 minutes away and collect it?

Their point was there's no point complaining before the 48 hours because Amazon will tell you to wait in case its been delivered elsewhere

MrsS424 · 08/11/2025 23:15

You have absolutely no idea what he/she is doing. Stop assuming or making scenarios in your head.
The world doesn't revolve around you and your package and your sense of entitlement thinking it's ok to make a complaint about someone for something like this is absolutely absurd! Wake up

Lou670 · 08/11/2025 23:22

I think you need help for ptsd with all the alcohol related incidents that have happened to you. Never known anyone that have had that many.

Genevieva · 08/11/2025 23:02

Because we had machines running that could not be left unattended whilst in use.

No Amazon don’t know what happened to it. Or the other parcels on the van. Or they didn’t when my colleague spoke to them yesterday morning.

But you left to go home…….why not go on your way home?

Your business partner was on the premises? Or do you need more than one person to be around with the machinery?

He’ll be on his meal break.

Which can be a legal requirement for professional drivers.

There must be at least one person in any room where any of the machines are powered up. If anyone is operating a machine then there has to be a spotter as well. It’s a bit complicated and it does depend on what we are doing and which machines are running. Ideally there should be at least 3 people so if one person needs to step away for a moment they can. That’s why it’s so important to have a good handle on logistics. We can’t just leave the room if a delivery turns up.

I left when it was safe to do so and my business partners husband was in the office.

I wouldn’t feel safe going to this specific location and certainly not alone. I also had a lot of work to do once I got home. Evidenced by the middle of the night Mumsnet posts when I get bored of editing product photos and descriptions!
