Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

Which can be a legal requirement for professional drivers.

But have they checked with the op first?

There must be at least one person in any room where any of the machines are powered up. If anyone is operating a machine then there has to be a spotter as well. It’s a bit complicated and it does depend on what we are doing and which machines are running. Ideally there should be at least 3 people so if one person needs to step away for a moment they can. That’s why it’s so important to have a good handle on logistics. We can’t just leave the room if a delivery turns up.

I left when it was safe to do so and my business partners husband was in the office.

I wouldn’t feel safe going to this specific location and certainly not alone. I also had a lot of work to do once I got home. Evidenced by the middle of the night Mumsnet posts when I get bored of editing product photos and descriptions!

Oh gosh no, it would be really dangerous, I’m sure you’d probably have been attacked! Without doubt!

Is OP ever going to address the fact that they were wrong to accuse the driver of getting drunk in a dodgy pub on duty?

...not to mention accusing past drivers of being drunk

GinaandGin · 09/11/2025 07:40

Can OP please issue a list of places which are ''appropriate ' to take breaks ?
Is Costa OK? Is neros declasse?
What would debrets advise ?

Orangeoranges42 · 09/11/2025 08:38

the vehicle may have broken down! Or driver unwell.

appreciate its frustrating when you need something but sometimes need to take a fresh look at things.

Why does the OP need to address anything with any of you lunatics? Honestly, this thread is awful. Some people really get a kick out of being vile to others. I can only assume that there are a huge number of very unhappy people on Mumsnet because it really isn’t normal to bully others if you’re a happy contented person.

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 09/11/2025 09:12

No one is bullying the OP

She made a ridiculous claim, doubled down (and then tripled and quadrupled down) when called out on it and continues to feel in the right with no evidence that is the case

wrongthinker · 09/11/2025 09:22

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 08/11/2025 23:15

Their point was there's no point complaining before the 48 hours because Amazon will tell you to wait in case its been delivered elsewhere

They won't, though. Not if you pursue it until you get a human. It's not that hard - their customer service is actually pretty good.

This is one of the worst threads I've seen on MN for people just being nasty to OP. She asked 'what would you do' and instead of getting that advice, pp just laid into her. I don't think they realise how absolutely insane and awful they come across. Or maybe they do, and they think it's worth it for the transient pleasure of attacking someone else. Really sad that this is all some people have in their lives.

Even the humans will often not help after one day
They tell you to check with neighbours etc

Oh get over yourself. I haven't read every single comment on here, but as far as I have seen no-one has been vile to the OP* *- if anyone told her to "jump off a bridge" I'll take that back. And don't think anyone was unsympathetic about non-delivery of item. OP however (IMO) made some pretty awful and judgy comments (not to mention a bit bizarre) about the driver, other drivers and a landlord/pub that would be slanderous if she were naming names. Obviously she was going to get a hard time on here. Also there were quite a few humorous comments that obviously went over your head.

I'd have a bit of sympathy for the OP if she came on to say something along the lines so "gosh, I got a bit het up waiting for that delivery maybe I shouldn't have accused the driver of loafing in a dodgy pub getting plastered or other delivery drivers of drink driving as that was the wrong thing to do?".

Yes I agree OP does come across as a dreadful bully, I mean she thinks she can decide that the Amazon delivery driver is a drink driver, without even meeting or knowing him. How bad is that. Not once but a number of times she’s insisted she “knows”, utter 💩!

Based on what? Her experiences? Which seems weird that one person has experienced all that? Deaths, Lorry through factory front, drivers turning up under the influence. Yet still has the ability to laugh at others responses,

A lunatic indeed who feels she can dictate where people take their break and be unable to accept that the tracker probably stopped? That she could’ve gone to the pub to get the desperately needed part, but couldn’t because she couldn’t spare 20 mins, to save potentially hours of time the next day. But she’s fat too busy and scared to do that, or is it that she knew really the tracker was likely wrong?

Is she happy no, she’s had only 3 days off in the past year and works until the middle of the night to get work done. I’m not surprised she’s not happy.

However, even with all that she is BU to “report” the driver for being in the pub whilst on duty…. Because she doesn’t know he was. If he was, if he was drinking.

At no point has she said that the tracker could’ve been wrong, just kept insisting that he shouldn’t be there, it’s a drink drivers pub, it’s not the sort of place for a soft drink, he couldn’t have broken down because she’d know. Never once has she conceded it was just a failed delivery and stuff happens.

Maybe, if you were on the receiving end of such an accusation, totally unfounded, you’d feel differently?

Good to see that 97% think she’s wrong, shame OP still can’t see it.

Thank you! I appreciate that I do treat people on merit, the driver had done nothing wrong, despite OPs ridiculous awful claims that he/shevis a drink driver.

I can’t believe that she decided that,

Can you? Do you think it was in anyway justified?

I think OP was frustrated and upset about an important delivery and asked for advice on what she should do. Then got piled on by bullies telling her she's what's wrong with the world.

Do you think your behaviour is justified? Bullying a woman simply because you saw the opportunity to pile on? You do realise that she hadn't actually reported the driver or done anything at that stage other than voice her concerns? And yet she got told she's an awful person, she's what's wrong with the world, she's ridiculous etc etc.

You and others on this thread have been very unpleasant and you don't seem to realise that this says a lot more about you than it does about the OP.

The title of her post alone is accusatory and she’s continued in that

It’s not that sort of pub

its not acceptable

it’s a drinkers pub

They won’t be having soft drink
They haven’t been down

I personally will always stand up to bullies, which OP acting like! But you do what you feel
is right.

She’s been told she BU, and still continues with “yeah buts”, so she’s not accepting that the WWYD is wrong.

Really? I’ve been on all of 10 minutes today! Purely to have a laugh at the comments!

You really do seem obsessed with how long I spend on line! I suggest getting a hobby!

You really are hilarious, sadly, not in a good way!

Because we had machines running that could not be left unattended whilst in use.

You said your business partner was there!

@sosorryimnotsorry perhaps you should ensure you place orders in good time. Then you would not have to be panicking over a delivery.

Do you have every replacement part possibly needed for every part of your washer/ fridge / car / vac /dishwasher.
Part of @sosorryimnotsorry machine broke and it is this that they are waiting for so they can carry on working.

NamelessNancy · 09/11/2025 11:05

FGS OP was perfectly reasonable to be irritated by the late/failed delivery. I would have been too. Where people felt the line was crossed was in threats to report the driver to their employer with baseless accusations of drunk driving. Threatening someone's livelihood like that with no real basis is not nice behaviour.

Op I'm sorry your delivery didn't arrive and even sorrier that you've had such awful experiences due to drink driving. I think it might be skewing your perspective though.

PencilsInSpace · 09/11/2025 11:22

This thread has inspired me to go and leave positive feedback for the two delivery drivers I had this week.

OP, I think you need to consider ways of building just a little slack into your business. If you had the capacity to start making your whatevers earlier, you'd be less likely to run into this kind of last-minute rush where one thing going wrong risks everything. Taking on staff / paying for storage space will eat into profits short term but this is how you grow. Three days off in a year is not sustainable.

Labelledelune · 09/11/2025 12:10

I think you need to get a grip.
