Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

I hope the driver has read this thread and thrown your parcel in the bin 👍

I hope I never buy anything produced by the OP’s company.

Thanks for your support! You will never know if you do 😘

Well it’s not his last delivery because he hasn’t delivered his last delivery!

Amazon has been contacted about the late delivery. I don’t believe the pub has been mentioned.

Yes we are a real business! Funnily enough real businesses sometimes use Amazon too! Hope that doesn’t shock you too much! We have many many suppliers - but not for random parts for a machiene that only broke yesterday.

Funnily enough everyone that enters a pub isn’t drinking an alcoholic drink, hope that does not shock you too much?

Maybe he’s finding he’s falling asleep, understands the need to rest and not be a danger to others on the road by being over tired.

Pity, that!

I hate to break it to you but he probably doesn’t work for Amazon.

I will agree I need a day off. Have had 3 days in total this year! The joys of running a business!

is this why YABU, if so, sort your life out. Take time off and start thinking and behaving rationally. Your reaction to a late Amazon delivery is ridiculous.

Running your own business doesn’t mean only 3 days off a year, stop being a martyr!

It’s making you into a total nightmare, by the sound of it.

I’m sure your business partner can cope on their own for a couple of weeks?

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 06/11/2025 23:35

OP - you didn't get chatted up by your son's old teacher did you?

You're giving me that poster vibes

wineosaurus4 · 06/11/2025 23:47

OP you’re positively nuts Grin this thread has given me a giggle that’s for sure!

AyrshireTryer · 06/11/2025 23:53

For the love of...

I'm a postie, get 20 minutes break per day and hardly ever take it.
Often work over and get paid same rate of pay.
We are trying, we should take breaks, people leaving in droves.

Rose213 · 07/11/2025 00:24

Your sense of entitlement is ridiculous. Me me me! Maybe the guys just on his lunch break!

I am on Reddit and keep seeing posts on the Royal Mail subreddit pop up. Being a postie sounds awful now. So many starting then leaving etc.
I think a lot of folks just assume it is a leisurely stroll around a few roads, popping in letters through people's doors and going home to enjoy the rest of your day by lunch time.

Im perfectly rational i just asked a simple question about whether something was appropriate or not 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t really much care. I’m irritated the parcel hasn’t turned up that’s all. But apparently it’s really unreasonable to expect a delivery to arrive at the specified time!

I never said they couldn’t take breaks, but I am not convinced a pub in the middle of nowhere is an appropriate place for anyone in the middle of a shift - least of all a driver to take one.

Unfortunately they don't have a canteen.

”I’m perfectly rational” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah righto!

It’s not rational to be throwing out wild accusations!

I also question you having other van drivers turn up drunk 🤔🤔🤔🤔. Just don’t believe that! And what a coincidence that a family member was involved in an accident with a drink driver of a van…..

He may not have even had the item on his van, therefore knocked off work, just because it says it’s on the van, doesn’t mean it is

ohnonowwhat1 · 07/11/2025 01:07

I find the Amazon tracker fairly unreliable to be honest. Once I saw that that he was 3 stops away , but was at one of the stops for hours. I kept checking and nothing changed. Eventually (and i am talking hours later) I contacted Amazon and was told the driver couldn’t deliver and would try again the next day. I think when he decided for whatever reason he couldn’t continue delivering (maybe he’d exceeded his shift time) his tracker was switched off or something. It showed him there for hours and hours so that definitely wasn’t right.

BauhausOfEliott · 07/11/2025 01:10

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 21:01

Why? Because I don’t think it’s ok for people to drive whilst under the influence? I have lost close family members at the hands of a van driver under the influence. So yes I do take it seriously!
If he had broken down they would have cancelled the delivery by now. It’s over 2 and a half hours late. I am leaving to go home now. My business partner is going to handle it.

You. Do. Not. Know. That. He. Is. Drinking.

You sound absolutely insane.

All evidence points to the contrary.

You aren't rational
You didn't ask if something was OK, you asked what to do. And when told "nothing" and "it's fine, leave him be" you began going on about drunk drivers and Amazon Code of Conduct (!)

Your AIBU and subsequent replies aren't even about the delivery arriving on time!

Muffinmam · 07/11/2025 01:42

It’s more likely he’s parked his car to eat lunch and he’s using the pub’s facilities to use the toilet.

You sound really nasty and need to work on at least pretending you are empathetic.

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 23:00

I simply asked a question as to whether a pub is an appropriate place for a driver to take a break. Apparently according to Mumsnet it is. So there you go.

It does however breach amazons code of conduct for their drivers….

Seriously? Amazon have a policy saying their drivers can't use a pub toilet or sit in a pub car park to eat their sandwiches!
I can understand them saying no alcohol to be consumed when working but I don't believe they would say our drivers can't use a pub for any reason (including using the toilet).
I would be willing to bed the van broke down or something and they forgot to update the system to say cancelled delivery.

sickofsixseven · 07/11/2025 02:06

It's most likely his tracker malfunctioned and he's actually finished his shift. You have zero evidence he was drinking. Just because it says something will be delivered in a certain window, it's not a guarantee. Shit happens.

Lyraloo · 07/11/2025 02:11

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:32

Pub doesn’t sell food. It’s a tiny drinkers pub. Much more convenient places to stop.

Wow! Who are you, the ‘break police’ ? What the heck gives you the right to say when and where he might stop for his break? Self entitled or what!

Just seen your posting about the driver being on one spot for 1 1/2 hours and well outside the delivery window. It could well indicate that the vehicle has broken down or been involved in an accident. Or for an evening delivery s/he may have run out of the time for which s/he is allowed to drive. In that case your delivery will be re-scheduled for tomorrow.

Bear in mind these schematics are not accurate. Once it appeared to show my drivers' van was in the middle of the lake in a nearby park! Ive also had Deliveroo food deliveries which appear to have come through the lake which is geographcally between the main road and the estate where I live.
