Jodie Turner-Smith Graham Norton

Just watched the Graham Norton show with Jodie Turner-Smith AIBU or was she utterly obnoxious? Every single move she made was the sickly sweet looking at the camera for attention. Whenever any other celebrity has the spotlight she interjected and tried to bring the attention back to her. Her whole time on the show was pathetic acting for attention and extremely false.

Did anyone else see this or AIBU?

I google imaged her and still have no idea who she is.

Thisistemporary · 19/10/2025 15:46

I thought the exact same, I’d never seen her interviewed before and was surprised at how unlikeable she came across. And so much name dropping.

unusualarrangement · 19/10/2025 16:35

I think it’s because Joshua Jackson has always come accross as being a nice guy and he was wronged in The Affair😀

She is so beautiful that she can literally do whatever she wants, as far as I’m concerned. Ridiculously stunning woman.

From what I’ve seen, Margot Robbie knows how to behave and it would be hard to find someone more beautiful than her.

Depends how you were brought up, I suppose.

AzureCats · 19/10/2025 18:12

The literal Barbie comparison 😂 you couldn't make this shit up. It's not even thinly veiled any more.

There’s a particular sort of collective neck twitch that happens on Mumsnet when a woman is all three: stunning, successful and unambiguously Black. Commenters start qualifying their praise or picking apart tiny things, like they can’t quite process it.

They’re fine with mixed race or ethnically ambiguous Zendaya type beauty, but once it’s someone like Anok Yai or Jodie, the tone changes. Suddenly she’s “not that special”, or they start hedging the language, qualifying their admiration, or shifting the conversation to something else entirely. There was a thread about Anok earlier this year that went properly odd. Think I’ll try to dig it up.

Well bloody said. 👏👏👏
As in life, black women are expected to behave in a palatable way to appease the white British majority. Don't be too loud, too different, too confident, too beautiful, too successful, too talkative.

They literally cannot help themselves. 🤣

Taylor Swift appeared for the first time (as far as I’m aware) with a completely new face.

Robbie Williams was completely unhinged the following week and performed the shittest song of his career.

Yet it’s a black woman with a personality that deserves a thread of people bitching??

The racism in the racism in this country is so fucking insidious

stillavid · 19/10/2025 18:55

It was a weird episode - the lighting was heinous as Taylor looked completely different about 4 days later on a US show and I have fillers and know that a couple of days doesn't make that much difference.

All the women on that night were gorgeous and entertaining but the vibes were a bit off. I think Jodie and Taylor had met before when a bit pissed so Jodie was just picking up on that. In the real world it isn't that unusual to ask about plans for children I guess

Oldconker · 19/10/2025 19:16

She was a stunning ‘Anne Boleyn’ .

fatphalange · 19/10/2025 19:17

She’s farrrrrr from the only chat show guest to have been a bit under the influence in the history of chat shows ffs

She’s no more attractive than any other good looking actress imo. Someone mentioned Anok Yai above and she takes my breath away!

Either way she’s a celeb on a chat show. Why else are they there except for publicity? So it’s weird to accuse her of being attention seeking when that’s the whole point.

But Anok Yai is stunning, and I just don't "get" Jodie as being vaunted as gorgeous in that way?

Possibly she looks better moving, I've only ever seen stills of her resting face, which like JK Rowling, is unfortunately "resting smug face".

You are welcome. It is simply the only suitable response for bad faith, tiresome accusations of racism. Either that or just ignore but I made the effort and gave you a 💤

Apparently she kept asking Taylor Swift if she and Travis Kelce are planning babies and they had to cut it out of the final edit

Some random audience member said this, but there's no proof.

I've been to the shooting of these shows as free audience tickets, the great unwashed can make up anything about anyone.

It's clear Jodie and Taylor get on well and socialise.

The shooting goes on for a lot longer than what is shown, so it does get tiring for the celebrity guests.

PoliteSquid · 18/10/2025 23:12

Oh at long last! I wasn’t sure who she was! But bloody hell she behaved appallingly. I watched it thinking “shut up you rude cow!” And what was all the pouting and checking the cameras? It was excruciating - I did wonder if she was high.

She spoke less than anyone else and you found her the most annoying? That is bloody weird.

I'm not black, but I have to agree. I've just watched it and can't see where she was rude to anyone.

Two thirds of the show was dominated by Taylor Swift (which makes sense given she is the biggest star for many) but for people to still criticise Jodie despite her having very limited interview time is very weird.

AgentPidge · 19/10/2025 21:44

I had never seen Jodie before but I did think her behaviour was odd and did wonder if she was drunk.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 19/10/2025 21:48

I've never heard of her so I had a quick Google.
She's averagely attractive and has no dress sense.

Petrolitis · 19/10/2025 21:51

Dweetfidilove · 19/10/2025 00:23

One of the most ridiculously beautiful women ever☺️.

Nope not seeing that at all

ConnieHeart · 19/10/2025 22:03

She came across as having no personality

LoveItaly · 19/10/2025 22:08

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 19/10/2025 08:59

She’s a dickhead who’s had a lot of concessions because of how beautiful she is.

It’ll be interesting to see how she fares when her looks fade. I can’t believe all these comments excusing her rude behaviour just because she’s considered beautiful.

In what way was it bad faith?
