To ask how much you think I weigh?

I’m genuinely just curious. My hairdresser said she thought I’m a good 2-3 stone lighter than I actually am, so it got me thinking!

Gosh why do care OP, what does it matter what a bunch of strangers think you weigh?
Hairdressers are literally paid to make people feel good. That's their job. They compliment people all day long.

andfinallyhereweare · 12/10/2025 10:13

15stone

Coconutter24 · 12/10/2025 10:13

I’d guess around 14stone

MyDogHumpsThings · 12/10/2025 10:13

12 stone

Well done! You are doing so well!
Do you have a lot of excess skin?

Not really! My bingo wings do clap for me now though

I’m obese, yes. Down nearly ten stone from being off the BMI chart! I never thought I carried it well, but if nobody really believes my weight it makes me think I must?

That's an amazing loss. Well done!

Charlenedickens · 12/10/2025 10:15

DrowningInSyrup · 12/10/2025 10:08

Very well, that's not that far from clinically obese if your height is correct. You look very far from that, very far.

Huh? The ops bmi is 37.7

30 is obese. 40 is morbidly obese.

op, I think what the thread is showing is people have lost sight of what a healthy bmi looks like. And don’t recognise obesity when they see it. I onky got it right as although taller I also became obese and could see it in you as I could see it in myself. It is what it is.

good luck on your weight loss journey, it’s your call but I really personally wouldn’t be asking people to guess my weight, people have lost sight of a healthy BMI and what it looks like and are messed up about their own weight, which can skew the answers, plus some will think they should guess low to make you happy.

I’ve responded factually and honestly. Hopefully that’s what you wanted, although I’m not sure.

I’m 15 stone 8!!!

really shocked by all the low guesses, but I’m guessing I carry it quite well!

I was going to say between 15 and 16 stone! Nobody will believe now you've said it lol
Oops, I meant to add well done on your weightloss!

You've lost 10 stone? Well done, that truly is good going, keep it up! And yes, you do carry it well, the photos of you do not look too bad.

Slinkyminky22 · 12/10/2025 10:16

Im so surprised at the low guesses. You easily look your weight.

Coconutter24 · 12/10/2025 10:16

deleted because the site had a glitch and didn’t post my comment and then it did post after I reposted 🙈

ScoldsBridal · 12/10/2025 10:16

Congratulations on losing 10 stone - that’s incredible. You must feel so different. Hope you get to where you want to be for your health. Are you quite young?

Charlenedickens · 12/10/2025 10:17

Congrats on the ten stone op. That’s fantastic, I hope you feel so much better,

Arrrrrrragghhh · 12/10/2025 10:17

15 and half stone is a lot though - it's quite heavy even for a man.
I think most women who are size 14 and under don't tend to above 13 stone so can't imagine bigger weights well. Like I can't really guess people under 9 stones weight - they all look thin to me.

Well done on shifting 10 stone so far though.

Either people are being nice, or have lost sight of what different weights actually look like.

DiscoBob · 12/10/2025 10:17

MsTamborineMan · 12/10/2025 10:09

Given the fact her hairdresser guessed 2-3 st less than she actually is she's not going to weight 9.5st is she? That would mean the hairdresser guessed at 7st

I didn't really regard the bit about the hairdresser as I reckon she was just being flattering, as hairdressers do. But fair point.

I have! I’m quite young, as other posters have guessed, and still working at it! I’d like to settle at about a size 12. The nhs says I should be between 7 1/2 and 9 1/2 but that feels unrealistic at the moment!

Anonymouseposter · 12/10/2025 10:18

Because you’re short I’m going to say 12st 10. If you were 5ft 9 I would have guessed 14-15 stones. Height makes a big difference.

MsTamborineMan · 12/10/2025 10:18

DrowningInSyrup · 12/10/2025 10:09

Yep. I'm 12 stone and 5'5 and think I look heavier than that. A recent swimsuit photo was an absolute shocker.

Do you really think she looks that obese?

Edited

Without being too rude to the OP, yes.

I think people are a really poor judge of how big they look, and if that's your only reference for other people's weight then that also makes you a poor judge of other people's weight, bearing in mind in real life people will lie.

QuantumLeek · 12/10/2025 10:19

Amazing weight loss, well done!

theswordinthestone · 12/10/2025 10:19

mynameiscalypso · 12/10/2025 09:50

I’d say 14 stone, maybe heading towards 15.

I’d say this too 👆
I assume your hairdresser was being nice OP (particularly to a client paying them.)

MsTamborineMan · 12/10/2025 10:19

10st weight loss is amazing OP well done!

I’m very surprised at that, my guess was between 70-75kg (11 stone plus).

Comedycook · 12/10/2025 10:20

The term obese conjures up certain images doesn't it ... people on documentaries who can barely walk, totally inactive, absolutely huge and unable to wear any clothes other than huge tent style stuff. It's not really the case. I'm just in the obese category...I'm a size 14.. I'm aware I don't look thin but I also don't look like the huge people you see on TV shows about fat people and I'm perfectly active and can run round, run up stairs, exercise etc.

Honestly? At the risk of sounding unkind/rude, which I don't want, yes she does look obviously obese still. I am surprised how many people think she is lighter than she is, unless they were trying to be polite.
