Neighbour has put up huge Unite the Kingdom flag

UrticaDioca · 05/10/2025 15:05

I am gutted. I haven't seen a single flag in my town, and suddenly this union jack goes up two doors over with the words 'Unite the Kingdom' printed on it in capital letters. The flag is huge and flying from a pole on top of their shed, but it's in their own garden so nothing can be done.

I am the daughter of an immigrant mother and therefore mixed race. Now I have to see this fucking flag waving at me every time I look out of my kitchen or living room windows.

I’m an immigrant as well in the U.K. and none of this offends me.

The reason people are doing this isn’t about colour or race. It’s about culture.

When I immigrated to the U.K. I learned about its culture. I integrated with it and became part of my community,

How much are the men doing that who are illegally entering the UK ?

Other world leaders have called on the U.K. to take a tougher stance on this issue because of the issues it’s causing along every step of their journey. Maybe you need to educate yourself on that.

You were born to immigrant parents but you aren’t one. Maybe look around and see how well you and your family have integrated into British culture - do you speak English, do you obey the law, do not you respect British customs and traditions? / including free speech which you may not agree with - Yes to all those - then it’s nothing for you to get in a huff over.

What’s the offence with ‘unite the kingdom’ written on a Union Jack?

Nothing apart from the fact that the kingdom is not broken... therefore unnecessary...

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 05/10/2025 15:20

It's a Tommy Robinson slogan. Hence it is racist.

Is it though? Is the union jack simply just the union jack?

Are you seriously suggesting that no Muslim people hold racist views?

I agree. I worked with quite a number of Muslim colleagues some years ago, and their racism towards other communities in our town was truly shocking! Like really awful towards them, very rude and derogatory and full of hate. It was really saddening.

The flag waving everywhere, is in protest to the large number of illegal immigrants, that are turning up every day on our shores - 1000 a day just now. These are men with no ID, from countries where rape is not a crime.

It is not racist to be opposed to this. If you tried to walk through Heathrow without your passport, you, a British citizen, would be denied entry. And yet here we are, welcoming 1000's of men and placing them in hotels, in the middle of communities and it has had negative repercussions - for example, school girls being followed by foreign men, and in some cases there have been sexual assaults. People are angry. They didn't sign up to this. It's not racist to not want this. I wish people would stop spouting such bollocks.

But where have you got this number from?! As fast as I can see “Almost 37,000 people crossed the Channel in small boats in 2024 but the highest figures were for 2022, when 45,755 people arrived.” That is nowhere near a thousand a day. Are you referring to a headline where over 1,100 arrived on one day? That obviously doesn’t mean every day that number are arriving so you have either misunderstood or are deliberately wanting to mislead for dramatic effect.

ccridersuz · 08/10/2025 14:56

There is nothing racist about it, those that say different really need to get some education about what is actually said by TR and Farage firsthand and in context, not in snippets put forward by the bias mainstream media.
Supporters of both are being classed as racist, by the ignorance and lies of the far left, to diversify the UK.
Hence the slogan Unite the Kingdom.
If you are here legally, paying your taxes and not planning murder, rape or terrorist actions, then you need to understand that there is nothing in the flag flying actions of other’s that should cause you offence.
However, as you live in the United Kingdom, you live under The Jack, whether you like it or not, you also live under the Flags of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, depending on your location.
There is no need to insult our flag, no matter the slogan.
There is no need to think you are some sort of target.
There is certainly no need to brand someone displaying or marching with a flag of the nation racist.
Before you critique people, perhaps educate yourself by learning about their objectives, aims and goals.

'Who made the BBC scandal aware of the grooming gangs scandal back in 2001?' Who knows? I've covered this multiple times now. No one person can take credit for exposing this because hundreds if not thousands of people were talking about it at the time.

'There were no mass cover ups going on so as not to inflame racial tensions.' You know more than Baroness Casey it would seem...
Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says - BBC News

'In 2025, former Home Office minister Robert Jenrick said group-based child sexual exploitation was "perhaps the greatest racially motivated crime in modern Britain" and said it was covered up by the British state to protect community relations.'

'Simon Danczuk MP also claimed a Labour Party chairman had told him not to draw attention to the ethnicity of the gangs in his Rochdale constituency in case it affected the party's electoral chances.'
Grooming gangs: Labour were worried about 'upsetting the Pakistani vote', Danczuk says | Watch

'I will not click links that monetise Tommy Robinson inserting himself into the fight against VAWG or lying about being racist.' Not one of the links I have attached would monetise TR. That is a poor excuse for choosing to be wilfully ignorant.

'But you've watched them so I'm asking you: What exactly do you think Tommy Robinson did?' And I have answered this numerous times.

To deny TR has had a hand in exposing grooming gangs is an outright lie. But you refuse to look at the piles of evidence put before you, so there is the point of carrying on this discussion.

Baroness Louise Casey gestures with her hands during an interview

Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says

"We as a society owe these women a debt," the report also says.

On YouTube there is a video from 2015

"Tommy Robinson Full Address Oxford Union"

where he explains how/ where he started

I think they'd rather stick fingers in ears. 'Nah nah I'm not listening!'

Moellen54 · 08/10/2025 16:22

You dont need to be of colour to be an immigrant though. My father lived most of his childhood in New Zealand as his parents were missionaries. He was still an immigrant though. Honestly these flags and slogans are getting beyond a joke. We're on holiday in Malta and keep coming across the "shame on you" campaigners.

The fucking flag?!?! What from the country you decided to live in??? How disgusting rude!! This is the UK and we are entitled to fly our own flag!!!

But it is not the UK's flag. It's a Tommy Robinson flag, produced in China, which he makes money from selling. So calling the horrible thing "the fucking flag" is fair comment.

I doubt my neighbours are racist considering both sides are muslim.I live in one of those very diverse areas that some MNers think are no go areas.

Doesn’t mean they are not racist … just not towards Muslims!

So then a flag with this “fucking” slogan on. Why swear and rant about our flag if the slogan is the issue?!?!

They were a sight for sore eyes at the 150,000 supporters rally.
Wish I could have been there....

Put up a flag yourself, the Kingon one or something. Show then anyone can put a flag up. Bunch of racists

Sorry. I tried to respond to that and then I had to delete it because I responded to the wrong quote.

I haven't had any engagement with them at all. They're two doors over. I think next door knows them quite well and those neighbours are lovely. I might ask them what they think of it, although I'm slightly concerned that they might tacitly support it too!

So you have never engaged with these people but you and the majority of mumsnet have decided he’s a racist?

I really don’t understand how you can be this naive. The flag itself isn’t a problem, it’s who is waving it and what the intentions are . The far right have used the flag to be racist and have taken it as a symbol . The OP is concerned her neighbours are racist because of the rhetoric and connotations.

Not remotely naive; I just don't swallow the desired narrative the mainstream media wants me to.

Some in the UK appear to be made of zebra crossings and traffic islands.
