Neighbour has put up huge Unite the Kingdom flag

I am gutted. I haven't seen a single flag in my town, and suddenly this union jack goes up two doors over with the words 'Unite the Kingdom' printed on it in capital letters. The flag is huge and flying from a pole on top of their shed, but it's in their own garden so nothing can be done.

I am the daughter of an immigrant mother and therefore mixed race. Now I have to see this fucking flag waving at me every time I look out of my kitchen or living room windows.

WTF have I just read?🤯

So its OK as long as it's not actual rape and it's done by the thugs using our flag like dog piss?

What is wrong with you?🤯🤯🤯

You seem to be advocating for letting real rapists into this country unvetted, despite concrete evidence that they're literally sexually assaulting thousands of women and children.

Apparently it's fine because a few British blokes allegedly looked in somebody's window while up a ladder. Confused

I say 'allegedly' because unlike my examples there's no actual evidence of this happening.

GaIadriel · 31/07/2026 04:42

Bet you think Jimmy Saville was innocent. 🤣

CreativeGreen · 31/07/2026 09:23

Nobody is 'advocating for letting real rapists in', or suggesting that rape is fine because white British men behave appallingly to women and girls as well.

I'm making the point that the flaggers have shown literally no sign, at any other point, that they give a shit about the safety of women and girls, and indeed have actively compromised it. The flags do nothing to prevent any of the things they and you claim to be so upset about anyway: they merely make people of both sexes and all races feel deeply uncomfortable, in order to make a few racists feel happy.

Not sure where you're going with your Jimmy Saville comment so I'll just ignore that.

And if you don't understand that Reform having led in the polls does not, factually or numerically, mean that 'most people support Reform', then I'm not sure you're actually up to this or any serious conversation, to be honest.

And Reform are no longer leading in the polls now anyway. It’s looking like their bubble might have burst.

CreativeGreen · 31/07/2026 09:36

@LizzieW1969 - yes, quite!

I'm not a busy body. I don't have a clue about the comings and goings of my neighbours, but it's a huge flag right in my sight line as I'm washing up or sitting eating my dinner from my kitchen table. It's unmissable.

And yes, I will adjust and get used to it. It just went up today so I'm feeling grumpy and sad about it. It has added a little dampener to the happy sanctuary that I've created here in my home.

I get that OP. I felt so uncomfortable and sad when I had to drive my son (mixed race, dad a refugee) to work through the anti immigration protests and mile long line of England flags. At least we could get away from it after the drive was over. It definitely affected DS, he's an anxious person. We did eventually get used to it and could ignore it but that involves deadening a part of yourself that can be hurt, which is sad.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/07/2026 10:25

@PrincessOfPreschool that made me sad to read that too.

The truth of the matter is that these flag shaggers don’t care how it makes you feel. They don’t think you’re entitled to feel any way about it that differs from them. They impose their flags on all of us whether we like it or not. Then, ironically, moan and whine about any other flag (lgbtq+ for instance) because it makes them feel marginalised. Poor lambs. They give me the rage, and I’m so sorry they made your DS feel anxious.

Seriously? The only person advocating for sex offenders on this thread is you.

You a man @GaIadriel?

As soon as liberal left leaning people stop getting all snooty and indignant or reaching for the smelling salts, these people will get bored and stop doing it.

I did see a hilarious meme on facebook the other day. A photo of a residential street with old mattresses and fridge freezers lined up on the pavement, all painted with a red St George's cross on them.

The caption was something like 'Don't bother driving to the tip. Get your council to remove your old household rubbish for free. Simply put it on the pavement and paint the England flag on it. It will be gone within 24 hours.' 😂

And the worse thing about that is that I suspect t's probably true. They can't manage to collect the bins or mend the pot holes or answer the phones when you need to speak to a human being about a council issue, but you just know they'd find the resources for that.

Confirmed it's cock-all to do with violence against women and girls then? Just stirring up trouble and bad feeling? Sounds about right.

btw it took most of the councils who did decide to try to get rid of the racist litter a very long time and quite a lot of money - certainly didn't get cleared up over night.

GaIadriel · 01/08/2026 01:06

Despite there obviously being some knuckle draggers using this all as an excuse to indulge their violent tendencies, I'm amazed that some people apparently can't (or refuse to) recognise that we have real issues with immigration and that this is what has caused such an integral public shift.

This shift is what has allowed Reform to experience such unprecedented success and for the flaggers to get away with their antics. The mind boggles when you watch the news stories about 50-60,000 illegal immigrants forcing their way into Spanish territory over the weekend, with the death of 57 individuals. Shops having to close and the whole place basically locked down.

How people can watch this and not see we have an issue in Europe is truly confounding.

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/08/2026 01:26

We know we have issues with immigration.
"Hard men" littering our lampposts and erecting cameras🤯 doesn't deal with immigration.

Their point is intimidation. So away you with your advocating for far right thugs and abusive men who may or may not have got to the point of actual rape.😡

Yes yes, just ignore them and they’ll go away! Of course they will.

No thanks. I am not about to start appeasing this behaviour. Not at all. You might be happy to turn a blind eye to what is going on, and what harm is being caused to your neighbours, fellow citizens and community. I’m not.

You know where that “Spanish territory” is though right?
