In the wake of the tragic events that took place in Manchester, I want to implore people not to lose steam or, more importantly, hope.

Gaza is still facing destruction, famine and genocide.

We need to continue to peacefully pressure our government to take action and sanction the Israeli government and to educate and inform people about the horrors faced by the Palestinian people day in and day out for the last two years.

People who opposed the liberation of Palestine want for this to be a turning point. For people to point the finger at a movement that wants to see the end of the suffering of millions and label it as inciting hate.

It's not.
And it's important.

Please don't put down your passion for Gaza.

I'd like to issue an apology. All through this conflict I've been saying that the Ceasefire Now! people and Stop the War wouldn't want a ceasefire or to stop the war if Hamas was winning. Turns out they don't want those things if Hamas is losing either.

👏👏👏

It appears you have no empathy for Jews who are highly distressed by your protests. So you keep telling yourself you’re kind and moral. Shane on you! Shame on you! No one is fooled by these protests and what they hide.

Well said.

So now we're erasing Jewish people and the fact they're being attacked and murdered for views espoused and emboldened by these marches from the conversation? That tracks.

Jewish people have got absolutely nothing to do with protesting for peace in Gaza.

wrongthinker · 04/10/2025 17:01

Icreatedausernameyippee · 04/10/2025 16:57

You believe for a second that Israel are willing to fairly divide the land and dissolve their current government to create equality for both Israel and Palestine?
Hamas are rejecting unfair "peace offers".

You do realise the land was already divided and Israel had withdrawn from Gaza for several years before the Pogrom on October 7th? Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in 2005, evacuating all Jewish towns and military presence, leaving the territory entirely under Palestinian control.

What? Did you not read the newspapers for 20 years?

I don't even know how to respond to this. I genuinely don't know how to argue with willful ignorance.

As someone living in Manchester I’d quite like the police force to be focussing on keeping me and everyone else safe from terrorist nut jobs instead of splitting their time between that and policing yet another fucking march by the socialist workers party but what do I know? Imagine if people had practical, sensible reasons for wanting you to give it a fucking rest for a couple of days? As well as some compassion but I see that doesn’t extend to British Jews.

I’m not even going to start on the antisemitism as it’s rife in these discussions and the wide eyed denial of it is sickening.

They won't listen.

Bananadramaa · 04/10/2025 17:02

Sounds like you definitely didn't. There was no Jewish military presence in Gaza since 2005. Israel was supplying Gaza with electricity and water and other humanitarian aid. They could have continued to have what you seem to think they wanted - their own land without Israel's presence. But what they actually want is to eradicate Jews from the face of the earth, so they started a war.

It's the opposition of ignorance. It's called knowing things. Knowing facts that are in the historical record, enshrined in treaties and legislation. You think I'm making this up? You think Israel have been occupying Gaza all these years? Crazy.

quantumbutterfly · 04/10/2025 17:07

Absolutely agree. There are thousands dying in Sudan as well, in a vicious civil war and women being gang-raped on an industrial scale. No-one marching for that. Nor for the Christians being murdered in Nigeria (wrong religious people killing them) or the Druze in Syria (wrong killers again).

This

It's factually true. Why do you think there was an occupation in Gaza after Israel withdrew? In 2005 Israel handed Gaza to the Palestinian Authority (who were shortly afterwards ousted by Hamas.) This is all on record.

DrPrunesqualer · 04/10/2025 17:10

dairydebris · 04/10/2025 17:01

Bingo!

This isn’t a game dairy
and no @wrongthinker supporting the Peace cause is nothing like supporting Nazis. What an appalling an unverifiable comparison

As it stands there’s a deal on the table and Trump has asked Israel to stop bombing. They haven’t ! So atm it’s Israel that are continuing the war

Its disgusting the way some people have no empathy and lack the ability to think of anyone other than themselves
Im so happy other countries are able to speak out without putting up with all this derailing and inflammatory nonsense.

Well you don’t think that if you think it’s Israel’s land so I assume this is where you are coming from. The international community of course thinks otherwise and that it is an illegal occupation. You know this.

Icreatedausernameyippee · 04/10/2025 17:08

I mean, I wouldn't be happy. Would you?

Definitely wouldn't be happy if someone was campaigning for a terrorist cause on the basis of some drawings they found on facebook, no.

But - and seriously, please ask yourself this - if you're arguing that Palestinians are reacting to the occupation of their country (which they're not, because it wasn't occupied, but whatever, let's go with it for the sake of the discussion) does that mean it's okay for them to rape and behead and maim and mutilate innocent young people at a music festival, to rip babies limb from limb, to rape women and drag them through the dirt to be raped by all their friends, and then ring their mums and tell them what they've done so everyone can cry with pride? Would you do these things if you felt very oppressed? Do you think that's a reasonable response to being oppressed or having your country occupied? Because it sounds like that's what you're saying here.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 04/10/2025 17:14

wrongthinker · 04/10/2025 16:51

Exactly.

It really does make me wonder how people get into this position where they are taking the side of terrorists and even when faced with indisputable evidence are unable to step down from their stance.

I guess it's like Nazi supporters in WW2. They justify it to themselves and to one another, as it continues to escalate. And the more it escalates, the more they justify it to themselves, and so on. The psychology is actually fascinating.

I can only guess they are sucked in by the lie that a particular side is the morally correct one and the intellectual one. They are given soundbites about a snap shot in history and “won’t someone think of the children in Gaza” as some kind of prepackaged “we’re on the right side of history” cosplay that. Means they don’t have to actually think.

DrPrunesqualer · 04/10/2025 17:14

HaimishaPickle · 04/10/2025 17:06

Without doing so our Governments and Governments around the world would think we agree with genocide

Our voices are crucial and we have a right to them.

And it’s almost the second anniversary of those horrors.

On top of the attack on Thursday.

And yet people insist on their ‘right to protest’.

No empathy and no shame. And no heart.
