In the wake of the tragic events that took place in Manchester, I want to implore people not to lose steam or, more importantly, hope.

Gaza is still facing destruction, famine and genocide.

We need to continue to peacefully pressure our government to take action and sanction the Israeli government and to educate and inform people about the horrors faced by the Palestinian people day in and day out for the last two years.

People who opposed the liberation of Palestine want for this to be a turning point. For people to point the finger at a movement that wants to see the end of the suffering of millions and label it as inciting hate.

It's not.
And it's important.

Please don't put down your passion for Gaza.

It’s not what I said. Israel has more blood on their hands because they are stronger military wise and have the opportunity have by their army planted on Palestinian land. Nothing I said was supportive of terrorism so let’s not make things up to suit your narrative.

I don't need to make anything up when your own words are right there, no amount of rewriting and redefining your meaning can change that, people can make their own minds up.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 04/10/2025 14:34

I’m sorry, but have you heard how these marches and protests make Jews feel? Jewish children frightened and intimidated.

Are you joining similar protests for the many more killed in Ukraine? What about Sudan? myrama? Or any other the other 21 Wars going on round the world now. Surely the threat to Europe that the Russia:Ukraine war poses (inc a threat to the UK) would make this a far more relevant war to protest for peace. Which day is that protest being held? Or are you only interested in protests against the Jewish state? If you’re concerned about people being displaced from their homes, I’m sure that those in southern Cyprus would be interested in your thoughts about the invasion there far more recently by an Islamic country. Again, part of the Europe so that is probably more relevant to you surely? Or is the lack of Jews there and an Islam country being the one you would be protesting about an issue.

its painful to watch so many clearly easily manipulated people drinking on honestly thinking they have the moral and intellectual high ground in this. It’s laughable how they don’t realise they have been manipulated by Hamas and their supporters to such an extent they don’t realise what they are doing. I suspect, without the placard waving support of Hamas in the west this war would have been over far far quicker, I highly suspect the support has buoyed Hamas into digging in their heels and ensuring more deaths because that seems to trigger the western soliders to keep going. Waving placards has probably caused many more deaths of children.

At some point, these people will have to have a reckoning with themselves. But to be honest, if it hasn't happened after the terror attack in Manchester, maybe they are a lost cause.

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/10/2025 14:49

wrongthinker · 04/10/2025 14:44

No. Are you serious? Keep going out and waving your terror flags and supporting the Hamas death cult. Keep going out and yelling anti-semitic slogans and death threats? In the wake of an abhorrent anti-Jewish attack and murder?

What the actual fuck is wrong with you people.

The attack in Manchester yesterday was abhorrent. I personally believe marches should have been postponed.
Do you agree that the murder of thousands of innocent children in Gaza is equally abhorrent?

Can you spell out clearly for me what I said which you feel is supportive of terrorism please? I’d like to call you out on what you are saying as it’s pretty serious to call someone a terrorist supporter.

My personal passion for Gaza has been about 15 years strong.

OP, this sentence of yours stood out to me and really crystallises why I’m so uncomfortable with the pro Palestine protests in the UK.

You speak almost as though Gaza is a favourite band or hobby of yours. Why are you so ‘passionate’ about Gaza but not the suffering of people in Sudan or Yemen or countless other places?

Yes, I get that one individual can’t protest against every injustice in the world. I’m not expecting you to.

But please reflect on why you (and so many like you) have selected Gaza as their cause to be passionate about. And why it is considered reasonable to call for the destruction of Israel in a way that is not contemplated in regard to any other country.

I've detailed my own personal reasons. I cannot speak for everyone else.

OP why do you have "a passion for Gaza" as opposed to a passion for Xinjiang or South Yemen or South Sudan?

And could you and your fellow passionate advocates for Gaza not have reined in the passion for just a few days, to allow our Jewish communities to grieve and remember and commemorate this savage antisemitic attack on Yom Kippur? Could you not even done that, rather than continuing to show everyone how virtuous you are?

DrPrunesqualer · 04/10/2025 14:52

hehehesorry · 04/10/2025 14:42

Ew, no. I support the side where women have their freedoms, homosexuality doesn't have to be kept under wraps and the side where I'd feel safe walking around their country. Palestine is backwards, other muslim countries won't touch them outside of using them as a proxy in their holy war.

The protests are in support of stopping the Gaza war

Your post suggests you support the murder and genocide of all those in Gaza just because you don’t agree with their beliefs ??

Wow
Im glad most people don’t have such moral superiority

Wtf? Why are you asking me to make a moral equivalency? Are you saying that it's fine to kill Jews in a peaceful country because Muslims are being killed in a war somewhere else? Surely not.

Now is the time to recognise that your anti-Israel campaign has real consequences. Terrorists are emboldened. People are murdered. A very real fascistic terror squad wants to exterminate all Jews throughout the world. And you are going out with your placards and cheering them on.

Call the poster out because Mumsnet aren’t deleting the personal attacks and Islamophobia on this thread

Im shocked by some truly disgusting posts on this and the last thread on the marches.

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/10/2025 14:57

I don’t go anywhere with placards, incidentally, because I don’t want my sympathy for the innocent civilians of Gaza to be confused for support of Hamas.

BeNattyKoala · 04/10/2025 13:37

Yet over half these Palestinians support baby raping Hamas and "zionists" which you spit out with vemon are just Jewish people wanting to live in Israel without being slaughtered by hostile states around them

Baby raping? I think you’re going a bit too far with the rhetoric now.

Do you agree that Hamas using children as human shields while their leaders hide in tunnels is wrong? Do you agree that the barbaric attacks on Jews that started this war was wrong?

Or are you just parroting that one line because you really haven't thought about this beyond the Hamas propaganda?

Are you rolling out your GCSE English analysing skills. I am not sure if it occured to you that two things can be true at the same time (indefensible attack and the fact that a genocide is ongoing). Some people seem to conflate the two issues. What do you think about the protects? should the happen or not and if not, why not?.

There is no genocide. The marches are pro-terror demonstrations by clowns and should never have been allowed to carry on as they have been. They should not have been allowed to carry on as they have been because they are pro-terror, pro-Hamas, and antisemitic.

Yes I agree with you. I believe both Governments in this conflict are equally reprehensible and I’m at a loss as to how the world has stood by and let it happen.

I guess you didn't actually see any of Hamas' footage of their proudest moments on October 7th then.

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/10/2025 15:01

And I’m hardly “parroting”. As a dispassionate, atheist adult observer I’m able to reach my own opinion.

I wish religion had never been constructed.

ilod · 04/10/2025 15:03

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/10/2025 14:11

You are suggesting that every Palestinian civilian supports Hamas? That’s clearly nonsense.
We have a Labour government in the UK. If you are in the UK, that must mean you support and voted for Labour.
Though of course you weren’t at risk of life-threatening reprisal if it were subsequently discovered that you didn’t.

Palestinian support for Hamas has actually increased since October 7th, which is frankly disgusting.

Yes I agree with you. I believe both Governments in this conflict are equally reprehensible and I’m at a loss as to how the world has stood by and let it happen.

But they're not equally reprehensible. One side started a war. The other side has been castigated for defending itself in that war.

That's like saying the Allies were just as bad as the Nazis in WW2. Yes, the Allies did some awful things (Dresden is probably the most famous example) but that doesn't make us as bad as the Nazis. If we transposed this situation to today, people would be saying, Oh the poor Nazis, they're so oppressed, the Allies are trying to destroy them and that's terrible! We should just let Hitler do what he wants, he's not harming anyone really...

I pity the Hamas Comms department. They record their most successful terror session and then all the supporters keep insisting it didn’t happen. It must be so frustrating.

Again, an 18 month old report. Many mainstream reports from correspondents with decades experience in the region suggest that right now, Hamas is receiving less and less support from the broken civilians. Some, incredibly bravely, expressing their opposition on camera to BBC “trusted correspondents” inside the strip.
