Fucking Gross Adverts

BlueEyedBogWitch · 21/09/2025 07:47

It started with little kids on the toilet with their pants round their ankles, holding their noses.

Then there was the one with a woman farting at work and then scurrying to the bathroom clutching a bog roll.

I think I reached the nadir last night when I was subjected to an advert for razors which treated me to the sight of a man bending down with his back to the camera and his hand under his dressing gown, shaving his sack and crack.

I mean, that might not be the nadir. Maybe next time they’ll drop the dressing down, and I can feast my eyes on his arsehole winking at me while it gets a short back and sides.

At this rate I’ll have to clear all the crap off my kitchen table and start eating like a civilised human again.

AIBU, or are adverts getting increasingly foul?

Thought it was just me - ads used to be humorous- now I just flip to my phone during them - muting is a fav idea because if I hear domino oh hoo again I might just break the tv!! I don’t know if the shock value of the gross ads is to get people to look / talk about them but for certain the talent pool in advertising must have shrunk significantly because I can’t remember the last as I watched that made me think “ ohh that’s clever/ funny/ sweet/ entertaining “ ( possibly the haribo kiddy voices?)

I like the haribo ones, they make me laugh particularly the police officers in the car, maybe being married to a retired police officer makes this extra funny to me as I can imagine him and his old partner in the car. Probably best not to tell them.

The one that gets me is the daughter who has bought Cadbury whole nut chocolate for her dad since she was a little girl and he is clearly suffering from dementia, doesn't recognise her and tells her he never liked nuts. Then he says it makes her so happy and she agrees. I find that one touching.

I also like the one with the tortoise zipping around, think it is a train advert.

Because most women really don't want or need to see this on tv. Emptying the bowels is performed by 99.9% of the population so are you saying that's something you want to see on tv ?

The ads I’ve seen are just demonstrating how much liquid can be absorbed by the pad. I don’t see what’s wrong with that. Did you also object when the liquid shown was blue, as it used to be?

There's no need for that or anything similar to be demonstrated with loo roll.

How is it undignified to discuss periods? Is it undignified to discuss migraines, or a bad back?

I'm glad the world has moved on - for some of us.

Frankly, not undignified but unnecessary yes. I genuinely don't want to hear details about other people's physical ailments. I can be sympathetic and accommodating without graphic detail.

ThisMellowCat · 21/09/2025 09:31

This! It annoys me so much how revealing these adverts are, especially around tea time when you’re just about to eat or have just eaten. Why do we need to know everything about the human body and what/ how they use items. Shavers, tampons, pee pants. It’s not needed!

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 21/09/2025 09:33

YANBU.

However I disagree with the period ones. We bleed blood not some blue liquid they used to put on the pads to show how absorbent they are. They needed to change and I’m glad the way have so my DD14 isn’t ashamed of what happens each month.

I hate the Lynx one (the one where people are literally glued together smelling each other) and the KFC one is awful too. Haven’t seen the razor one I’m glad to say!

cinnamonbunlover · 21/09/2025 09:36

BlueEyedBogWitch · 21/09/2025 07:54

I think that might be where it started. Remember “Get it up there, girls!” ?

The boundaries are getting pushed further and further, to the point where they’re knocking me sick now.

Was this the “not just the tip…” I found that awfully crude. And yes I think that’s where it started

even the pepto bismol one gets me and the Andrex one with the the kid pulling his finger and going to the toilet. 🤢

lazyarse123 · 21/09/2025 09:36

I hate the pepto bismol one and especially hate the chewing gum faces they make me feel sick. The one I really detest is not even grim it's that woman singing/screaming while some actress swans around asking "what would you do for love?" I always yell at the tv that I wouldn't scream like that.

DramaLlamacchiato · 21/09/2025 09:38

Bastilee · 21/09/2025 08:34

It’s the kid farting at school and crop dusting his way to the toilet with a big roll in his hand that’s makes me feel gross

Yes! Grim. Makes me think of Will in the Inbetweeners shitting himself

HRTlibido · 21/09/2025 09:38

There's a toilet roll ad on the TV which shows a kid walking to the toilet to have a shit while the whole school gives him a standing ovation. I find it bizarre and gross. Most sanpro ads also have a tendency to be quite cringe as well. I can't think of any that weren't.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 21/09/2025 09:04

Yes this. I absolutely cannot bear adverts. They feel like a massive intrusion of noise and annoyance into my life. So I pay extra for YouTube premium and Spotify premium. Bliss.
Also agree they are too out there and disgusting but to be honest thats just one of the many reasons why I hate them.
Apart from the really funny ones but sadly nowadays theyre few and far between. Everything is so contrived nowadays.

Why are people inflicting ads on themselves then complaining about them?

Bizarre behaviour. Mute buttons exist on remotes.

Arrrrrrragghhh · 21/09/2025 09:40

Orangepate · 21/09/2025 08:21

Nothing is taboo these days. I hate these adverts too, especially the mouth in the forehead.
I suppose the point is that everybody farts, some more than others, should we be quite so ashamed of it? My Aunt has had chronic constipation all her life, because she was too embarrassed to use the toilet at her work in the 1960’s, held it in all day.
Having said that, every work toilet I have ever used has had loo roll in it… the idea of walking through the office cradling your own roll is a different type of cringe from just taking a shit at work..
Also, l loved the Andrex puppy, ( that creepy koala though.. ugh!)

I doubt that’s why she was constipated. I’ve never had a poo at work either because I have a poo first thing and one in the evening. 99% of the loo useage is for a quick wee or change your tampon/towel. I hate going into a smelly loo at work.

Waitfortheguinness · 21/09/2025 09:10

Like the period ones, when are we going to get the nappies being shown full of piccalilli or bog rolls being used with lovely brown skids etc…can’t wait.
we all know what they look like when used, but don’t have to have the reality of it all being thrust in our faces at whatever time of day….including tea, dinner time. Sick of it too.

I think there has been a nappy one with Nutella!

The pampers one with the poo emoji is bad enough. We all know what goes in nappies ffs!

user043857398 · 21/09/2025 09:41

Orangepate · 21/09/2025 08:26

To be fair, the adverts pay for the programmes, I’m not saying that I’m up my arse enough to say you should watch them for that reason, but you should at least be aware that nothing costs nothing.

Well I will happily ignore them safe in the knowledge that there are altruistic folks out there enduring their awful noise pollution for the greater good.

eggman007 · 21/09/2025 09:43

It's that hotel advert with the sweaty, snoring lady that gets me.

I find the Pepto Bismol advert strangely uplifting though.

AntiBullshit · 21/09/2025 09:44

Those ad are up their with the whole body deodorant and people sniffing each other crotches but never will ever be as bad as Tampax Gotta get it up there girls

Joyunlimited · 21/09/2025 09:44

That made me think about the scene in Slumdog Millionaire where the boy has to dive through the pit full of shit and gets covered. I read that they filmed it by coating the child actor in a mixture of chocolate and peanut butter but had to keep telling him to stop licking it…

cinnamonbunlover · 21/09/2025 09:45

I don’t mind the tena or the period products in general when they are not turned into ka a quiz or chat show but one tena add shows a attractive post partum mother in a tiny pair of “lace panties” with as tena lady and it’s just too much 😵‍💫

SolarVie · 21/09/2025 09:46

Adverts are how these big conglomorates get their off shore accounts filled and we have people being paid well over £100kpa for the shock factor of making them. It's click bait for TV and trying to sell you things you don't need. I avoid by watching BBC iplayer and going to the loo/making a tea when they come on anything else. They're timed to enable a kettle to boil for a reason.

Lazygardener · 21/09/2025 09:49

Not really gross, but the Dominos one where the actor sings the word is like nails on a blackboard. I always rush to mute it.

ChanelBoucle · 21/09/2025 09:49

Orangepate · 21/09/2025 08:24

The dancing Pepso Bismol people. “Diarrhoea!”

Oh I quite like that one 😆
The others mentioned here are pretty awful though.

Sahara123 · 21/09/2025 09:49

Slightly off topic but I really hate the advert where a mum picks her son up from school and is told he has been misbehaving. Unless I’m misunderstanding it they then go home and giggle about it ?
If so is it any wonder teachers are having trouble with children’s behaviour.

Bonjovispyjamas · 21/09/2025 09:50

I can't stand the Sun life naturist advert. I know it's just naked bodies and you obviously don't see any private parts, but I don't want to see it.

Dorb · 21/09/2025 09:50

Blinkingbother · 21/09/2025 08:52

Personally I can’t stand the Dominos pizza one - couple sharing a bath and the delivery guy comes up out of the water to join them?….its grim and I can’t imagine it makes anyone want to order a takeaway! Bleurghh.

Agreed - it actually turns my stomach!

ThanksForAllTheFish · 21/09/2025 09:51

Orangepate · 21/09/2025 08:24

The dancing Pepso Bismol people. “Diarrhoea!”

I find that advert quite funny. It’s not really gross as they are just dancing and the way the song ‘Diarrhoea’ does its job as the song sticks in your head.

Mumof2amazingasdkiddos · 21/09/2025 09:51

Thank you @BlueEyedBogWitch I have been debating whether its worth paying the extra to go ad free or to just spend a few minutes watching ads and save the money towards something else, I'm off to renew my subscription to remain ad free!!
