Always been fascinated by tea and kind of like the good quality ones but has never been a habit for me. I have recently decided to stop drinking coffee for various reasons and incorporate more tea onto my life. I like black tea and green tea, not a big fan of the fruity infusions. What are the best brands? Do you usually drink it loose or in a bag? Teapot or straight into the mug? Milk? How many cups a day do you drink?
Curious and fascinated by the tea topic that’s all :)

I’m a Yorkshire tea drinker. Have done both tea bags and tea leaves in my time but back on the tea bags. When in holiday in the West Country get Dorset Tea and Miles Cornish Tea.

I drink it black.

Probably have 4-5 mugs a day, though I never finish a mug.

Zanatdy · 18/09/2025 22:38

Tetley, or PG tips. Splash of milk, made in cup. No sugar.

SkaneTos · 18/09/2025 22:40

I drink coffee in the morning, and coffee in the evening, but everyday around 3 in the afternoon I drink tea. I drink black tea without milk, and without sugar.
Different kinds of black tea, depending on what I have at home. Loose tea in an infuser, straight into the mug.

emmetgirl · 18/09/2025 22:42

I’ve never drunk tea. I hate it. The smell of it makes me heave 🤢
The British obsession with it is a complete mystery to me.

DinoLil · 18/09/2025 22:42

No hot drinks here so can't comment. Interested in reading replies though!

I drink earl grey with milk, no sugar. Use my favourite big disney mug every time when I'm at home. Probably drink 6 cups a day when I'm wfh all day, and one of those is usually in the evening with the kids on bed. Don't drink alcohol or coffee... i ❤ my tea! Drinking a waiteose own brand one atm.

Jollyjoy · 18/09/2025 22:43

Clipper organic are my favourite tea bags, I enjoy loose leaf when I am offered it though. I probably drink 4-6 cups a day. I need to cut down.

afaloren · 18/09/2025 22:43

Yorkshire decaf, made in the mug, quite milky, one sugar. Don’t have one every day if I’m at home but I drink it at work and other people’s houses!

Wtafdidido · 18/09/2025 22:45

I have cut back to one cup of coffee per day so drinking more tea. I’m Irish so we are raised on tea from infancy! Always a metal teapot. Boil kettle and fill teapot to warm it. Boil kettle again. Drain teapot and add tea or teabags. We like Barry’s! Pour in boiling water just as kettle clicks off. Pour slowly and from a height. Put tea on hob and let it come back to the boil. Turn off hi. And let it steep for a few minutes. Yea is ready. Add milk to big hefty mugs and pour I. Tea - again from a height and enjoy! Pot tea is always the best!

As a child I always loved the smell of tea but hated the taste. Didn’t become a tea drinker until my late 30s.

Wherestheteenguide · 18/09/2025 22:45

One before breakfast. English breakfast tea - Strong, bit of milk, no sugar. Another around 4pm usually earl grey. Then a herbal tea before bed. I'm a creature of habit!

BlueWorkDay · 18/09/2025 22:46

I like a cup of tea, but probably only have a couple of cups a month.

Because I only drink it infrequently we often have "naice" tea like Fortnum and Mason or Marriage Freres.

I usually take it with a splash of milk, no sugar, but sometimes black.

I ALWAYS have a cup of tea when I eat baked beans.

I drink 2-3 coffees a day.

paddyclampster · 18/09/2025 22:46

Proper strong northern tea! Mashed well with only a bit of milk!

HappyHedgehog247 · 18/09/2025 22:46

Breakfast tea in the morning, earl grey in the afternoon and then rooibos in the evening!

Ddakji · 18/09/2025 22:46

Mugs - Gisela Grantham mugs, I’ve got about 4 of them. Perfect shape and size.

NinaGeiger · 18/09/2025 22:47

I love tea. I went to India for a wedding and tried Masala chai tea which I absolutely loved - they boil the milk, tea leaves, water and spices and sugar in a saucepan and serve it in a little metal cup and it has a slight skin on from the milk being boiled, like rice pudding.

I haven't made it the proper way in a saucepan since having babies but I usually have a mug of tea with a chai teabag with the spices in (eg Twinings Spicy Chai). So good.
Sometimes I have earl grey or lady grey (like Earl but more citrusy).

Hollowvoice · 18/09/2025 22:57

I have 2 or 3 mugs of tea every day.
Assam tea bags, splash of milk, made in the mug and left to brew for a good few minutes.

Didimum · 18/09/2025 23:02

Coffee first thing, before breakfast, then 2-3 teas throughout the day. Yorkshire Gold, milk, no sugar. Tea and toast is my #1 comfort food.

imbolic · 18/09/2025 23:11

Miles's tea - ordinary loose leaf - made in a teapot. I like it weak with whole milk. I usually have 2 half pint mugs 3 times a day. Don't like coffee.

DiscoBob · 18/09/2025 23:14

I like twining English breakfast when I wake up, a bit of milk and two sugars.
Then throughout the day I drink peppermint or fennel and ginger tea. I put two bags in and then just keep topping it up with hot water.

MardyAnn · 18/09/2025 23:17

Yorkshire teabags, 3/4 bags in a teapot depending on how many people are having one, always warm the pot and just a little bit of milk.

AlPaccacino · 18/09/2025 23:18

I have just spent too much money on Bird & Blend tea, and a gravity brewer. I also have 2 small infuser tea pots ( one at work) and a pile of fillable tea bags. Black, green, white, oolong, Yerba maté, chai, with all the the lovely flavours. My current favourite is a coconut milk oolong. And I have the advent calendar waiting for December.

Elephantsarenottheonlyfruit · 18/09/2025 23:20

Taylor’s of Harrogate Loose leaf earl grey tea before 10am. Then Fortnum’s “Fortmason” tea until the evening. Then Marks and Spencer’s Empress Grey after dinner.
I always carry tea with me when I’m out of the house : tea bags and my contigo travel mug.

AAudreyHorne · 18/09/2025 23:21

Earl grey, 1 sugar, tiny splash of milk, made in the mug, teabag and sugar in first, then just clicked off boiling water, leave it to brew for 5 mins, add milk.
I probably drink between 8 - 10 cups a day.

Cynic17 · 18/09/2025 23:22

I never drink "regular" tea, because it tastes revolting.
I do like peppermint tea, especially after a big meal.
