Always been fascinated by tea and kind of like the good quality ones but has never been a habit for me. I have recently decided to stop drinking coffee for various reasons and incorporate more tea onto my life. I like black tea and green tea, not a big fan of the fruity infusions. What are the best brands? Do you usually drink it loose or in a bag? Teapot or straight into the mug? Milk? How many cups a day do you drink?
Curious and fascinated by the tea topic that’s all :)

Recently had health scare so cutting out my caffeine.. was drinking 6 + strong coffees a day. Still have 1 coffee first thing but switched to fruit teas throughout the day after having a sample box of twinnings. Never liked herbal teas before but complete convert. Try a sample.box and see which ones you like x

Yorkshire tea 7am x 2, then 11am, 1pm, 3/4pm with milk, no sugar. Couldn’t live without it.

i was diagnosed with ocular hypertension a few years back so cut out caffeine to reduce the pressure. It worked. I drink any old decaf tea … supermarket own brands. But I also have a tin of Fortnum and Mason Decaf Earl Grey & Royal Blend. They’re individually wrapped so I always have a couple in my handbag for when I’m at a friends house or a food place that doesn’t have decaf tea. I probably drink at least four a day. With milk.

I was in Notts city centre yesterday, which I’ve never been to before and I passed a Bird and Blend shop so I HAD to go in after all the recommendations I have read on this thread. Verdict: ‘Great British Cuppa’ teabags are delicious and I’m going to keep them for a special treat given the cost!. Also the shop was lovely for a browse too and the staff were very friendly.

I drink PG Tips. All day every day. Splash of milk, no sugar. I don’t like loose leaf tea or Yorkshire tea as they’re a tad too bitter for me.

The only herbal varieties I’ve enjoyed are peppermint or licorice. If available I have one of those after a meal in a nice restaurant because I get FOMO when others are having posh coffees and I don’t like coffee.

That's my local Bird & Blend. The staff are all terrible - not only did they make me buy a brewdini when I just wanted a tea pot but they rob me of loads of money every time I go on by giving me lots of delicious tea to sample 😳

Not read all comments, but way over ten years ago, I drank normal builders brew, whichever brand had the best offer on when needed.. with the smallest dash of milk.

I’ve not drank milk in over ten years now, so I turned to the fruit teas, and added, after it had cooled, some raw honey.

However for the past two years (partly coz of microplastics in teabags) I decided to try pouring boiling water over a few mint leaves from the garden, and oh my gosh… so lovely and comforting…. I sometimes chew on the mint leaves after I’ve drunk the infusion.
since then, I’ve experimented (and loved) other herbs from my garden too, such as
Thyme
Rosemary
Lemon Balm
Sage
Bay Leaf (Laurel)
Basil
Ginger (fresh)
Each of the above claim to give you various benefits.
Eg, if I get a rare cold, I drink Thyme tea, and it helps my airways, especially if I use a wide mouth mug, which enables me to also breathe in the aroma.

I’ve yet to try fig leaf, and Turmeric “mylk”, which also have benefits.

On occasion, with the ginger, I add some Ceylon (TRUE) Cinnamon, and /or fresh lemon.

Have fun experimenting, and don’t be tempted to let your first ever sip influence you, it can take time to adjust.

Not a tea as such, but on an empty tum and/or twenty mins before a meal, you could try
2 Tblespns of ACV - Apple Cider Vinegar (with mother)
Quarter Teaspn Bicarb of Soda - Organic
stir into half a mug of cold water, then add boiling water to “drinking temperature”, then I stir in a small teaspoon of raw honey.
The Honey is optional
i lost a fair bit of weight when I started this, and combined with rebounding, I got quite fit in my early sixties.
ACV with mother can be purchase at Aldi or Lidl, and last time I bought it the price was £1.99 500ml.
I buy it since online in 5litre containers, as it works out cheaper that way.

I also use a dilution of ACV in the water to rinse/clean supermarket fruit and veg to remove any pesticides if it’s not organic.

I love to hear new ideas too, as it’s nice to have a variation, and a range of alternative health benefits.

I mostly drink Earl Grey (with milk, no sugar) but will happily drink builders tea if there's no Earl Grey on offer. I also like a Peppermint tea, especially in the evening before bed or if I'm feeling a bit bloated.

I love golden milk! I used to drink it at bedtime — I’d forgotten about it!
