I recently found a metal chastity cage (for a males anatomy) in my husbands cupboard. Obviously a bit of a shock.

For background - marriage isn't good, no sex for over 2 years, separate beds, talk of separating. Stayed together because of the kids tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if he was getting it elsewhere tbh. But a .... cage!? Wtf...

I wouldn't ask but I'd do some digging. I kept finding new sex toys in our house as well and almost gaslit myself into thinking maybe it had always been in my stbxhs collection but then I found out he was into lots of stuff he hadn't told me about, had been with men before etc and had been using increasingly extreme porn. Destroyed our marriage and my kids family as well. I'd get an sti test done on yourself as well just for the peace of mind even if you haven't been intimate recently. To me it would make me think he's using more kink driven porn or possibly is with other people. I'd want to know before bringing it up so he doesn't have the option to lie so you know where you stand especially if things aren't good between you. Is staying together definitely what's best for your kids if you're both so separate in the one house? You both deserve to be happy and your kids see you both happy and fulfilled even if that is separately.

That's so earth shattering. I've heard of this many times and feel these men are just so pathetic and weak that they have to play the role of husband/father but will inflict such devastation on their partners when they finally decide to be hoenst. Chances are he knew this but was too spineless to come out. It affects the offspring in a bad way too.

Well this is my thinking. I'm being a bit strategic here because I want to see if I find anything else.

In answer to your question - no I don't think being in the same house and being so separate is the best thing for the kids. Although we do not really argue terribly in front of them - we do not have a relationship with each other and he agrees that it is setting a bad example for the kids. They seem oblivious to any issues though. He is totally avoiding in discussing any issues, so I have told him we need to talk with a mediator present about how we separate. Which he has agreed to.
