Wear or sell the Rolex?

Ex bought me a Rolex many years ago. I never really wore it as it was a bit tight. I went in my bedroom today and thought I’d been robbed as all my valuables were missing. Turned out my dtd had found the stash and decided to play with everything. I was thinking I should probably either wear it or maybe sell it. I’ve lost a bit of weight but still a tiny bit tight.

I don’t wear a lot of jewellery just diamond studs generally. Don’t normally wear yellow metals. I put it on and I do like it but is it just too much for an every day watch? I’m generally to be found barefaced wearing jeans and jumpers.

So YANBU that watch needs a glamorous owner rather than someone who looks like they are heading out on a dog walk.

YABU it’s nice, wear it.

Wear it!

KpopDemon · 09/09/2025 18:58

Sell it, what on earth would you want a Rolex for?

TheCurious0range · 09/09/2025 18:59

Is it to your taste and if you sold it what would you do with the money? Which makes you more excited the right of wearing it or the thought of what you'd do with the money?
It's not really my style similarly I have a Fitbit! So I'd sell it

hattie43 · 09/09/2025 18:59

Wear it .

hattie43 · 09/09/2025 19:00

What size is it , 28mm or 31mm

mumofoneAloneandwell · 09/09/2025 19:01

Well

I'm not wealthy so i'd definitely sell

But if the money won't change your life, i'd keep it! It is super lovely 🥰

Why not wear it to run errands, life is too short to save things for a special occasion xx

Overtheatlantic · 09/09/2025 19:01

Sell it. Use the money to buy something more modern or for a holiday treat.

BMW6 · 09/09/2025 19:02

Sell it all if you don't usually wear it. What's the point in having it gathering dust and surely the extra insurance costs add up?

It does look snug, so probably not comfortable?, it’s as new isn’t so if you don’t wear it sell it. I understand that they hold their value.

BovrilonToast · 09/09/2025 19:03

It’s lovely, wear it!

bumbers1 · 09/09/2025 19:04

Wear it or keep it to pass down. They are only going up in value

Poobs2022 · 09/09/2025 19:04

I would wear it but then that's what I'm after as the two tone would go with everything. I wear my Apple Watch mostly but I have a Tag and a Breitling for going out and wanting something smarter. Life is too short to never wear the nice things you have!

BurglarAndSwag · 09/09/2025 19:06

Very nice.
Bedroom, you say.
Where do you live?

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 09/09/2025 19:06

Looks tight, it'll annoy you. I'd sell.

They do come with extra links to adjust the size you know 🤔

EmeraldShamrock000 · 09/09/2025 19:09

If you're going to sell, make sure you sell it to a business, scamming is rampant for expensive purchases.
It's a lovely watch.

Tbh I don’t have plans for the money I suspect I wouldn’t get loads, maybe 2-3k as I haven’t been keeping up with servicing. It sprang into action though and is keeping time fine. I did used to have a brietling which as really plain stainless steel band, white face which is probably more me.

I don’t know if it’d be better to pass it down to one of the twins, the only other jewellery (since their Dad originally bought it) I have of comparable value would be diamond studs. So they could each get something?

Well OP has banged on about how it's tight, so apparently she doesn't have them.

smallsilvercloud · 09/09/2025 19:10

Order a spare link and wear it, Rolex dealer will help you fit it. I would wear it but If you really don’t want it, it’s a waste, so sell and benefit from the money.

BreadInCaptivity · 09/09/2025 19:11

For gods sake wear it if you like it.

I’m fortunate enough to have two Cartier watches (one bought for my 18th by parents and another by DH for a significant birthday).

I wear one of them every day.

There is no joy in saving things for “best”. If the fit isn’t great it won’t cost too much to address that (in relation to the value of the watch).

All that said if you don’t like it then sell it. TBH I’m not a massive Rolex fan re: women’s watches as they are just smaller versions of their men’s catalogue and I think they are a bit bulky.

You could (if you are not sentimental about it) trade it in for another high end watch more to your taste without it costing very much (or anything).

This is one of mine and similar in respect of metals but more delicate.

Wear or sell the Rolex?
Radiatorvalves · 09/09/2025 19:11

I’d wear it looks nice. I hope it’s not the same model as I once bought DH (for about £15 in Hong Kong). Looked good and worked for several years.

If you like it then wear it.
I wouldn’t get carried away with thoughts of selling it either, most women’s rolex like that aren’t great on the resale market.
Also you would need the box and papers, spare links etc to get a reasonable price for it.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 09/09/2025 19:12

Expensive watches bring unwanted attention, not that I could afford one. Thieves search Instagram and other sm sites for nice jewellery and watches.
