Fucking flags

1000 replies

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Blimey. Who left the door on the ignorant yet arrogant facist asylum unlocked this evening?

Come on. Own up.

It’s funny, but scratch an angry, bitter , hard of thinking racist. And out pops an angry, bitter , hard of thinking racist.

Who would guessed

Dymaxion · 09/09/2025 21:20

I find it kind of ironic that the vast majority of flags being flown in a 'patriotic' manner will have been produced in China, probably purchased from Amazon and delivered in a mercedes sprinter by someone of Eastern European heritage !

I am so sick and tired and bored rigid of you working yourselves into a frenzy about everything.

It’s a flag, it doesn’t have a different meaning - only the one you are persistently attaching to it. You were exactly the same about rainbows, trans, Brexit, the climate. This just the latest in a long line of bed wetting on the far left.

Edited

Are you always so naive?

A quick little internet search will tell you all you need to know about who is behind this recent “campaign”. It’s all over the news and social media. It’s no secret.

… what language was that post typed in?

That can easily be done with translation on the internet.

I just wondered why.

My parents live in Spain and they've learnt Spanish.

autumn1610 · 09/09/2025 21:21

its the sentiment behind the flags that’s the issue.

You have quite the nerve saying that people on the left are working themselves into a frenzy about EVERYTHING. You're the ones who have worked yourselves into such a frenzy that you go to great lengths to cover everything in flags like in some elaborate youtube prank. Hilarious.

Very patronising post. Many Reform voters are very rounded, educated individuals. If Reform get in then it’s because Starmer and the Tories have failed to listen to the majority.

I am sure there must be some Reform voters who are well educated, but it seems that they do a lot better amongst people with a lower level of education.

"Reform UK also did significantly better amongst those with a lower level of education receiving 23% of the vote amongst this group, compared to just 8% amongst those with a higher level of education."

So, you can’t see any racism when it comes to this current spate of whipped up flag flying?

Is that because you genuinely can’t see it or choose to turn a blind eye?

wldpwr · 09/09/2025 21:25

EasternStandard · 09/09/2025 20:59

I see, so at the football (or at home when it's on), I think people are still flying it in the same sort of numbers for that.

Yes, but now I won't, because I want nothing to do with Tommy Robinson.

(Just popped out and all the flags on my street have been taken down...!!)

You tell them the truth, that the country is regaining its pride and many of the people that fly the flags do so because they are looking to improve the country going forward.

If they are older you could tell them about the political parties here, and how the current government is failing us so badly, about our spiralling debt and the eye watering cost of borrowing that is likely to cause an economic recession, and naturally many people want something much better.

Petitchat · 09/09/2025 21:26

Donttellempike · 09/09/2025 21:09

Have you any idea how offensive you are being? How dare you try to police what language people speak.

Disgusting

Another trouble causer.

I asked nicely why she isn't speaking English to her children.
They need to learn to live here, educate here, make friends here.

Stop shit stirring...

If your culture is so fragile that it can't exist alongside other cultures, that's a you problem, not a them problem. No one can take your culture away from you and another living alongside it takes nothing away from yours.

Seriously I despair, catch yourself on!

Why would you not? Language is the voice of your culture, the voice of your people. Why would you want to lose that just because you moved? Language is also one of the first things authoritarians (and colonists) try to control or stamp out, and for good reason - stamp out the language and you deprive people of inmate communication built up over centuries, their voice and their power. One language isn't and can never be a direct replacement for another. Those who are bilingual and multilingual have such a gift, and it's absolutely important to emphasize the mother tongue if you're living outside that culture if you want your children to remain fluent. Why on earth would anyone begrudge that?

Bunnycute23 · 09/09/2025 21:26

Don't want to derail. But I've got a great little range of tin foil hats available currently. For the discerning facist. They're decorated with both union flags and the George's cross. Because very few people seem to know the difference. Just £2.99 a pop. Three sizes available: pet, idiot or big-headed idiot. No vaccines, chem trails or intelligence involved in the manufacture. DM for details.

LegoPicnic · 09/09/2025 21:27

Petitchat · 09/09/2025 21:03

If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you talking to your children in English, if you live in England?
You could learn English if you don't know it.

Perhaps she is bringing her children up to be bilingual? One parent, one language is commonly acknowledged to be the best way of doing that I believe?

Why would you think the poster doesn’t speak English?

There is nothing about spray painting wonky red lines on anything white, that is improving our country.

Your parents are migrants. Couldn’t write it.

She’s likely bilingual.

For example… One of my colleagues was born here, his grandad migrated here from Pakistan. He speaks English and Urdu, his wife speaks English and Punjabi. Their 3 year old speaks all three. Clever, when you think about it.

He speaks to his own family in whatever langue he pleases, and speaks to us in English. Fair enough, I don’t speak Urdu, and nobody’s asking to. How he communicates with his own wife and child isn’t any of my business.
