Fucking flags

1000 replies

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you talking to your children in English, if you live in England?
You could learn English if you don't know it.

… what language was that post typed in?

Easipeelerie · 09/09/2025 21:07

Nestingbirds · 09/09/2025 20:59

Because it is not remotely racist.

You absolutely know that is not true.

rockstarshoes · 09/09/2025 21:07

healthyteeth · 09/09/2025 21:01

The flag shaggers would do well to remind themselves why we still celebrate VE Day.

A day in which we were victorious over fascism.

I actually took my VE Day bunting down at the Bank Holiday weekend so that no one thought I was part of this madness!

Nestingbirds · 09/09/2025 21:07

I really think these threads are not really operating inside of the U.K. this is not the sentiment at all here.

I wonder who might want to cause more division and harm here, let me think 🤔

RufustheFactualReindeer · 09/09/2025 21:08

then be my guest, if you want to screech racist every time someone flies a flag, be my guest

where has this happened

my understanding is that posters believe that some people, who appear to have recently discovered their patriotism, are defacing public property and attaching flags to lamp posts for racist reasons

not everyone who flies a flag

Have you any idea how offensive you are being? How dare you try to police what language people speak.

Disgusting

That is some paranoia.

autumngirl714 · 09/09/2025 21:09

People in my area have taken to painting a red flag on anything white, mainly road markings/roundabouts about.

I know what country I’m in thanks, I don’t need reminding of it when I’m turning into Morrisons .

twinmum2007 · 09/09/2025 21:09

I just wish they'd put them in more accessible places apart from lampposts I'm too unfit to shin up. I want one yo take yo the rugby. 🤣🤣

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 21:09

If anyone is interested, I’ve just seen a post from the musician Billy Bragg on Facebook who is offering to send out stickers to those who send a stamped addressed envelope in the post to him. The stickers have the flag on but also the words “No to hate - it’s our flag too”. Basically with the intention of sticking them up on lampposts that are flying the flag.

He rightly points out that since the people who are hanging them claim there is no ill intent or desire to divide/intimidate then they shouldn’t have a problem with these stickers being stuck up too.

Not sure if I agree with the sentiment as it’s still more crap for the council to ultimately clean off public signage and lampposts but it’s a good idea to counteract the racism in principle. Check out his Facebook page if you are interested.

No, there was a war fought against true fascists, who wanted to obliterate, murder, annihilate a race of people. This constant comparison to today's pride in one's country is ridiculous.

It didn't start with obliteration and murder.

It started with making them feeling unwelcome. Then discrimination - boycotting their businesses, banning them from working, creating a hostile environment to encourage them to go home, vandalising their businesses.

That's where we're at now.

What happens next?

No one wants to attach a darker meaning to this and no one is frothing. You know full well that there really is a darker meaning to this.
No amount of going on about Lefties will make the truth any less true.

You can’t force people to be doctors if they don’t want to be. The top career choices in British children are influencer and footballer. I don’t somehow think those people are going to make it through a medicine degree.

What a ridiculous comment.

Easipeelerie · 09/09/2025 20:56

As you’ve already been told here, multiple times, no one objects to the flag. People like it in its place. What they don’t like is this flag fad which has racist overtones.

Only because people like you are giving it racist overtones and scaremongering.

Just pack it in.

rockstarshoes · 09/09/2025 21:11

There are actually a lot of protocols around flying flags!
They aren’t supposed to be flown if they are dirty or torn.

The irony that all these people sticking them to lamp posts don’t seem to realise that they are actually disrespecting the flag by not following the protocols 🤷‍♀️

It is very telling that this is your response to a poster whose child is being made to feel afraid.

Oooooh, I love a flag thread! Problem is, it’s just a bit repetitive, and the posts can get a bit ugly between the warring factions. I absolutely love seeing the flag being displayed. I love my country. If people have a problem with that, then it comes under the heading ‘too bad’. I see lots of things on a daily basis that I don’t like, or don’t agree with 🤷‍♀️

Do you not see the racism?

Or do you see it and think: ‘too bad’.

Nestingbirds · 09/09/2025 21:16

I am so sick and tired and bored rigid of you working yourselves into a frenzy about everything.

It’s a flag, it doesn’t have a different meaning - only the one you are persistently attaching to it. You were exactly the same about rainbows, trans, Brexit, the climate. This just the latest in a long line of bed wetting on the far left.

Bloozie · 09/09/2025 21:16

Dude.

It's been organised and crowd-funded by ex-members of the EDL/current members of Britain First. They are raising money for flags and distributing them in boxes of one thousand, targeting towns with asylum hotels.

That's not 'racist overtones'. Nor is it scaremongering. It's not happening in the dark, it's not a secret or a conspiracy - check out Paul Golding and Andrew Saxon's social feeds. They are far right extremists and they are openly promoting their work.

We have to stop pretending that this is some sort of jolly national Jubilee event.

Were people in Germany in the 1930s so wilfully blind, I wonder...?

Wynter25 · 09/09/2025 15:07

Proud to be born in England. Makes me happy seeing them :) why shouldn't they be every here. Other countries have them up 🤷‍♀️

Yep, only in England are some people "terrified" of their flag.... they just need to grow up and stop trying to find something to be offended by every day.

HonestOpalHelper · 09/09/2025 21:17

EdithBond · 09/09/2025 20:21

The media has given Reform a platform. Even when they had no MPs. And they’ve been organising in communities. They’re targeting people online. It’s a deliberate strategy.

Most people couldn’t tell you what percentage of net immigration is people claiming asylum, which isn’t illegal or they’d be arrested. They think most immigrants arrive on small boats. Utter nonsense.

They think it’s the biggest problem facing the country. Because they’ve been told to think that. To look for scapegoats rather than challenge the real culprits. Same old story.

Anyone putting up flags or harassing people to make them feel uncomfortable and unsafe should be thoroughly ashamed. It’s embarrassingly, sickeningly vile and nasty. They should take full responsibility, whatever their political gripes.

But, if you have a proper, function immigration system, where ALL immigrants have been permitted, either by visa or approved asylum applications you puncture the core argument the right make and the scapegoat would be gone.

It would be in everyones interest to have a properly functioning system - no one would drown in the channel or be holed up in some crumby hotel, those arriving would be given the paperwork to get work, housing and settle in.

Gosh I love smug Scottish exceptionalism.

Oh we're not racist, no problem here, - unless you happen to be English
