Fucking flags

1000 replies

xmaspud3 · 09/09/2025 15:01

I know this has probably been done to death on here and there will be lots of threads about it already but I cant be bothered to trawl through the site for them so here I am.

I’m so irritated by the England flags popping up everywhere. There has been an influx put up in my area over the last week, it seems to be increasing by the day. I don’t hate the flag, but I hate the fact it is being used to send a clear message by racists. People aren’t doing it to be patriotic they are doing it to be hateful towards those that they don’t feel ‘belong’ in their country.

I don’t want to see all of these flags in my area. If people are entitled to put them up then why am I not entitled to go and cut the fuckers down? And don’t get me started on the spray painting of public roundabouts and road signage by people who allegedly love their country so much that they are vandalising it at the expense of public money.

If I see one more person give a ‘big well done to whoever has erected the flags on xyz street’ on Facebook I will explode. Does anyone else feel ragey over it?

Every country you go to , proudly has flags
Why not Britain
It's not racist to be proud to be British
Let people wave their flags if it makes them happy
Much better than waving their willies

Where was the last country you went to where the flag was spray painted on bins, roundabouts and level crossings, and daubed on mosques and chinese takeaways?

This isn't a proud movement. It's a fucking embarrassment.

Our flag is fine. The way it's being used is a disgrace and the oh-so-innocent 'I'm just a patriot' justifications for it are fucking embarrassing too.

Proud to be born in England. Makes me happy seeing them :) why shouldn't they be every here. Other countries have them up 🤷‍♀️

Genuinely interested, do you even like seeing the really shit wonky spray painted ones on roundabouts etc? Because I truly can't find anything to be proud of there.

DolphinOnASkateboard · 09/09/2025 16:32

Hard agree on basically everything. If people were putting them up because they're proud of their country or whatever, I honestly wouldn't have a problem. But we all know it's not that, it's a peformative "fuck you" to anyone they perceive as "foreign". I'm as English as anyone, my dad is a family history buff and has gone back about 300 years without finding a trace of anyone from further away than Birmingham, yet twats are popping up on Facebook saying "Its only offensive to are enemys, if you dont like it LEAVE". Don't you fucking dare question my patriotism, you knuckle-dragging, roundabout-vandalising tosser.

The most annoying thing is that one man with a bag of zipties and a pile of flags can make it look like it's a mass movement.

Except that’s also not true, is it? That particular individual wore a flag dress when the rules of the day were quite literally “students are free to wear national dress but no flags”. She broke the dress code rules, and was sent home. Simple as that. But don’t let the facts get in the way of your racism.

The English have no national dress. So what was she supposed to wear? Why is acceptable to include everyone except the English child?

Basically this.

Anyone not seeing the wider context of them suddenly springing up everywhere is either daft or being deliberately disingenuous.

The pheasants? What’s the matter with them?

Also. Imagine referring to yourself or others as a peasant. This isn’t Victorian Britain.

I travel abroad quite a bit for my job. Flags would be normal in most countries on government buildings, or businesses such as hotels, pubs etc. But that’s usually as far as it goes. It wouldn’t be normal to see them displayed on normal residential buildings, unless for an occasion.

BellyPork · 09/09/2025 16:35

I’m from Latvia and many town streets are lined with flags all year round. To celebrate independence we bake cakes in the shape and colours of flags. All sorts of salads and desserts arranged in colours of the flag with fruit and vegetables. Many part take in traditional costume throughout the year, national days etc. Flags on cars, flag car air fresheners, supermarkets sell all types of flag and country symbol candles, homewares, merchandise etc. It’s been like that for the last 30 years - a bit like British supermarkets when the footballs on and everyone’s wailing about it coming home. And with migrants arriving now in Latvia a lot of people don’t like it, because they don’t assimilate with the culture. And in a country we’re independence is recent, it feels like a threat. Especially as there’s already ethnic Russians who don’t assimilate, even though they are white. Russians already diluted the ethnicity of the population with the arrival of USSR, they don’t want anyone else jeopardising their culture and country.

Your attitude to ethnic Russians is pretty despicable.
Diluting the ethnicity of the population?
Shame on you, shame on Latvia.

It’s not clutching pearls to hate disgusting, thick racists.

Totally agree op. The gammony Reform voters can get to fuck! They don’t represent the decent people of my country. Absolutely shameful!!

so no-one with pink skin is decent - bit racist

I genuinely think that POC and immigrants should also fly the flag, that would send a clear message that we belong here and will not be intimidated by this passive aggressive behaviour. I'm m sure it would confuse and send those who are flying it for racist purposes into a frienzy😆. Please don't let these kind of people win. You belong here like anybody else.

I don't think this is about that. POC are also British after all.

Isn't the whole thing about the illegals?

Nestingbirds · 09/09/2025 16:36

I am taking note that op has not yet acknowledged the fact she is openly assuming that everyone that wants to fly the British flag is automatically white.

It’s very offensive.

Any one of us can feel proud of Britain, any one of us can fly the flag, and have concerns about how our country is being run and be united in wanting action. Screeching ‘racist’ every thirty seconds is diminishing the very real impact of true racism. All this frothing from the armchair is beyond ridiculous and downright offensive. Please educate yourself op.

"They put up flags."

Why try to shame someone when you know nothing of the history or culture involved? Other countries are entitled to conduct their affairs as they wish.

Immigrants are net contributors to our economy. They are paying taxes and putting back in once allowed to work. We have a declining birth rate and a falling population- without immigration, by 2030 there will not be enough tax payers in the UK to sustain our infrastructure needs.

Asylum seekers and undocumented migrants do not claim benefits, they don’t get iPads and they aren’t living in 4 star luxury. They get £48 a week, and whilst some of the buildings may once have operated as 4 star hotels they are now running as basic dormitories - just look at all the former grand and historical buildings that now run as a Wetherspoons. Immigrants make up less than 0.5% of government spending, and pay more than that in in taxes.

So what is the problem? The 0.5% being spent on immigrants and refugees or the billions more being lost to tax dodging billionaires and corporations? Meanwhile Farage has voted for further tax cuts for the rich, and against tax cuts for lower income families. He voted against job security for low income earners, and against protections for low earners like ending zero hour contracts. He voted against legislation to tackle stalking and harassment of women. But sure, he’s on your side…. 🤔

What's the problem? Tens of thousands of fighting age males....no women...no children....just males, who will soon be placed into HMO's. Men who are from countries where rape and domestic violence isn't a crime....all living amongst us....what could possibly go wrong?

Interesting how once again someone that claims to be against racism uses a racist term.

It would take a very special person to be warmed by national pride at the sight of some of the flags painted on roundabouts. My dog could do a better job, and she's not even English.

I don’t mind the flags but they seem to have stopped in our area. Lots of plastic bunting littered though which has pissed me off.

The problem is we don't need low skilled workers from abroad. We have our own low skilled workers who could do the jobs that immigrants do. We have got a real problem in this country of millions of people being better off on benefits or working part time and claiming top up benefits. We have a housing shortage and rents are high.

Immigrants on low wages who then need top up benefits are really not contributing that much. This country is in a total mess.

“Not afraid to let their racism show”… fixed it for ya :D

You can keep believing that if it makes you happy. Regardless, some people value things other than money.

Firstly, I’ve given you statistics. The whole point of a statistic is it’s a fact not a belief.

Secondly, what exactly is it that you are objecting to?
