Rip the flags down! A call for action!

The sudden appearance of the English flag hung on lamp posts, railings etc has absolutely sickened me, and my dd.
I am proud to be British, but the misappropriation of the flag by thugs, intending to intimidate, is absolutely not acceptable in a diverse society.
So tonight myself and my adult dd ripped them down in our area, and tomorrow we will be going on a flag hunt, to rip down any more we find.
I would strongly urge those of you that feel the same way, to also remove them, as long as you feel safe and comfortable to do it.

Thanks for that.
I live in the Midlands so unlikely.
I don’t wet the bed.
I am not trying to virtue signal.
If you don’t give a shit about the racism currently displayed in the UK, crack on.
I do care.
Lets hope more of us do.

You're implying one has to go to university to be intellectual.

The definition of intellectual is:

connected with or using a person's ability to think logically and understand things

I'm not anti-university, but I'm anti-agenda which is what a lot of them now push. They're churning out a generation of young people with little life experience, with ultra liberal views. Whether you believe that to be a good thing or not is a matter of opinion, one that clearly is not shared by us.

University is useful for those wanting to study a meaningful degree, engineering, medicine, etc etc.

I oppose however those who attend to study a meaningless degree who then go on to dye their hair green, not practice good personal hygiene, work part time at a supermarket in a role that bears no relevance to their degree and shove their left leaning views down anyone's throat who will give them 30 seconds of their time.

The forever offended clique who will jump on anything to try and pedal their own narrative.

You shouldn't judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, some of the most successful people are not university educated.

Edited

Your whole post seems anti intellectual. The only degrees worth doing are vocational you say?
And what on earth is the connection with hair dye?

I think the poster you're quoting might be on the gin. Or something.

Agree!

Where are all these flags? I haven’t seen a single one in my area.

WaryCrow · 25/08/2025 21:51

I’ve not long come back from Europe and it’s true they have flags out there at every transport station and public area. Which they still have, because to be European is to have values other than exploiting the poor to make money for the rich.

Might I suggest that if the problem is the association of a red cross flag with racism we go back to another emblem for English nationalism that is not racist? An old symbol of unity in fact. Bring back the Tudor Rose. It was born in our land here too - far more appropriate than some foreign imposed religion of power and control.

Gin? I hope not. I am off to work a night shift in the next hour! You do realise some folk do not work 9-5 in an office right?

Handy flow chart to see if you are allowed to fly a flag

Always, we live in a very nice area, which is why I think it was so shocking to my dd.
She actually jumped out the car first, and insisted on ripping them down, which of course I agreed with.
She was really upset, she’s got loads of friends from different ethnicities at university, and she said they are all really worried about recent developments.
Shes back to university next week, but I’ve told her to he really careful about removing flags, and never to be on her own x
Im very proud of her for her disgust for how the flag is being used at the moment x

I hope you've got your rage out of your system if you're working with the public in any capacity.

If you've got coloured hair, as in blue, purple or green, you're either trans or woke.
"The blue haired brigade."
Apparently. Those the rules.

Rage - get over yourself. I am merely laughing at the virtue-signalling Labour supporting cheerleaders on here.

Good for you, OP. Twats can put them up but if there not in their own property then you can pull them down too…

Just to clarify…I am not looking for validation from complete strangers on the internet.
It was my dd, who is 20, that was insistent we take them down.
I am very proud to be British, but I refuse to let our flag to be used as a method to intimidate people.
SURELY you must all realise there is a concerted effort to try and do this, using our flag?

Teach your daughter to behave and be a better person.

Good for you. The level of intolerance and racism that is always denied by those responsible is completely sickening.

Well done, keep up the good work 👏

I’d prepare your DD for the next election. Reform are on the path to victory (unfortunately) and Labour aren’t exactly tackling these issues with any dynamism.

You've done an excellent job at bringing her up to be a good, thoughtful and compassionate human being. We need more people like her around, there are too many brainless thugs around at the moment.

Muffsies · 25/08/2025 22:05

Ilovemychocolate · 25/08/2025 20:58

I am just doing my (albeit tiny) effort to stop it.
What are you doing?

Sadly, your efforts are not going to stop it tho, you're just bringing the perceived 'fight' to them. All you're doing is inflaming the situation.

Every time things like this happen it all goes away when the weather gets shitty and people lose interest. Just let it all die out naturally. These people thrive if they think they're getting a reaction.

FollowSpot · 25/08/2025 22:09

GleisZwei · 25/08/2025 19:06

Everyone doesn't have to fly the flag, or even like the flag, for it still be ok for those who do want to fly it to do so.
I wish we would be as tolerant of the English flag as we are of the Scottish or Welsh flags.

We are tolerant of the English flag

But not so of the way it has been deliberately used by far right groups an anti-migrant anti-Muslim intent.

That is misuse of the flag.

it needs reclaiming.

CinnamonBuns67 · 25/08/2025 22:12

Rather than ripping them down shouldn't we be flying them more so the racists can't use our nations flags as their hate propaganda so they get bored like all hateful people do. People who are proud to be British who want to display the flag should be able to do so, anywhere in the world but especially in England just like anybody else who is proud of where they come from. I think this don't fly the flag rubbish is going to worsen the problem not solve it, basically handing it on a plate to the racists and creating more hate just like they want.

You have to be virtue signalling and labour supporting to oppose vandalism and intimidation now? When did that come in?

Murphs1 · 25/08/2025 22:15

Are some posters being purposely obtuse? There is nothing wrong with flying the English or British flag usually, but I think anyone with an iota of intelligence knows the connotations behind the mass of flags currently being displayed by certain groups and the links to discouraging diversity and inclusion and potentially encouraging racism and intolerance.
