Incredibly boring programs - Starting with Ben Fogle

EllyRoff · 13/08/2025 21:07

BF lives in the Wild must be the most boring program ever made. Every episode is the same:

“We left the rat race to live in a cow shed in the middle of nowhere. We live on rain water and mouldy vegetables but we’re so happy”

Next minute the socially isolated kids are shown studying butterflies or some shit.

I just can’t stomach it, normally I can sit and watch anything but this just irritates me beyond belief, I have to leave the room whilst DH watches it. The only other thing that comes close is Jools Holland.

Anyone else have such a strong dislike of a particular program?

Disagree with Lives in the wild, I really like it. However, strong agree with Jools Holland, he needs to give it a rest with that bloody honky tonk piano now!

Serpentstooth · 14/08/2025 10:56

Is Ben living ìn a shed along with his family? Not so long ago their London house was up for rent £7k a week in an area I always took care to avoid. If he is in a shed, it's not from need. What I really hate is wealthy middle class 'celebs' playing at povvo. Kirsty with her crafts, Nigella lauding cucina povera, there's plenty more. I'm feeling very tetchy this morning.

Tooneyy · 14/08/2025 10:57

I don't like love island etc. but they aren't boring. Boring is that awful tip show. I've seen it once or twice and just so, so boring.

TheCrasher · 14/08/2025 11:01

@ThePure , I love Any Answers, especially when Anita Anand is doing it. I like that people think their opinion is so important.
There are quite a few R4 programmes I switch off, Down the Line being one of them.

I agree. Jamie Oliver banging on about £1 meals and supermarket bargains of the season has always been something that riles me like nothing else!

Letgoofmyblank · 14/08/2025 11:03

Don’t watch much tv but the ones that get the tv turned off super quick are:

Mrs Brown's Boys, obvs

Football, esp Scottish football. Who cares?

Scottish comedy. I live in Scotland. They chuck money at Scottish comedians no matter how shite they are. There must be a budgets for making tv more Scottish, regardless of the quality. It’s so bad!

Apprentice.

Masterchef.

There are others, but these are the ones we’d rather throw the tv out of the top floor window than watch.

You need to watch Ben fogle in his other show Ben Fogle In Chernobyl. Apart from the fact it rhymes so beautifully, it’s defo not dull!
Made us wonder what other celebs could have their own rhyming show:

Nigel Farage in your Garage
Nigel Havers eats some Quavers
Keir Starmer meets a Farmer
etc…..

I also hate mrs browns boys - I’d rather be fried in a pan than watch that.

Edited

You have clearly started a horrible, but addictive parlour game.

Danny Dyer Fixes Your Tumble Dryer
Kate Moss Mucks Out Your ‘Oss
Jacob Rees Mogg Walks Your Dog

Scotty22 · 14/08/2025 11:06

My husband loves the Ben Fogle programe, I'd rather watch paint dry. He also likes Island Crossings, not sure if its only on in Scotland but its about Cal Mac ferrys. Its so dull. Also The Hotel Inspector 😴

DH is currently watching football. One of the most boring sports ever.

I see your football and I raise you golf and cricket.

Crikeyalmighty · 14/08/2025 11:09

@TotHappy ooh I love anything with Simon reeves - I hate anything involving celebs competing, cookery stuff ( and I love cooking) snooker, one show, soaps, love island

Anything on Talking Pictures. The weirdest channel ever!

<rises slowly from fainting couch and whispers faintly> How dare you! Since seeing a recommendation for Talking Pictures on here some years ago, my husband and I have taken up residence there. We've seen lots of amazingly crap long-forgotten gems there. We are old so much of it is nostalgic for us.

I find Songs of Praise very dull. Great favourite of my Mum's so I have to sit through it sometimes.

"He looks like a cross between a baby and a dildo"

This is possibly the finest thing I have read this year Grin

it’s quite brilliant I agree 😆

FurForksSake · 14/08/2025 11:28

Melvyn Bragg. Anything he’s on. I had an mri last week and they offered me the radio and I realised that would actually be hell and I’d pluck out my own eardrums.

Island Crossings is lovely. Very restful for the most part, and then they show the many problems on the ferry route I have the misfortune to rely on to visit my elderly widowed housebound Mum many times a year and it gives me a chance to shout at the radio and swear at the SNP all over again. Very cathartic.

CookieSue222 · 14/08/2025 11:32

COUNTRYFILE, COUNTRYFILE, COUNTRYFILE - What is the point? although I always buy the calendar every year - the programme is soooooo niche,

TheCrasher · 14/08/2025 11:37

@faffadoodledo , I really like You and Yours. It's on in the background and doesn't bother me. Sometimes it's fascinating.

Belladog1 · 14/08/2025 11:42

There are too many cooking shows on the TV now .... and it's totally bored me. I now turn over when one starts.

I find all these, lets pretend we like each other, shows awful. Helen Skelton and the channel 5 news guy (oh, we have been best friends forever), the 3 muppets on Top Gear who just pretended to muck around when it's all scripted when they did the long away adventures abroad, Rylan and Judge Rinder, Gary Barlow and friends. Come off it. Boring!!!

the80sweregreat · 14/08/2025 11:43

Countryfile rarely tackles the big questions or issues , if you want a real insight to rural pressures and how farmers operate watch ‘Clarksons farm. ‘
Im a ‘ townie ‘and learnt more from this programme than I have watching many other similar shows.

nomas · 14/08/2025 11:44

FarmersWifeOf30Years · 13/08/2025 21:47

You've made my DH laugh after a long day on the combine, 2 presenters he can't be doing with, Ben Fogle and Jools Holland.

I have found my people.

Jeremy Clarkson is vile.

Anything with the repugnant Dominic Littlewood. I cannot fathom his appeal. He looks like a cross between a baby and a dildo and he's got a very ill-disciplined mouth. He's totally witless.

Oh god, I'm all riled up now.

I agree.

Plus he bears an unfortunate resemblance to Gregg Wallace.

Yes, I refuse to watch Clarkson's Farm because of him.

Scruffy fleece people did make me titter @Screamingabdabz i can’t even get to the scraping of mud stage so repelled am I by programmes of this nature.

suspect my contributions have all already been made as they’re frankly unbearable.

The One Show: Aka the shit show in this house. I dislike most magazine format shows but this one takes first place. Combinations of dim, disingenuous tosser presenters with clearly bored / irritated guests given five mili seconds to witter on about their latest vanity project or shite programme. God awful.
i can’t abide Grand Designs or Amazing Spaces. Not just the presenters but the people who are so far up their own arses they apply to go on it in the deluded belief that we want to see them wringing their hands in indecision about exorbitantly priced flooring choices or door handles

anything fronted by Laura Kuenssberg, Claire Balding,Kate Humble or Helen Skelton.

Yes! All annoying.

sashagabadon · 14/08/2025 11:51

I hate pointless and even worse is House of Games. Richard Osman is a terrible host and not funny
i I love only connect however and the 1% club and I even enjoyed picturesmash which was awful

the80sweregreat · 14/08/2025 11:52

I do understand why people don’t like JC , but honestly his farming programme is great and so informative and real.
I don’t like magazine type programmes like ‘ this morning ‘ especially when it was with Holly and Phil.
Too many ads as well and bored looking guests.
