To be so fed up amd disheartened with all the xenophobia

1000 replies

Nohqters · 04/08/2025 21:56

Honestly, I’m just feeling worn out and heartbroken lately. It seems like racism and xenophobia are becoming more and more mainstream again, wrapped up in the same tired scare stories, whether it’s splashed across a tabloid or coming straight out of Farage’s mouth. Then you see stupid threads on here about civil war trying to stir up more hate.

Even my own brother has started sounding like Tommy Robinson. Ten years ago, that would’ve been unthinkable. It’s like people have completely forgotten the lies we were sold during Brexit—by Farage, Tice and their crowd—and yet they’re still lapping up everything they say. No critical thought, just blind anger pointed in the wrong direction.
I’m so fed up with the endless nonsense about small boats, “white minorities,” and all the rest of it. It’s all designed to divide us, stoke hate, and distract from the real culprits—rubbish politicians, broken policies, and the ultra-wealthy hoarding resources while the rest of us struggle.

But instead of looking upwards, it’s always “blame Johnny Foreigner.” It’s exhausting, and frankly terrifying how quickly people fall for it.

Is anyone else feeling this? How are you managing conversations when even close family seem to be buying into this stuff? I’m trying to stay compassionate, but it’s getting harder to bite my tongue.

Data not used correctly. Being explained on the today programme now. No consideration of age in Jenerick's claim. Data manipulated 'wildly'. See BBC verify.

They won’t believe the BBC, the BBC don’t tell them what they want to hear.

For example, do you genuinely believe that Labour is able to get any reform to the welfare budget, past the back benches?

Didn't Labour recently pass a welfare bill?

Happy to believe it if true, post the link and I will happily concede if the stats have been wildly manipulated.

The Telegraph is right wing but it’s not allowed to invent numbers out of thin air. You know this, you’re just clinging to the chance to delay your embarrassment a little longer.

The Telegraph made a Freedom of Information request and this was the result. This was confirmed by the Shadow Justice Minister.

Given the attitudes toward women in Afghanistan, are you going to pretend to be surprised now?

They have misrepresented it. Find me the original source, please. I can then see how it’s been misrepresented. Funny how they never link back to the source, isn’t it?

My MIL has a lovely life and loads of cash. Her kids are all living comfortably. She lives in an area with the tiniest percentage of non-whites. No asylum hotels anywhere near her. Her life and that of her family is not negatively impacted by immigration in the slightest.
She voted for Brexit, hates “foreigners” and is a massive racist. What’s her excuse?

Why don't you ask her why she holds that view. Nice setting of the scene of a wealthy, white middle class woman, BTW. I assume she's white. Then again, I'd be assuming that it's only white people, who are concerned about unfettered immigration - just like the left assume.

Come now, don’t be so disingenuous.

You know it was diluted and you really think they can get other reforms through. Why do you think Starmer removed the whip from several of them.

YANBU it makes me go from irrationally angry to really devastated. We seem to have lost our humanity. My FB is awash with racist rhetoric from people I never expected it from who are going to attend a bloody Tommy Robinson march! This wouldn't have happened a few years ago.

It's also the men who I know have not treated women well, some very badly and are always saying sexist stuff that are now really concerned about women and girls.

I'm honestly horrified.

Because a freedom of information request is made to the person who requested it. It’s not a web article created by the Ministry of Justice. I believe Starmer is pulling his finger out now and urging policy to clarify crime ethnicity and properly record it, so things may change very quickly over the next few years.

ChilliMead · 05/08/2025 08:56

I don’t want a load of misogynistic, traumatised young men in this country, bored and roaming the streets. So something needs to change. And people can’t say anything without being branded racist.

Also, I live in a large, poor city that is really segregated but there is no desire by many incomers, it seems, to want to integrate.

so yes, I’m not happy with all the immigration, legal or illegal.

Controversial welfare bill passes final Commons stage - but only after another concession

The government confirms it will aim to publish its review into personal independence payments by the autumn - a key demand of one Labour rebel.

I’d be really interested to hear what OP would say to this poster. How is this country supposed to welcome people who have no interest in integrating? Is this good for the UK society?

I have worked with asylum seekers and know how many good people flee war in their homelands, but these seem to be mainly economic migrants.

Yes she’s white. And female. She has the views she has because she doesn’t like anyone who doesn’t look like her. She also holds views about the welfare state and people (anyone) that claims benefits, because clearly they haven’t worked hard enough. Sadly yes she is a huge stereotype.

You mean like this FOI request that I linked in reply to your first post on this thread, which you conveniently completely ignored and carried on replying to others?

Not available on the web at all, are they? 😂

If you work with asylum seekers and refugees you know that 70% get refugee status.

Did you not know the Welfare Bill is going through? The changes to PIP were dropped (for now, but they will be back I suspect) but not the rest of the reforms in it.

If you notice, you will see whenever an established immigrant shares their own concerns about high immigration levels, their posts are ignored. Progressives love keeping minorities in their box. It's so patronising, but serves their purpose.

Perhaps educate yourself, use critical thinking and stop swallowing every bit of dog-whistle politics you hear. There are plenty of criminals who are native born too.

And why has net migration gone up so much?? Because Brexit took away freedom of movement from British citizens so a lot less of us cant move abroad now and that makes numbers higher

Here we go again. Anyone who disagrees with you is a thick, racist bigot.

So you think the multiple rapes of minors is of no concern at all? Anyone who has concerns about immigration is simply racist? And white?

Toseland · 05/08/2025 09:03

Society is breaking down. Britishness is apparently something be ashamed of. You can't fly your country's flag without being called a racist bigot. The top boys name is Mohammed in a Christian country! Gangs of immigrants harrass women in the street and rape our children. It's not safe to go out. There is two tier justice and policing. Those people who have lived, paid taxes, had their grandparents and great grandparents die fighting for this country feel betrayed. But nobody listens.

Oh, she's now a benefit basher. Just waiting to hear she doesn't need her state pension and the picture is complete.

Iocainepowder · 05/08/2025 09:04

It’s quite difficult around my local area atm.

There is a migrant hotel here and a few months ago, a of the men were arrested for harrassing and stalking girls from our local primary school. We had police walking our streets for a few weeks afterwards to increase safety.

We also have a very diverse community here already, but it has caused a feeling of ‘unease’ I think, where people are now a bit more weary of who is walking around and if they are from the hotel.

I think people would genuinely feel safer if the hotel occupants were moved, due to these incidents.

Absentmindedsmile · 05/08/2025 09:04

People keep asking for direct sources. The UK government and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) do not publish detailed breakdowns of sexual offence convictions by nationality or ethnicity.

So they have the detailed data, but don’t publish it for all to see.

Why is that?

Ethnicity data is collected during police investigations and court proceedings. This ethnicity data is not routinely published in a way that allows for direct comparisons between specific nationalities and the general population.

Why is that?
