And dreading it….!!! Just tonight I notice it’s a lot darker and cooler and just a nip in the air. I know I know we could still get another heatwave and it’s been a stunning summer but I hate the feeling of summer ending it’s such an optimistic time spring into summer I’ve loved it esp this year with all the sunshine - even though I moaned about the heat the odd time!!!!

OP posts:

Yabvu. It's 29 July 🙄

Traintothebeach · 29/07/2025 22:18

Blackberries out and conkers forming, leaves starting to yellow around here

Nitgel · 29/07/2025 22:20

I quite like the change. I think it will heat up again though.

RainSoakedNights · 29/07/2025 22:21

Yes. I hate it.

I sound stupid, but I have a sinus problem and can feel the changes in seasons based on sinus pressure (sadly I am losing this superpower this week ☹️). I’ve been sinus-y all week. There’s definitely a chill in the air.

Wisterical · 29/07/2025 22:23

The weather is changing, not the season.

MigGril · 29/07/2025 22:23

I don't know where you are OP, but although the days are starting to get shorter. It's still very much summer here, warm no chill in the air and even though its been dry the o ly leaves that are turning yellow are the trees that are stressed from the lack of water. It's often still nice here when the kids go back to school in September.

TheCurious0range · 29/07/2025 22:24

I got rained on twice today

Mmmkaay · 29/07/2025 22:26

I've just got back from a week abroad and the change in my garden is noticeable - all the plants are going over, things are getting overgrown the way they always do as the summer turns. It feels early this year, but I'm not that surprised as everything has been early this year.

Greencustardmonster · 29/07/2025 22:26

It was 24c and sunny here yesterday, and it’s still July. School hasn’t been off a week yet. Definitely still feels like summer here.

noctilucentcloud · 29/07/2025 22:27

I'm noticing the nights drawing in but it is over a month since the longest day now.

AutumnLover1989 · 29/07/2025 22:28

Noticed it getting darker about 7.30 tonight.

Crikeyalmighty · 29/07/2025 22:30

Whilst it may sound unreasonable I had to put heating on for an hour tonight -to take the chill off the air - it’s rained most of day here and this house is Victorian which has stone walls always feels cool with a nip if it rains- lovely and cool on a hot day - not so much when it isn’t .

Crikeyalmighty · 29/07/2025 22:31

@MigGril definitely had a slight nip in air in Bath today

Same here I put the heating on for a hour , also in Victoria cottage love it on a hot day but not in the winter

Nursingadvice · 29/07/2025 22:36

I bloody hope so. Autumn is my fav and I’m so excited for it. Hate the heat, sick of sweating 24/7.

Poisonwood · 29/07/2025 22:37

I had the fire on today and we had big jumpers and coats on when outside. Tbh, the thing that gets me is people presuming the entire 4 countries that make up the UK have had a glorious summer just because they have…we’ve had a rubbish summer here, again, grey, definitely not hot, windy/wet regularly. Now it definitely is feeling autumnal too. It’s hard without summer sun.

Lastandfirst · 29/07/2025 22:37

I live in Northern Ireland where the weather has been ‘grey’ apart from a few days here or there and a good week or so in June.

By the end of the summer I’m throughly pissed off with our crappy weather.

I love the changing of the season we do autumn and winter well in this part of the world.

LimeQuoter · 29/07/2025 22:40

Now that you mention it, maybe a little. We still have August tho and September is always warm now too

Motherofalittledragon · 29/07/2025 22:41

No unfortunately, I hate the summer

Whitehorses67 · 29/07/2025 22:43

I agree.
I was planning to buy a shade sail thingy for the garden but today I wondered if it was worth it and will probably leave it till next year.

Strictly will be starting before we know it!

FlowersFawb · 29/07/2025 22:46

I can't wait for winter light my candles, get the heating on! Love it getting dark early its my fave!

SunnieShine · 29/07/2025 22:49

Traintothebeach · 29/07/2025 22:18

Round my way, too.

hattie43 · 29/07/2025 22:50

Today has felt like summer has gone , cold wind rain but it’s only July so I’m optimistic it’ll return

Rainbow1235 · 29/07/2025 22:51

Yes said to my sister this afternoon that definitely feel of autumn in the air . She thinks I’m nuts but I know I’m rite 😂

currentlybrunette · 29/07/2025 22:56

Summer isn’t my favourite but there’s still at least two months left of the warm weather and lighter evenings. It’s been a month since the longest day so yes the nights are drawing in but not autumn-like. I got rained on twice today but it’s still summer. Just a period of funky weather.
