And dreading it….!!! Just tonight I notice it’s a lot darker and cooler and just a nip in the air. I know I know we could still get another heatwave and it’s been a stunning summer but I hate the feeling of summer ending it’s such an optimistic time spring into summer I’ve loved it esp this year with all the sunshine - even though I moaned about the heat the odd time!!!!

Hate it, and to make it worse saw tubs of Xmas chocs in Tesco today, when I commented at check out, cashier said, well it won’t be long

Yes and no.

There are loads of fruits out here, which is a very autumnal thing.

However the weather is supposed to be hot again next week where I am. So not really autumnal.

We always get this around this time of year these days.

I'm sure you could manage to be unsociable in the summer if you put your mind to it.

Quite. I never understand the posts that say ‘I hate summer because I have to go out all the time’. There’s no law. Stay home. Do what you want.

I’m still having to use the air con in the car, and sleep just under a linen sheet so YABU.
And it’s months until I’ll switch the heating on.

It feels like late Summer to me, definitely a change from Spring and early Summer, it always feels like Autumn isn't far away when we get to August.
I love April, May and June, and they were lovely this year.

According to Woodlamd Trust the expected ripening range for blackberries is mid July to September. I checked because everybody going ‘ooo it seems early’ didn’t feel right based on my own experiences in previous years. https://naturescalendar.woodlandtrust.org.uk/blog/2025/it-s-bramble-season-let-us-know-when-you-spot-your-first-ripe-berry/

Thank you I didn't know this or about August being Celtic autumn. In my head blackberrying always happened in September!

I'm glad its not just me who thought that! Grin

An early spring and a warm, dry summer have meant some fruits ripening a little ahead of the norm and some trees starting to shed leaves. Neither means an early autumn, and they certainly don’t mean nights drawing in more quickly.
