I can't get this song out of my brain by Chappel Roan.
I keep playing it, does anyone else?

No, I went right off her when I saw a clip of her pushing a member of staff at an event and thought, what a vile person.

I haven't seen that one but I saw one where CR was at an event and remembered this woman had been cruel to her sometime before so called her out on it. I applaud her for that

Sundaycrunch · 26/07/2025 22:07

I'm with you OP. Absolutely love the song and am slightly jealous that DD is seeing her at the Reading festival.

shuggles · 26/07/2025 22:07

It's very bland and forgettable. I don't understand why the most popular songs today are bland songs that don't evoke any sort of emotion or feeling.

We were discussing this on my last resuscitation study day. Apparently you can do CPR to it. Although I’m not seeing how!

Yes I’ve heard that too!

I love her album, I like singing along to it loudly in the car.

StrawberrySquash · 26/07/2025 22:12

It's a terrible earworm, but I don't really like the song. She's done much better!

orangedream · 26/07/2025 22:13

I love it, and many of her other songs.

Saracen · 26/07/2025 22:13

I didn't really know it, but I was enchanted by this chap's rendition of it on America's Got Talent:

At first l thought it was going to be a copy of I will survive by Gloria Gaynor.. the first few bars are that song.

Steelworks · 26/07/2025 22:16

I quite like it.

ThinWomansBrain · 26/07/2025 22:18

Never heard it, but there's a really naff track that was on desert island discs THREE weeks ago that is still earworming its way through my brain.

NebulousWhistler · 26/07/2025 20:30

Ahh I just saw the title of your thread and started singing it. Now it won’t go away. Thanks a lot, OP! 😁

Was just going to say the exact same thing! Arrrggghhhhhh......
It's the worse tune EVER!!!!! I'll probably have this sodding earworm when I wake up in the morning now!🤦‍♀️😅🤣

Backhometothenorth · 26/07/2025 22:19

Love Good Luck Babe and Hot to Go

Lovelyone1 · 26/07/2025 22:21

I prefer her other songs. I'm from the same town as her and now living in Bedfordshire :)

TeenLifeMum · 26/07/2025 22:23

My favourite is coffee but we’re Chappell Roan fans in this house. Going to see her at Reading with our 3 teens (who seem to like hanging out with us).

SAME! I know it sounds daft but her comments on children (where all the people she knows who have kids are miserable) really wound me up too - more so because an ex-friend of mine whose sole tik tok account is about child-hating/living her best "childless" life used these comments repeatedly on all her posts 🤣

That's not really what it's about at all. It's about her move to California from the arsehole of nowhere and finding a gay bar where people can perform and be themselves. She says it is the first place she felt she could be herself and saw loads of other queer people in a safe space.

It's based on a real club called The Abbey. It's not at all about stripping but i see how people can infer that.

This exactly. I lived around the corner from The Abbey, the gay bar this song is about, and it was 90% make but no judgment and pure hedonism and no female stripping that wouldn’t have fitted - and she reminds me of Kate Bush, her voice and also her being a walking work of art.

Yabbadabbadooooooo · 26/07/2025 22:36

Male not male. Autocorrect!

Neweverything25 · 26/07/2025 22:40

Oh dear, I heard the song and thought it was by Taylor Swift so thanks for enlightening me! I obviously didn’t listen when they mentioned the singer on the radio. It is very catchy, isn’t it!

ThisCheekyHazelSheep · 26/07/2025 22:43

This has been stuck in my brain for two months! 'pink ponyyyy cluuub imma keep on danciiiiing' it's on repeat, is there a support group? I need help 😆

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/07/2025 22:45

Love it, and the whole album - not a dud track on it. I sing “Orange kitty club” to our cat 🐈.

Pregnancyquestion · 26/07/2025 22:45

I love it. I love the whole album and It’s not about stripping but even if it was the songs I used to sing when I was younger! I remember singing about a woman having to feed her son by sleeping with a man for a little bit of money cause his daddy’s gone, somewhere smoking rock now, in and out of lockdown… think it goes over kids heads lol

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 26/07/2025 22:58

I love the song so much. I have sang it (badly) on karaoke a few times.

I'm not familiar with the story of the origins of the song, nor am I particularly interested. But looking at the lyrics of the song it's pretty easy to see how someone might infer that it's about a strip club. Regardless of whether that's accurate, one can see why someone would think that. It doesn't really take much imagination.
